Discmania Made a COSTLY MISTAKE With These Mystery Boxes!!!

over the new year discmania did something with this black mystery box that I think turned out to be a little bit costly and honestly it's not too big of a deal more than likely but it probably cost them a little bit of money and we'll talk about that today while we play 18 holes with just the mystery box here at bird's nest now what this Mania did isn't something that I think affects most people at least not completely but it did affect me pretty directly and I actually had to reach out to them about it no beef like no big deal at all but I do think they probably didn't sell as these as they could have if they had done this slightly differently hole one is like 490 maybe so it's like close to 500 ft down the hill start out the little influencer packet the rest of this thing which I never end up reading this I think we'll look at later I don't know what's in there we'll look at it after everything cuz it seems special but the first disc on top you already know swirly sine pd2 very overstable looking honestly kind of looks pretty comparable to the Conqueror from infinite this interested to see how overstable this is but who doesn't want to see a bomb to start the day oh it's beefy boy wow do off stop all right camera didn't get stolen that's good but the Conquer video this is before that so if I suck I shouldn't it's an overstable driver I shouldn't how to throw it wow beefy boy still not even that good part of me hopes there's another driver in here cuz there are some longer holes in this course so now before you roll your eyes at me with what I'm about to say I do have some like what I think to be good justifications for it but the reason that I say dis Mania made a costly mistake with this mystery box is I had seen all over social media all like the dis Mania pros and people sponsored by dis Mania opening up their black mystery boxes when that happens especially since I live like an hour and a half from the warehouse maybe even closer I like have mine in hand already and I was out of town so I was doing the Florida Christmas championship series I got back home and I knew I had some packages cuz my apartment has like this Amazon Hub blocker thing I was like sweet I'm going to get my Mystery Box open up all my packages and it wasn't there oh my and dis minia is like one of the main companies that doesn't really reach out to me before they send me stuff if I want to make a video out of it there's never any real obligation of course like if I just never make videos with this stuff they're going to stop sending it which would make sense but I also even though I have this channel I don't like ever feel titled to getting a box or a disc from a company a lot of times it's in their best interest to spend like literally if it's like they sending me two or three disc like $20 with shipping included like this box maybe like $40 or $50 probably less like in terms of their costs for me to make a review but I'm not entitled to getting this stuff for free just cuz I have this channel so I recept this maning I was like hey but I noticed that the pros are getting them and I haven't really seen any content creators and I was like hey this is like not a plan for the marketing we got o feels like a putter an EXO soft link 2301 I don't really think I've thrown these that much oh my oh I got the shanky MC Shanker today but when I had reached out it was like during the New Year kind of Christmas break when I don't know who's in the office who was on vacation and they got back and they're like no like I should be coming to you soon like we plan on Sudden and get out to all the craters and whatnot and then maybe 3 days later when they got back into the warehouse like crap we didn't send these to the influencers so really none of the Creator boxes got sent out also I failed to say this as we're starting the video video but I need to shoot nine down here today that's the goal if I don't shoot nine down for every stroke worse than nine down we're going to give one of these guys away over an Instagram and so they dm' me and they were like oh shoot we didn't send any of them out we'll send it out to you here soon unfortunately one of the things I've learned about YouTube is if you review something two weeks after like kind of peak hype for the thing the review is going to wind up doing significantly worse than you might expect unless it's kind of a disc that will stay Evergreen but since all the dmania pros had all put out their stuff there weren't really in like the selling season maybe they still have them available I'm not quite sure but I know that kind of the influencer marketing campaigns especially since it's not even really influencer marketing it's just like sending free stuff instead of actually paying for the marketing them kind of missing out on that in what I would assume is the right time frame videos seem to be going up sporadically some of them aren't even going up at all and then this one I kind of had to like tell this story to really build the Intrigue instead of saying hey black mystery box cuz it's going to people are going to care a little bit less about the mystery box even though I want to shoot the video and it's going to be a lot of fun and I appreciate this Mania so I want to also put this video up and frankly this is an interesting question and even though I am a part of like the disc golf creator influencer sphere I'm not going to sit here and say oh yeah this is like the most important so much money gets made for these companies off of influencers and it is true that that's the case but I don't there's no numbers on percentages and I'm sure companies they're not even tracking it they're all still small businesses even though in disc golf they seem like large entities most of them are like still what you'd probably consider small to midsize businesses so I'm interested to like I don't think they have numbers but to know like how much of a difference versus their expectation did they sell or how long how much longer did it take them to sell since the hype by all the influencer videos didn't really