Champions Cup Had Some MAJOR Problems...

welcome back to Bonanza disc golf we have to talk about Champions Cup and the major problems with it as well as the live just have a lot of stuff in my mom and Champions Cup but first off this is really a blow to my love for live coverage and thinking that it's going to help supersede jomes or at least force a change in them soon I don't think I'm wrong about that but gosh did this not help we're at Adam's Hollow we're starting on hole too because there's a bunch of people talking on hole one and I am socially awkward believe it or not thank you or I'll just throw it like a child and then one disc I'm gonna try out is actually the origin here from this Mania okay really focusing on turning around or like fully coiling like Looking Backward I noticed I'm not fully pulling all the time as you guys know here on the channel I'm a big proponent for live coverage it's the best way I think to consume disc golf because you get so many different stories coming along in this video I don't there's no spoilers in live golf but we'll be talking about Winners and stuff so if you haven't watched jomas already it's Tuesday it's on you but this week if you watched any live coverage it was so bad in pixelated what the heck is this I actually have some footage from the final round of a major and there's got to be some changes that happen and we'll talk about what I think some proposed solutions to that are but wow was that embarrassing for the disc golf Network to have a major be held like this okay none of these are actually as bad as I thought they were definitely think the origins go in the bag though now there's been a lot of talk I've heard recently about how they might have to change where Champions Cup is and they tried they wanted to put it at toboggan which is the course that the diskraft Great Lakes open is at Dlow but that just like kind of wasn't gonna happen because the international Disc Golf Center is the headquarters of the pdj and that's where WR Jackson is stay up I always go so Speedy when I'm shooting these videos that's when I got people on my tail gotta slow down take my time also this last one is pure it's kind of parked and so honestly I feel like the pdj is not gonna let this major move when we're thinking about live coverage right now they're using like cell signal and cell towers and that just does not seem like it's the ideal solution kind of in the middle of nowhere in the woods everything is just going to be blocked apparently there's a new PIN position on this hole so while I oh actually I think I can see it through here oh kind of oh you can go up that's like I thought you had to throw the forehand but we're gonna try this Quake I'm not sure if this is going in the bag between this and maybe another disc I have on the way it's a really good discs though I have a couple ideas one satellites are gonna be way too expensive laying cable which is what happens at like a lot of big golf tournaments is very expensive as well but if this is going to be at the headquarters of the PDGA and they want to keep it as a major I feel like that's an investment that they need to make in order to increase sponsorship because the average viewership for this major was like 4 000 people alive that is not sellable to anybody that is so low in terms of the amount of people that are actually watching the major live concurrent if the PDGA is really putting all their eggs in the professional basket with the disc golf Network and trying to move past post produce and getting a lot more money into the sport because live is a lot longer there's a lot more money that they can directly get they really need to lay cable if they want to keep it there or move it and I have some other ideas about like clearing off Airways and some other things that we need to talk about especially when it comes to spectatorship because that's another way that they're going to make money but I think very obviously this is a massive point for Gomez and post-produced coverage because if you wanted to actually see what was going on you couldn't even see some of the throws it just felt like DGM was sleeping a little bit because at the very end this is one of the most frustrating things I was watching with my wife the end of coverage I think the sound mixer like went to the bathroom or something or literally took a nap because Isaac's interview with Brian at the very end the sound mix was awful so much more crowd noise you could barely hear what they were saying my volume isn't off come on soundboard you can do it come on soundboard you can do a soundboard these are the types of things that feeling excusable even though there are a bunch of problems come on guys come on so big point to Gomez I'm still not gonna go watch Thomas because I watch what happened on dgn so I think the story lines I'm folding there are still good and I feel like just as the pro tour continues to evolve and we see new story lines I feel like it's similar on the coverage aspect because some Weeks live can be so great and other Weeks live can be terrible I still like that I can get it live but man if there was any other I said this multiplies if there's any other way that I could watch live coverage right now I would literally any other way but that's why it still is the king because you can't and the putt is not on right now all right we gotta talk a little bit about dominance because Isaac Robinson this week went wire to wire me but Isaac's ability to just put the disc straight down the Gap I was watching him on a practice round and he was like meeting up with Gannon a little bit and Jim was like is this just the easiest thing in the world to you on the gap of like 17. super tight window and he's like yeah literally it is it's nuts of the things that that guy's able to do also we'll talk about this a little bit more soon but big win for Prodigy last two majors usdgc and Champions Cup both won by Prodigy youngsters we'll see what happens with Ganon throughout the course of the season but that's a wild turn of events also one quick ripe with commentating where where it pertains to Isaac is Isaac only had one bogey going into the final round Kristin only got one bogey throughout the whole tournament as well we'll talk about her next but the whole of 18 he has thrown his third shot it's a par four he could have made a circle two putt as a circle putt but he decided to lay it up instead and Terry and Nate specifically Terry was so distraught by that idea and it's like just because he got another Bowie I don't think Isaac cares he still won a major by six Strokes like