welcome back to Bonanza disc golf I will address the elephant in the room I did shave my beard a lot so round one of the first tournament of the Year thought I'd switch things up shade the beard a little bit but three or three open a little I'm very nervous I feel like this channel has given me a lot of like expectations that I need to meet and I know that you guys or at least a lot of you guys don't have those for me so today I'm really focusing on playing my game chilling and just like staying in each moment for every single shot if you guys watching practice around a lot it would be a lot of length so we're just gonna throw some discs hopefully play pretty well I have a score in mind but I'm trying not to even keep score during the round big shout out Randy over here gonna be caddying or just filming or a little bit of both anything you want to say to the people before you take the behind the camera station we're gonna get them today yeah you are we don't know about me yet stepping up the hole number one we're actually Gonna Hear Hollow back around the background I told him to just play the bananas part for my name but I guess I didn't listen it's 355 feet downhill I just stopped to an honor instead of the Firebirds I have been throwing through it a little bit lower on that hyzer because the wind was pushing from the left to the right so that it's a little skip foreign didn't quite expect it to be that good but almost started out with the ace which would have been an electric way to start out the hole but we step up to this putt and my nerves are so high for a little ten footer I don't even know how I got that over the cage but we start out with the birdie move on to Hole number two which is a very James Conrad approved t-pad now this hole you can see that baseball field up at the right side all around those light poles and that last one you can see on the very right about 80 feet in and to the right is the basket it's about 750 feet Par Four you want to get to that tree that's in the middle and I'm gonna throw a kind of Flippy Echo Star Destroyer because now we have a Tailwind I never really practice with this disc but I knew if I put it high enough it would turn and then actually stable out just because of how much Tailwind there was this actually gives me a pretty good angle in with the stable Destroyer because the wind is pushing slightly left to right up this hill so I'm aiming at that small tree that's in the middle of the Fairway and if I can just push the Destroyer right over it I think I'll land in a good spot honestly didn't know if that was going to be Circle one I just circle two but I knew it was gonna be a pretty good shot didn't quite expect how good also you'll notice AJ Carrie right there tap it in he was on the card hole number three is a 470 foot downhill Par 3 that we did not get the shot of but this is where I landed gonna go ahead and try to run this putt but I told myself before the round to not do step putts ended up doing one into a right to left crosswind and I'm feeling a little bit confident about making that putt but honestly today my nerves really were kind of high this putt though I definitely was thinking hey it's like Taiwan is gonna drop it let's just put it high in the middle end up releasing a little bit left and that's how I had been missing when I don't commit the reput bogey unfortunately and that's gonna bring us to one down through three holes which is fine because I was honestly planning on going and being fine going into hole number four which is a nice simple 280 foot uphill hole that I'm gonna take my honor on end up with a really solid shot that puts me inside the circle maybe about 20 25 feet which is exactly where I want to be to have one of those makes early on in the round to get my putting confidence going especially because I knew it was gonna get windy a little bit after this hole so I step up to this putt decide to go with an Envy instead of my peers because the wind is coming up this hill foreign T was maybe a little bit left side but I don't know you can classify that as a spit out in my head I'm going to say that I missed that putt just to make sure I make it next time but definitely hit a lot of chains before missing that but I was planning on being one down through the first four holes disappointed in myself for that putt but that leads us into another Par Four which is kind of equalable hole number five here is 717 feet it's pretty downhill though so you can get inside a circle one I'm gonna take an EcoStar Destroyer which is a little more stability there is a pretty decent headwind coming up this hill so I throw it on hyzer but honestly mostly a little bit to the right and I was playing out to that right side but I probably should have taken on slightly more stable this because it just kept riding up that side of the Hill never really finishing down this is mostly because the OB I didn't know was there in my practice rounds because it hadn't had it flagged but it leaves me with kind of an up and down where the wind pushing from the right to the left I could have tried a spike hyzer down into the bowl where the basket is about 280 feet out from where I am probably maybe a little bit inside of that I didn't actually arrange it but I could have gone that big wide hyzer but I decided to go up the Middle