He Throws The CRAZIEST Shots On The DISC GOLF PRO TOUR!!! [Jake Wolff BSF Practice Round (F9)]

welcome to the beber state presented by Inova right after Portland open pretty similar area today for the front n we have Jake wolf one of the most interesting arms on tour I'm super excited to play with him see his game and just talk through athletic background how he stays in shape with just playing this golf from living on the road fulltime course is beautiful I've heard it keeps just getting changed more and more from what the typical Milo has have you played here before for this is the the First full practice round that I'll play so sweet we'll get it started whole one the rain is out for only today and then it's going to be beautiful for the rest of the days so that's the plan I dragged them out here for this unfortunately how many how many D you got in there uh since half of them are up there probably got about 45 left oh my gosh one go lately it's it's been been hovering around 52 to 54 even so even with changing to be completely open bag now you're still like oh I got this oh I'm going to put more in in my practice rounds I don't have my Putters in there because I'm working on building in different discs so wow I uh I put even more in there cuz more fit without the putters the basket is behind this tree 455 those are two Venoms that one look look at it see which side's better to miss on you're mostly Hiser forehand guy right yeah oh my we haven't had a headwind this whole time yikes I've been sitting here for like an hour just throwing stuff and this is the first headwind just right in time for the video it shouldn't be too bad overall though oh I made it oh go in ah weak collecting discs in all of Jake's discs are like super flat the puddle to every single one do you have any discs that are not crazy flat yeah some of them okay this limit's not that bad yeah the limits are uh most people most people would not like throwing my bag no this is crazy this one is weird what do you a 149 star td2 what are you think for if I want to just pipe one down a tunnel with a tomahawk that one believe it or not is like a it's like anybody else's dead straight putter because all it does is it cork screws and then gets on the ground and kind of fishtails but it it always stays straight it doesn't flare left that's your putter I gu your upshot putter is a 149 td2 yeah that makes sense I've got an Uplink that's not that flat why do you like the flatter ones they're more torque resistant if they're flat and since I throw I really don't know why I throw the way that I do as far as the grip goes but I think it's my grip that actually makes things kind of flutter out of my hand but I can spin it more it feels like a a standard stack but I hold it loose in my hand mhm I think it allows me to spin it more but it I think it creates some more off AIS torque so the flatter discs definitely they definitely help a lot there we go oh weak sauce dud how do you typically go by your practice rounds with all these discs and why how what kind of slots are you trying to fill with all of them right now the biggest thing I'm working on is really old fd3s mhm that these two flag exactly the same 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 I guess um nine speeds in there so I'm trying to make sure to fill that slot like that's the slot I'm working on most right now I've got all the other slots kind of filled are so you're trying to get more or dwindle it down I'm trying to cut it down into like which which runs of things I want with the open bag I've got a ton of options so I'm trying to make sure I got the best grip most consistent flight replaceable discs the run that I want to roll with and then you know three four five of those so I'm not scared to throw it next to water and lose my favorite disc type of thing this one's interesting feel like that's more of a safer one that one's bombed hopefully that tree up there that second shorter tree is so in the way to try to get it into position for the next shot the first two shots are much more difficult than the third shot for the birdie it's just getting in position for a birdie yeah it looked pretty tough if you're not going to be overly aggressive yeah cuz it's it's pretty the OB is pretty tight like I threw a shot yesterday I was playing it blind I threw a shot and then I thre a second that was like through the left Gap up there and I was like oh that's probably fine I was like OB by 10 ft I was like oh wow 1200t just kind of curving right the whole way there's a lot more room right than it's more position golf than you think it is yeah just going to try to iser flip this Emperor I have heard of people throwing rollers off the tea do you throw rollers at all oh I throw a ton of rollers they just go the opposite way that one might be good oh I just realized you have a whole beach towel oh I'm about to flip it over the rain's picking up if anything right now it's annoying it was supposed to chill out after like yeah it was supposed to we were we were going to miss it that's Portland what's up braen dude going to rip through oh perfect nice job dude all right br's playing through I got about 440 to the 450 tree kind 440 to the 450 yeah kind at the ground early just need to give it some more my my last step is really wide it feels like you get very rewarded for getting near one of those gaps up there yeah I think this hole is actually like a really good design that looks like it's just kind of thrown in there no it's like a lot tougher than it looks I don't know it looks kind of tough maybe it's not tougher than it looks flier position ooh little Skippy that be a long look I don't feel like I get rewarded for the safe one there's a lot of room out here too where you would be landing yeah it's just it's just hitting that Gap up there cuz I'm throwing it directly at that tree trunk and working it off of