that really I felt like it took away a little bit from that moment of him being like Oh no Isaac well I'll do that like harping on it for like a minute or two why would you do that because he won a freaking Major Terry and also Nate stop saying Terry every singles other sentence okay my gripe's about commentary oh Connells lifting big time and getting super lucky and going super deep any questions at the beginning of the season when Kristen came back from her injury came back and won and then had a couple not so Crystal like finishes finally finished off the podium a little bit those are a little bit put to rest by her winning a major by more than lapping the field she could have stopped playing after the second round and just taking pars and still won she ended up winning by 14 Strokes at 27 down over Owen Scott guns who was 13 down but she could have given the rest of the field a four more rounds and she wouldn't have lost okay with this win I definitely should have either throwing the forehand or push my pathfinder through that right side Gap that I threw my strike through well this is a great shot this puts fpo in a really interesting place because kind of just want to see Kristen have a better season than Pullman Fest 2015. I want to see her win all the majors I want to see her basically be uncontested I just feel like they'll do a lot for the sport and she might get to a thousand rated Paige almost did it during the coveted years when ratings were definitely inflated now Kristen might do it when the field is literally the strongest it's ever been Putters off today oh we're going back to Jonesboro right now which if I'm not mistaken is where Kristen really started turning it up and winning a lot throughout the year and it seemed like she did have a chip on her shoulder a little bit this Champions Cup but she didn't really have to play like it when she had the hot round or at least a share of it all four rounds of the tournament doesn't seem like anybody even wants to try to be Kristen but that also brings us to Paige because Paige Pierce finished outside of the cache for the first time at a major in like a very very long time and honestly I have mad respect for Paige for this because she was told not to play this tournament because she had tendonitis in her rotator cuff which has to be like one of the worst injuries that you could get still play this knowing that her chances at caching were greatly diminished because she's super injured uh just because she wanted to defend the title I think that that's definitely commendable and then the other major player in the field cat taking third place tied with cap merch big shout out to cat merch such fun player to watch as well as Haley King who like is just a major player I really hope that she's in the field more because I feel like it's gonna be her and Holland Hanley who are have that little bit extra hunger who are really going to start to try to take it to Kristen but mostly what ends up happening 4 15. oh that is so turned jeez win just got it down that was bad all right keep turning oh gosh now this Pharaoh is really esplan pharaoh see if we can put a nice Heiser flip line into the headwind yeah yeah baby I love those discs that's pot make sure to punch through it sit down oh yeah good up you could also very much try this forehand this is one of the shots I really need to work out in my up shots right now yeah who do you guys think is actually gonna like beat Kristen next I was like Valentine might come back and like come back with a vengeance but we don't know when she's coming back I think Holland Hanley might do it it's either gonna be Holland or Ella okay for like 15 plus mile an hour headwinds I'm really bad at judging how much wind it is I think it's like 15-ish this is 33 so I am 38 feet out get it up honestly sometimes when I'm putting this bad it's helpful to like not worry about it too much just come back like two days later putt fixes itself okay I'm not done with Kristen yet because there's one more crazy stat she was like 96 from Circle 1X the only sugar one part she missed was her layup on 18 to Win It jeez should be pretty good let's talk about a couple names that oh are in the story lines this week first saw the Schultz if you don't follow him on Instagram what are you doing he makes some of the best most fun Instagram content out there he's been playing forever he's got a big family the Schultz family he's out of Louisiana and so he wins a lot down there he played at Tallahassee open he said he was working on his puddle a lot of last year so he didn't really have a lot of great finishes but this year he's kind of Coming Out Swinging and he was the only one who was pushing Isaac Robinson in the last round because he was 10 down through 11. almost aced one of the first nine holes and then ended up just kissing off a tree to not get him in inside the circle look for the eagle on Hall number 12 I think it is the par five so mad props to silence I cannot wait to see what he does on tour his form is just so beautiful one of the things I'm trying to mimic of his form a little bit is my off arm getting it down and having it because when even when I did that you saw it pushed my shoulder forward I mostly want to get it down outside my body so it lifts my other shoulder up without pushing it forward so he does that very well very beautiful he's been playing forever so kind of something it's kind of a line through this tree I think that'll be more fun to take Psych there we go and real quick that form piece with Silas that I was talking about don't do it if your off arm isn't causing you problems mine is actively causing me problems so I actively need to fix it if yours is passive and not doing anything and it's not causing you to early rotate don't change it please the last guy that we really need to talk about this week huh we'll talk about Paul McBeth a tiny bit guess he's washed a little bit but Nicholas Antonio oh it holds that's not good I wanted it to flip more turns over baby my forehand is a little more ready for the season than like any other part of my game and my forehand is not good Nicholas antila should we be calling him big money Nicholas he is the player tied with the most podiums in the last five Majors if you remember he was the one really pushing Ganon at usdgc last year so it seems like he really likes to show up when these big events happen and it's really impressive because these were two very different courses usdgc and WR Jackson and it's definitely not that Niklas plays poorly typically where's that Destroyer oh it's basically parked but I