come out in one wave like they typically will end up doing ooh up the hill ooh Lux Vapor fd1 sick disc I do have to remember to throw on anahis today this thing feels pretty sweet oh it's so straight wow I finally threw like a good shot today though oh I Juiced it I'm like super interested in the busy side of a lot of things which is why this is a very intriguing video for me to make cuz I get to be a little speculative but also take off my clev Lumberjacks hat and put on my business hat and just think about what might be going on behind the scenes at some of these companies of course I'm still very new to the sport and very new to like the business of disc golf but since this is like my main passion I'm really interested in buying an equity or building some sort of business in dis golf something that might is that is maybe different than what is out there now but these type of things really intrigue me especially because it say influencer business which is like my main thing right now cuz I don't know how big of a part of the marketing plan of some of these companies this is but it's definitely there based on how much they want to reach out with stuff nice we need at least a flippy mid-range if it's a stable mid-range maybe if it's faster than that we're good next oh it's a mid oh it's a stable mid it's on the line of stuff iron Samurai 4 doesn't even look like a misper or anything this thing is sick e man Signature Series rip we could give ourselves a look I threw it nose up like a dingdong I'm really struggling with I'm trying some new cues out wow that is so bad I definitely think I'm overthinking it a little bit try out this rage Stone the fd1 oh my gosh it is so straight wow so I just realized how terribly like muddy the straps of this thing get and so if you're seeing some wood all over me today I'm sorry one CU that I think will help me with kind of throwing nose up the whole day today is I'm like getting better with my queue here but my shoulders are a little tight right now from like workouts and so almost to the place where I want to be and then they just like open up cuz they don't like stay in this position and so they just kind of open up and the disc goes nose up so I think thinking about being over the disc and so getting back here and then staying over the disc almost kind of with my chest not exactly what it that will look like but how it'll feel I think it'll be helpful for me to throw nose down again money one through four we're going to have to pick it up can't blame the disc we've had pretty decent disc selection on at least half of these holes Straight Ahead like 250 260 maybe I'm guessing now it's going to give me a driver kind of yes oo what the Seine xout fd3 never really thrown an fd3 before at least not much I don't remember if I have my forand is so bad right now that this is like the most easy forand hole ever so short if I can't beforehand a C fd3 I'm going to have to quit this gol we don't have to quit good signs I'm definitely interested to see how that kind of the Creator landscape continues to evolve over the course of the next 3 to 5 years I of course am hoping to push it forward in a lot of different ways and kind of blending the Creator 2 Pro rather than Pro to Creator the opposite of what's been done before at least seemingly big thank you to infinite for kind of taking a chance of sponsoring me cuz it is different than the other creative sponsorships that have happened in the past and it's also different than the player sponsorships that happen so I'm excited to see kind of where this pans out over the course of this year thank you guys for your support on all my discs cuz the site that I always have linked down in the description shameful plug has been doing better than they expected which is awesome so I really really appreciate that but Tour series is ordered should be here in the next couple months but I'm just super interested to see kind of what happens because there's so many different avenues that things can be pushed forward and if you're wanting to create content kind of take things from from other niches that have worked that you haven't seen in disc golf yet and try it and don't like try it once and this doesn't work try it 5 10 times like it's going to you're going to need to put quantity in I'm interested to see kind of how things grow and how you guys push this space forward I'm obviously going to try to do that as well but it's going to be cool I think it'll help this golf grow a lot and hopefully be recognized more by these companies as something that is very very beneficial for them as I'm guessing is what happened with these mystery boxes all right whole six one of my favorite holes on the course kind of I don't know I just like it cuz it's like a kind of distance threshold marker for me for some disc like getting seven to n speeds here now and pumped about eventually it'll be getting mids cuz it's 390 ft slightly uphill next we have looks like that last one maybe was oh my gosh we're not going to P2 there maybe more than likely not though it's so over stable we'll have a steeper at it we might be in circle two there oh my gosh I kind of shanked that a little right I've got the shanies today and I think we got our last disc in the Box which is kind of surprising for hole 7 and it is ooh cine FD unfortunate for this hole it's 420 ft but these I know I think have some stability I don't know I think they're color dependent almost 176 so I'm going to rip see if we can't get close to like having some sort of PT dude that was ripped that came out humming it's a little right in my intended line but that came out humming oh my gosh so I do know that the FD goes far but that also came out on my hand and like I used those cues I was working on and it came out with some steam cuz we are P high on this hole that's crazy also kind of look staged cuz of how the red is right in the white snow so I guess believe me or not dang it if it rolled we're screwed if it didn't we got to tap it are you serious bro I thought there might actually I remember in the red one there wasn't like something in the bottom of these