with my zone on a little bit of a flex instead I like the shout out of my hand except for the fact that I kissed that tree I think it was gonna get down there inside of the circle but it leaves me with another pretty simple pitch up and down from about 80 feet not really trying to make this would have been a great one to get another Birdie on I'm expecting the birdie this one at least one of the next two days if not both of them kind of pitch a wide Zone another Crystal Flex get freaky guy up to the basket leave me with about a 15 or 20 footer a little bit of nerves on it but I'm pretty confident from this range typically also that's AJ you can see here he got a circle birdie his disc on that left side is that warbird like I said it's an equalable hole if you got the arm for it and you get the angle right you got the birdie with the OB stroke I took the par the hard way but let's move on to probably one of the most daunting holes on the course hole number six hole six here is 901 foot par 5 Landing zone out of this Gap I'm taking a Firebird because you can push it long honestly the wind is pushing from the right to left and I put a little too much anhyzer on that it scared me for a second but the landing Zone that I'm playing towards is exactly where I finished with my disc which leaves me with a nice little 300 to 330 foot up and down with pretty much a Spike hyzer as you can see I put my long sleeve shirt on because he's been waiting behind so many people and the claws decided to come out but I'm gonna throw my Destroyer on a spike geyser here instead of maybe a Firebird because I really wanted to make sure it got back to the left now we're gonna see in a couple more holes as well I thought this Destroyer was a bit more stable than it is I probably should be throwing that Halo maybe my like tournament strength is coming out and I'm throwing a little harder than before oh no Latin oh sit down wow is that safe you think it looks like it yeah it looks like it's a pole and just shut straight down that was Psycho wow so that was kind of a little bit crazy honestly probably would have been a better life I didn't hit that sign but as it stands I'm in bounds I'm happy about that and I have it up and down over this ledge and I have a Zone and an ultra in my hand I'm making sure that I can actually throw but I'm thinking about how I'm actually going to be able to do this without hitting this sign and I'm because the wind is actually coming off this Lake basically right at me you can see kind of the Waves how they're moving I'm thinking Zone but I'm probably still about 230 feet out and I didn't think that I'd be able to get enough power so I'm gonna go with my ultra pretty disc golf supply as you can see I kind of just flick it up in the air unfortunately instead of really committing through that hit and it goes it'll be left this is a hole that I would love to birdie it's a really difficult hole especially when it's got this teeth in the wind and I had a great opportunity there that I pretty much squandered leaving me with an opportunity to save the par from about 40 feet I'm really not disappointed about that little standstill effort leaves me with a drop in bogey which I'm not super stoked about bringing me back to even after a really hot start the first two holes moving into hole number seven let's go not all of it unfortunately so in case you're wondering there's a little bit of wind out there today it completely blew over one of those little tents hole number seven is 360 feet going up this hill there's an OB line to the left there's that Lake on the right I'm gonna take this anhyzer line instead of just going up the typical hyzer because the wind is super swirly and it looks right right now as you could see on the lake it's blowing right in my face so I'm really confident about taking my stable Destroyer on this play but after it leaves my hand you're gonna see it just kind of starts to stable a little bit fast I feel like I put the right move on that that I would with anything but I think it becomes a little bit of a tail when once it gets up on that ledge and as we're walking up there I noticed that really confusingly swirly wins which leaves me with a putt after hitting some trees from about 45 feet happy with how it felt out of my hand but the putter is not working right now but drop in par that's all right even if this course today is going to be really good hole number eight 333 feet downhill there's a bush you can see in the middle of the Fairway OB to the left OB to the right that bush is just 20 feet in front of the basket so I throw a firebird and it somehow flips over on me honestly one of the discs I took out of my bag for this tournament is my slightly more stable 2023 Sexton Firebird which is a little more stable than that champ one and I definitely missed that Firebird today here you can hear the wind is ripping I'm taking the Zone upshot really wish that this little stake wasn't in my light take a nice little hyzer up shot thought it was perfect in the wind once it hits any Edge instead of skipping right up to the basket on a perfect little skip like I thought I threw it just kind of gets about 25 20 feet short in the left ah probably close and that actually looked a little further from that last shot but this is a putt that I really do not want to