definitely say like as these next Majors come around even worlds talking European open back in his home country I believe Finland keep your eye out for Nicholas that was meant to be a lap actually I wasn't running that so I'm really happy with that play really practicing these little Annie laps since I mentioned them let's talk about the Mr Macbeth all right we get up on this little Ridge here there's a lake over there and this wind is ripping now it just went from like 10 to 20 to now 20 to 30ish 302 feet straight ahead of us there but Paul isn't having a bad year this year not any top fives I can remember you might have some I don't have all the stats pulled up I'm not that Mando well to his standards definitely a little bit lower and he's about to leave for Europe so is he going to be able to get enough points to get the final buy to the Pro Tour championships and yeah this might sound silly in three months when he's won two Elite Series won everything in Europe comes back wins a major over in Europe like that could happen but he doesn't seem inevitable this year same way he did last year of consistently being up there especially after the first little bit of the season 2015 homic math is definitely a no-show like we don't know where that guy went but I don't think that he's gotten worse the field is just really caught up he has so many other things that he's focusing on and business-wise it's not a bad thing if he doesn't play the best some people are going to chirp online but people in disc golf love chirping online believe me out but I don't think it's really going to affect the sales of a lot of his discs his Legacy isn't going to be impacted that much he's not finishing poorly he's not like missing the cast lines he's just not in the same top five top 10 Paul that we know so is he having a bad season for him for him yes it seems much more like a Tailwind than a left to right even though it's showing a lot of left or right yes it is definitely say the Champions Cup is starting to feel more and more like a major oh my gosh dude Yorks all right big drop off behind this one and there's a lot of wind heading up that way but that's why I think next year or the year after they need to decide what they're doing course wise if it wants to stay at WR Jackson you got to run cables you have to make sure that there's a permanent way that people can actually watch the coverage live and I think you probably have to open up not the fairways but the outside of the fairways and Titan instrument will be a lot of people were talking about how the course seems a little bit easy I don't think it's the easy course I think people were just shredding it difficulty doesn't really take when you look at the scrambling like it does when there is OB and someone changed to drive OB and then they still have to get up and down or even just Hazard should try glitch doing the next t-pad that one foreign and I know that historically disc golf has been a sport where you can expect double digits under par I think that the field is getting better and better so that's becoming more and more the reality meaning we need to make the courses a little bit harder or even just show that they're harder because if you make that the same course but you tighten in a little bit of the OBS or just add some Hazard or I heard a great suggestion but I think Stephen on debate night as I was listening to it on my way over here changing some of the pin positions every other round so that it's a slightly different course so you're not playing the same exact course four times in a row I think that's a great idea or building a second course on the property or making steady Ed a championship level like as difficult level course because I think it's really cool that one of our Majors is at the PDGA headquarters it makes it feel prestigious and maybe Champions Cup can become a rotating major but that course seems to have so much history and Prestige that it'd be awesome for it to stay there but cards issues as well as portraying the course difficulty issues and not making it as boring as it could be to watch I Didn't personally think it was that boring but I've heard that from a lot of people I think those definitely need to happen all right 385 all the way back there I think this is where we try to heat as well as the dynasty here okay it actually might be what I want now there's no wind okay okay it is different enough Heat's way better Heats way farther do you guys think that they'll have to add a second course or make it harder do you guys think it's even going to be there next year I don't quite know what my final thoughts are on it but I think my main parting thought is Prodigy is a big winner right now Isaac winning this again and having one again their players are still playing well even if Kevin Jones wasn't able to get into the tournament and I feel like that story of the Fiasco of getting signed up for the Champions Cup was very much overshadowed by a lot of the play and storylines that happened during the tournament so I guess get on the PDGA for making that happen definitely gotta practice my circle too for my tournaments I'm so bad at these right now not bad should I just put like this not the same result all right nine holes definitely enough definitely noticed that when I am focused on talking to you guys and it's not talking about my play even when I do talk about my Play My Place offers so I'm not talking about that this is very much not good for me and my confidence so I'm gonna turn the camera off please last nine holes and then go film some review videos where I'm sure I'll play a little bit better another story Calvin heinberg uh not playing bad not playing great maybe it just wasn't his tournament but I mean there were a lot of really good players who are having really great rounds and it's a lot harder when he's just keeps the disc in bounds and there's not a lot of OB Ganon also playing pretty decent tied seventh I think Calvin was in like the 15th Place or something like that neither of them played bad but those are the other two really hot starts to the year so we'll see what happens as they get back onto slightly more open courses that aren't 100 woods and do have some Moby to contend with man this one decided to come back out I'd really be interested in your thoughts overall in Champions Cup tldr coverage sucked it needs to get better win for Gomez Big L for this golf Network huge congrats to Isaac Robinson people calling him the next Chris Dickerson don't know if that's too early to tell but very excited to see what he does the rest of the season if you guys are