boxes but this one might have something next one's 300 straight away so any disc can get there oh there's something in the bottom oo Neo dd3 oh Thunderstone dd3 is just the sine ones have been pretty F I wonder how flippy this is Skip in oh it's so long whoa that was farther than I expected if I Ace this eagle has to go back to dis Mania sorry Eagle you don't have a choice oh my gosh dude that was perfect the probably G be a dynasty guy now but they sent me a prototype cd1 doy doer than the other Seine ones not the right disc for this hole it's like 270 should be parked I will say what this round really shows me personally is the power of warming up actually well I came to film this video a little time constrained today and so I was like I'll throw a couple warmup shots blah blah blah kind of the BS that we all tell our eles especially being sore and being sore my pecs which are breaking muscles for the throw I need to get some blood flow to them so still remember hey we can work so maybe for me that's like some push-ups or whatnot I don't really know but trying to find tune a warmup not not like one specific warm-up but just like kind of taking stock of your body what feels like it's ready to go what feels like it isn't and uh then making it happen so but we just got to four down through the front nine and if we're playing the way we've been playing these last two holes we're going to get them all maybe we're going to ace them all honestly let's be real what's up man hey man what's up so I have unfortunate news for you I'm out at bird's nest I was on hole eight uh I threw my first shot and I'm playing with the discmania mystery box and then I pulled this one out which I already pulled I was like if I Ace with this eagle has to go back to this Mania and then I aced with it so do you have anything that you want to say about your move back to this Mania now well thank you MVP it was short but sweet um yeah congratulations to banza for yeah man I'm sorry to have to do that to you I'm sure it's a lot of money lose but it's for a good cause massive shout out to Eagle for getting on the FaceTime with me it's the first time we've I think technically interacted I played a practice round in front of him at The Preserve and we might have talked that but that's an even count P2 Straight Ahead gosh there's so much mud everywhere I think I don't know why this happens at the most random times but this mix of cues right now I don't I haven't looked at it but the way that it feels and the way that I'm interpreting the way that I'm throwing is exactly how I want to be throwing and I don't know what happened but it's like the stuff that I've been working on since November since I was with Drew for some reason in this round right now is coming together let's go straight ahead about 250 280 maybe little head window step now this video is not turning into a form video but you just never know when like these things are going to strike and so I've noticed I think I started to overthink even slightly just on a one shot appreciate the ride and so really name of the game is just don't think too much just throw oh no definitely got there I think that's where I made a snake there I long putt but that's really where I needed to throw like disc up and instead of just throwing just the Hiser the whole way which is what it was and it skipped a lot like this the Thunderstone the Neo dd3 that will have time to like because it's going to get it like gets slower since it's so fast it doesn't really move as much on the ground as you saw there maybe even like I wonder if I can even get the fd3 there but just something that the faster the disc those both probably got to the same slowness as they move towards the ground but the FD because it requires so much less speed to be kept on the line that it wants to travel on is going to stay on that Hiser the dd3 kind of gets a little more knify as it slows down which is what you want on a shot like this to just kind of hit and stick or you can just like throw an fd3 over stability we'll do that all the wrong choices today so the dd3 checks up because of the speed the fd3 checks up because of the over stability and the FD or all of these I guess could stall out and check up because of nose up but because I threw them all at a neutral to nose down angle they didn't really do that the dd3 I threw the most nose up because of the distance control oh too high dang I like that link a lot I'm going to throw C on see I get the P2 there get out of it not going to lie didn't think I could throw a poter this far against the cross cuz on anheiser against the wi the whole time that's kind of crazy this hole's like 550 down the hill I don't quite think I can eat it right now I might be able to give myself a look though I just have to connect with it well oh it's not that flippy dang it I was going to say we don't really have a good forehand disc then I remembered we have the ft3 which is a little fast but I think it would be perfect for this jump in oh my gosh we are on one today I don't know what's going on 250 five right at the middle maybe I don't get a good release with that I don't know but it's come out more Hiser than I think every time and I feel like slipped down my fingers probably just need I feel it cuz it's comfortable and then I feel like I get laxidasical with my grip whereas the P2 I won't because it's so deep that it comes out where I want cuz I focus more on the grip that's literally the shot that I wanted to throw with whole 16 we need two more birdies 17 if I don't get it you need to unsubscribe from the channel I turned it too much no way good kick I do really like the up the middle play and I think the Lux Vapor fd1 would be perfect for it but it's just so gimmicky when you have the hisers Bimi I mean Parky whatever stupid Anthony a little silly boy we have to get these last two we can Eagle this one if we throw the right shot drift drift drift man more anheiser come on I can get there now that was like semi- nose up and flat not even anheiser and I got that top shelf which I've never gotten to before no it's so low it's such a good line though