miss I don't want to continue taking bogeys I'm still even par but 20 feet uphill into slight headwind feels like a really good putt to make moving on to Hole number nine back at the front line if we can leave the front nine even part I think I'd be very happy because I really like the back nine flip I just threw it that way no your eyes aren't mistaking you that is an OB line that I just crossed like 60 feet in front of unfortunately which is going to leave me with a pretty long second shot and a 712 foot Par Four now this I'm gonna throw my more stable Destroyer on kind of a little bit of a flex just to get as much distance that I can but make sure it stays safe that whole time I honestly did not know where this disc went for a second because it just kind of hung up in the air eventually came back down a little bit frustrated by it but it leaves me with an up and down to get to this pin I'm about 250 feet out so I decided to take my ultra here and throw what I thought was a really good shot but I think it was just slightly nose up because I was worried about getting over this little berm in front of me listen to the trees unfortunately leaves me with about a 50 foot putt to save the bogey and my game is feeling very nervous at the moment I am really trying to stay out of my head because I am just all the way in it I don't really know what I can do to get out of it at this point a lot of it's just shaking off the rust like it has been a while since I've played a tournament six months almost and at this point I'm trying to make sure that one of my three goals for this tournament which was the cash which at this point I'm like maybe I'm going to be last place to also never give up which is what I really want to work on this round and I have a round that I'm proud of so we'll tap in for the double bogey leaving us at plus two through the front nine wind is continuing to pick up I throw a Firebird on the next shot because I saw them all take the white Hyster don't think I quite pushed it wide enough unfortunately and this firebird and I just are not getting along today because I out of my hand say that's OB other people think it's going to be safe and unfortunately it winds up inches literal inches from being in bounds super unfortunate unfortunately really just trying to keep my head in the game today is not going to be the round that I'm proud of today is not going to be the round where I make sure I'm in the cache but it can be around where I don't give up so we're just gonna pitch up real quick and hopefully take an easy bogey but when things are going right sometimes your pitch-ups don't even go right and instead of being underneath the basket you still have a 15 to 20 footer so remember that shank that I had a couple holes back well that's the disc that I throw for maybe three or four holes on this back nine unfortunately this Echo start a story that I'm about to throw is slightly less stable than that one and so I kind of baby it because I did not 100 sure the win don't quite turn it enough really just did not commit and have a good shot and I am shaking my head because I am pretty sure that that is OB luckily the construction fence that runs along that line probably ended up saving it from going OB I'm guessing it honestly hit it in the air because of how terrible that shot was but at least with an up and down that I can try to make to save the birdie a little bit aggressive trying to tell myself to actually remember to follow through when I'm trying to throw a hyzer because that was meant to be not be a Heiser flip but just a straight up hyzer forehand that gets back to the basket luckily this part isn't actually OB today it should be OB so that should be like a literal third or fourth drive or whatever big shot in a row that goes OB but it wasn't quite at least with this which I have to throw over all this crap with the zoned try to save the par which luckily at least have that opportunity to do so but I end up just throwing it a little bit too high gets caught a little bit too much by the win which I was trying to mitigate at least with about a 50-footer maybe ish to save the oh say the bar not the bogey par good and just smacks the top part of the knob actually rolls away to about 25 feet which you don't capture foreign and make a relatively confident putt at this point I am very much living rent free inside of my own head just thinking why am I not able to execute the shots I've not been throwing bad but I've not been throwing good it's been like that little five percent where since there's a lot of OB that punishes a bad shot I'm throwing shots that are just bad enough to continue to get punished so the next total 380 downhill throw a Firebird on a forehand really like it except for the fact that I push it a little bit to the left and this hole frustrated me a little bit because the spotter watches it roll we kind of wait for it to see it roll and she's gonna give us really quickly the out of bounds sign unfortunately at this point I walk up to my lie to go and check the firebird we actually miss my upshot because I was so frustrated walk up to go and look at the out of bounds because it was so close the lines were not super well defined and as I'm there the spotter picks up my disc to give it back to me while we're having a small conversation so my car