that and if I hit that stuff with something too stable that's when it gets a little dicey full power boss just get it up there as far as it'll go coming out of it oo well you got 450 in almost it was almost so good but I that's what I was talking about I feel like the design of this hole is is so good if I had thrown it I don't know 5T to the right that's an easy shot yeah this first shot is a lot more specific than You' think it is oh hello Cloud breaker I think that's Austin's was there another it is is awesome all right rain's going away a little bit okay this is not as bad of a shot as I thought from way back out of position the basket's basically straight ahead you might be able to see tassels way down there um some people from this position might take a roller I think I'm just going to try to play the same disc down the flex side give myself a 50-footer I don't know I threw two very mediocre shots to get to this position if you could try to get overly aggressive for birdie that might be silly after you're throwing pretty mediocre shots so oh get around it got jedge keep skipping shill probably like I said 50 50 60 ft let's see what Austin Turner's cloudbreaker will do for us let me tell you don't send it left it's bad mainly the guy who usually throws it do you ever throw a non Heiser 4 and is the reason you have so many discs because I was just about to say this shot right here could not be more uncomfortable because it takes away the tomahawk that I could throw around there and get one to kind of slide around and it takes away my normal angle so I basically have to I mean like I consider throwing a roller just purely out of get it under this branch and not be in trouble but sadly there's OB everywhere I think this is one where I'm I'm probably going to mark it and then throw something just Mega stable are all your forehands coming out Hiser and is that why you have so many discs so that you can throw the same angle yep so I'm I'm trying to use the disc to to make the shape for me and that that's a big piece of why I test so many things so there's sometimes where it's just like this just doesn't break at this right time it's like just a little off with and so you kind of it's better to throw different angles sometimes but if you can carry 130 discs maybe you find one for every slot there you go yeah get over there to the right let's take a long putt see what we can do with it roll to the next hole without getting any penalties mentally like the momentum that you get from like just taking a safe par versus taking a bogey you almost like I noticed myself getting a little more panicked when you're on the tour and you're getting a bogey you're like oh no I got to get that back immediately this this part is kind of chilling where you're at I could certainly see that see like right here let's see that 70t catch we've got a yeah I would if I had my Putters I don't ever the reason I don't do that I had a lot of success at the end of last last year obviously this year it's taking me a while to kind of get ramped up but I had a ton of success playing my practice rounds into get it to Circle one as fast as I can and count that focus on the process rather than ever putting up a score in my practice rounds so that I don't have a number in my head so that I don't limit myself cuz I had never had anything over uh 1040 and then put up to 1060s last year and I feel like that helped me a lot M to not put a ceiling yeah on myself so that's why I do some of the crazy stuff that I do that's one of them so yeah I'm not putting this I'm just going do you throw for up shots from how far away typical like 150 to 290 range what are you typically throwing one of these probably are they still drivers yeah you mad man I'm just thr hopefully like if I've got a ceiling to work with you like forehand any W so yeah I mean it depends so if it's if I've got a low ceiling then I'm going to throw like a Berg bur X or Zone that I got from Adam this week this thing's sick way better than the other one I had or like a z0 type of thing roller uh Toros I mean how long you want me to go we'll see some of that on this course for sure oh the one of the best things that I've heard um was something that he somebody Gary Player or some some older golfer said to him was take aggressive swings at conservative targets really really Focus go hard at the conservative put it in edge of circle or 4550 ft range so you just switched to be open bag very recently right yeah what kind of made that decision happen for you as much as you're able or willing to share yeah I mean there's a lot of things I think it applies to me way more than other people who would use dynamic or Trilogy stuff I think there's a lot of problems with my game and in fact I know there's a lot of problems with my game but but when I've got the tools to work with I can be elite at the things that i' I'm good at M if I've got more to work with and it just wasn't the right fit and that's that's got to be okay with everybody right so I've got some other places that I could I could be in the future or I've got you know right now I've got all the options in the world and I'm going to just see how high I can go so were there any like contractual difficulties of getting out of that early no I mean luckily luckily I'm so new that you know I'm not I'm not Ricky or some other people that have no idea what they you know what they go through I don't know their contracts but I know it's not mine so I'm lucky enough to have the freedom to kind of do whatever I need to do right now yeah I'm just trying to find my place in the game and add to add to it as a whole as as much as I can get left of it maybe it's a tomahawk maybe it's a tomahawk it wasn't before are there any runs of disc that you want people to reach out to you that you would buy from them um TBD on that one what I was throwing was the new gosage Raptor here