couldn't even look at it to see if it was in bounds I think it might have been out by about an inch but I was not 100 sure so we took the bogey there unfortunately where it maybe could have been a part it might have been in Bounds at this point it's another hole that I throw the disc that I love lost a par for about 750 feet downhill I throw my more stable Destroyer meant to turn it just did not turn it just through it flattened a little bit nose up ends up with another OB drive so I'm just that little bit where this OB as well is like two to three feet out of bounds leaving me with a 400 foot up and down from this point I take my Destroyer try to honestly not think about it and just like let me just throw this hyzer around this tree get close to the basket out of my hand I since I wasn't thinking about it maybe ended up being a really great shot and I'm very frustratedly just smack my mini pick it up all my car mates are saying wow great shot and so that's how you know how in my head I am but it leaves me with about 30 maybe inside maybe outside the circle putt not really going to worry about it I'm not stepping it anyways let's just finally hopefully make a par safe really weird catch but it goes in very happy to have saved par that hole could have been a disaster that would have been a double bogey bogey bogey another bogey if I didn't say par but I saved par and I really needed that you see me smiling a little bit to remind myself I'm not the worst disc golfer that has ever lived on the face of the planet because that is what was going through my head I was gonna think hey I'm shooting 850 right around this is terrible hold number 14 793 foot par 5 first drive just a big hyzers get over or around all these trees give it really good height into a slight head right to left which is an interesting wind but I threw my slightly more stable Destroyer probably would have thrown that even if I had the purple one sneaks just past that tree line leaves us with a pitch up basically to where all those signs are is where the fpo mp50 and up t-pad is for the B pool going to the same basket so as long as I pitched just past it we're really happy so I take my crystal Flex Zone very actually happy to have executed that shot it looks like a really simple shot because it is but I've not been throwing those super well shot and as you can see I am very happy to have finally made one of those shots I've arranged this it's about 280 270 feet I believe so it's very much in putter range but because it's a slight headwind coming down this tunnel not a lot of headwind but a little bit and it's slightly uphill I say let me just throw a Pathfinder at it a little bit straight at it it's probably gonna flip up a tiny tiny bit ends up flipping a little really beautiful flight just pretty much executing this hole exactly as I want to be doing finally give a thumbs up for a shot basically parked shouldn't really be difficult to make this birdie so if I miss it please everybody slap me in the face so we take a birdie on hole number 14 leaving us with four holes at this point I have been checking scores because I wanted to make sure after that ob1 with the island I want to make sure that I wasn't literally in last place hole number 15 is a 288 foot tunnel shot we're gonna probably see just the beginning I'm throwing my Envy down it kind of actually hit the tunnel which I'm really happy about didn't really mind that it was a little bit High didn't really mind that it got smacked down I just didn't want to miss early I would love to be confident enough to just like consistently be making these shots but here I have a little bit of a step up from about 45 feet going up this hill still not been super confident in these but there's a slight tail one so I know I can juice it and I just end up really babying it unfortunately didn't even really give it that good of a run unfortunately there was a log in front of my step so as I practiced kind of stepping that out I wasn't super confident in making that happen but taking apart definitely not the end of the world that was a very bad though well number 16 246 feet going straight down this tunnel up to a basket that basically just continuously moves very slightly to the right so not super fast moving rightward shot takes the worst kicks ever kicks from one branch into another and this I thought would be inbound still just with a really tough up and down unfortunately there was a flag line of OB even though it didn't say that in the caddy book which is probably a good decision but definitely want that to say that in the caddy book pitch up a Zone end up having about a 25 foot putt to save the bogey again maybe 30 feet I don't know how far these pots are as you can tell they're all over the place there's no markings it's kind of unfortunate I feel like at a tier there should be like a circle Mark that basically every hole but it's not so is what it is moving on to Hole number 17 really frustrated again but this is one of those rounds where I'm just basically battling myself and the course at the same time shaking off the rust that's all we have to think about it it's expected it's what's gonna happen 17 339 straight ahead I was gonna throw a Pathfinder that's always what I threw but it's a slight headwind so instead I decided to disc up to my stable strike which I throw relatively Softly on a little bit of a turnover because I knew that it would fight against the headwind a little bit more and keep it straighter end up putting it to maybe 10 12 feet really happy with how that shot went pretty confident pot there taking another birdie and I'm just thinking hey that's birdie birdie out of here get to three over par and that would be very confident to end it so we walk up to the next hole and it is a absolutely ripping headwind that gets even more crazy as you get up the hill I'm throwing this drive it's par five 850 feet take what I thought was a semi-stable destroyer and just put it straight into the lake it never even thought about coming back for a second and so I have it up and down we have to get onto the left side of this Fairway I'm thinking in my head hey I can still say par I can stay at this four over par Mark I'm taking my now stable Destroyer which for sure would have worked in the last shot too my Calvin destroyer and this one still flips it over from a hyzer so I'm begging this disc to get back left I do not want to have to basically rethrow that shot barely gets inbounds literally like two or three feet very fortunate to have gotten back in bounds definitely a good disc choice but it leaves me with this up and down with a Firebird I could have thrown it with the ultra it's only about 260 feet but it's slightly uphill and I figure hey my Firebird because the wind is pushing down the hill from the left to the right even though it's a slight head when it's not going to flip up too much but that Firebird has been giving me some trouble today so I'm thinking let me put a lot of hyzer on this and just try to get to the basket so really make sure to blast that thing on a decent bit of hyzer might have about 15 20 feet short of the basket which I thought would be a relatively simple putt it's mostly left to right a little bit aheadwind so I'm thinking hey just put it in the middle of the chains you can hear the wind is absolutely ripping up here on the green so we're going to take my premium plastic Envy actually because I feel like it's a little more confident to give it some spin out of my hand I thought I made the putt I don't quite understand what the wind was doing to have dropped it under the basket as you can see I'm saying like I don't know what the heck is going on but unfortunately we're gonna tap in for a bogey which not the worst played hole not the worst played round overall and let's get to our final conclusions here as you saw all those mixed emotions right there that's exactly how that round was for me well that was around honestly not as crazy bad as you would think and I'm actually pretty happy with a lot of things one I definitely feel like I was shaking off the rust two I never gave up in that round especially after making that power save on what was it hole number like 13. I made that nice little 400 foot up shot and then took the birdie on the next tool never giving up meant a lot to me I never got at a point this round where I was not nervous about something every single shot was nervy every single pup was nervy and I've not had that in any tournaments for like the past five or six tournaments because you get into a Groove but I haven't played a tournament in six months so this makes a lot of sense my round one I shot five over par I'm 957 rated for that round which is slightly above my rating and that felt like probably one of the worst rounds that I could ever have and so I'm really happy my floor seems to keep going up now I just need to have rounds that are closer to my ceiling but that was around that was probably pretty close to my floor did not go super well but it leaves me with the tee times bar at 12 10 if you want to follow along if I'm sure people have questions about this hat I will be selling them probably in some sort of goodie boxes that you guys will be able to pick up probably sometime next week I was gonna do it for this weekend but everything just came like a day before the tournament also with some shirts don't tell anybody I'm definitely disappointed obviously it was a terrible round for me I felt like I played awful but it's good to have played awful and have shot the rating that I did and it was fun to play on a card with some really good people and love playing in the mpo because even though right now I'm not in the cache I think I can cash at this tournament I can come back and do that this just makes me want to continue getting better this definitely showed me a lot of things that I need to continue to work on but I'm trying not to judge my play after my first tournament round back in forever I'm gonna give it a tournament maybe two maybe a month of tournaments and then really reevaluate some things I know that I have the skills I just got to put it all together and continue honing it in and getting more consistent but that's the name of the game if you want to check out my in the bag to learn every disc that I'm throwing check it out right down there I appreciate you guys watching like the video subscribe the channel same day coverage baby had this round today it's 8 40 as I'm finishing this it'll probably be live at like 10 o'clock hopefully they get the bananas part of how that girl right tomorrow and I'll see you guys in the next one okay love you guys bye