the way that you throw overstable 9 speeds makes me so jealous I feel like that one isn't super overstable I did throw them they're not that overstable but still for handing a Hiser flip with a raptor 400 ft 430 ft I think it did when it's all you do you can get good at it what's your athletic background if you had to take a wild guess lacrosse you said wild bro all baseball all baseball to what level and uh so I played I played division one at uh Ferman University Upstate of South Carolina and it's funny how that built it it built my game because I I had like micro tears in my UCL um I started losing velocity in my junior year of college when I was throwing over the top and all of a sudden I started throwing down here so that's why I end up throwing like so I started throwing submarine my junior year at College just to not get surgery I didn't want to go I didn't want to go pro like every baseball player wants to go pro if they can just to see if they can do it but I've had a lot of family members that kind of saw how that goes for people it's so hard to make it and that lifestyle just it it's not fun traveling all over the place playing 150 something games so I just figured out how to throw any way that my arm would let me so I started throwing here and that's my forand and then Tomah Hawks my what I used to do so prepared me for disc off oh gosh throne's so terrible that's a safe one though yeah that was one of the things I I remember on this hole is like I was surprised at how much wind was up there that I couldn't feel let's keep it low stay over it swing so this is the short one the first one where' the gossip dror go cuz that thing it was the same thing on the other side I thought it I thought it was perfect I thought it was going to be in The Bu gosh outside of the circle yeah it's this it was the exact same distance way I honestly do think if I threw it 6 in lower it's in the bullseye cuz it hits into that yeah but when it comes around here and it's like skipping the whole way there are times I'm not very far away from just putting with drivers yeah yeah that'll work I think so I hope so it just about anybody that can throw a forehand can uh birdie from that one I'll mess it up somehow all right Austin let's see how good your Cloud breaker is again sucks God that disc sucks I keep checking what in my pocket cuz I never put anything in my pocket it keeps getting me the mic back what are you throwing for that shot that is an MVP phase that is so straight it's my backand one of them I love that version of my backand threw it a ton last week Austin you see what you make us do oh man it's going to look like I put my hand in a blender oh what a guy die terrible where the heck is this basket straight you can than where I was standing I do like the cap rat for just like landing on the number oh that might have hit that got really close throw it up there and it just turns into a little bit of a blade get this crap out of my hand yeah gross disc my gosh he's for handing his on this I think that hit the base of it let's go I feel pretty good about it I thought I threw that really well I might have gone too far you see 18 ft good old he'll do it for Brody was that a scuber yeah for Brody oh that was that's money dude with this disc that's kind of tough straight ahead you guys probably remember this hole if you watched any covers before it goes over the the road pretty cool hole looks very different from here that tree you don't actually need to be right of it you need to be right or left in a little bit short of the road um but if you get right of that tree you have a pretty simple putter cross um so he'll probably throw like a td2 or something sometimes you can hit the tree though and like do that instead and like then you're chilling for no reason I'm confident in hitting that tree I guess go two for two driver Fairway here we'll throw a mid we we'll get the whole we'll get run the gamut on them if you do it again oh oh it's too flippy no I think you got it still I think I got the base maybe yeah all right I'm going to I'm going to try to avoid that tree what is in your hand right now entropy h oh it actually is a putter it is it's you're going to see a putter that's stable that goes left oh that's a sick backhand dude that back hand's money it's better than my backand think that that ceiling is tough uh-huh for you that it is yeah whole six it's like 445 there's a ob short which makes the hole pretty interesting cuz I threw two that were like decent shots that probably skipped up to like 45 ft but they were both too low so they're in the OB I think so it's a four more than likely but we'll try a pharaoh yeah there's the Miss yeah go past it about as vertical as they come there oh yeah it was short nice you could skip it yeah these two were they should have skipped in but they got caught up by stuff back here and that's still like a look that's an interesting question right there like do you take a chance that you throw a Skippy shot and hope that that or that catches your misses or you just pure it and get through right cuz if you go high and you hit stuff then you can go over worst case you're far enough to where yeah you're putting from right here that I mean yeah I think looking at it more I almost want to throw it and like make sure oh we forgot to throw the Austin this dang it um I want to make sure he messed this hole up yeah I probably make sure to be a little rter because this stuff will catch you and if you slide through here hole if you mess up it's kind of it's kind of be going to be the same thing as if you threw it like 100t short of the basket I don't know I don't know if that makes a good hole or or not but that's more of the well it was going to be where the back hands are going to end up I still think even opened up this hole is eh let's get out of it hope for a birdie but just make sure you don't bogey hole
