first practice round being back in Colorado I almost said the year it kind of feels like it because after cashing at the Kansas city wide open I feel like my game and like my enjoyment of it has just like gone to it like a different level so it feels completely new I'm playing a safari layout at Expo Park just to Colorado park for something called the 3D the Dragon Disc down or something like that that looks so far it's a star all right this one's 760. all the way down there into a ripping headwind so probably a couple easily over 400 foot rips that you need to have I'd like to be a little more right so I can attack it that's better one of the main reasons that's so much better is because all path and Beyond are OB so I want to be able to throw a big hyzer as our second shot on this hole instead of what I'm gonna have to do here I actually don't hate this but I don't like having to throw a forehand into a headwind and that's why that's OB get a skip oh no don't need to throw that forehand are you trying to honor this is one of the things that I really like to do during my practice rounds which is figure out from each of the potential Landing zones I'll be in what comfortable shots I have getting to the basket stay safe for longer for instance the anhyzer like I said stay safer for longer but I'm hoping to not have to play from this left side so we're gonna practice from the shot that I turned over a little bit better the only issue is I tend to overdo my practice rounds and throw too many shots so if you're trying to do this method definitely watch out for that foreign this is the hard part about practice rounds because that this is my forehand that I want to throw here too this did answer a big question I had on this hole which is do I have the power to get there into this 10 15 inch mile an hour headwind answer is yes from either position that I was at doesn't this basket look huge this basket looks massive right so you probably heard it a couple times now but I'm actually talking with my caddy or Caddy's plural I guess because it's a whole family who helped me out at How the West Was Won the first lead car appearance that I had you guys might have seen that Ace that I made during that tournament leaves my hand a little bit inside but it should be a good shot no matter what but that's one of the things that can also be helpful in a practice challenge is to have the caddies there with you so they can get a layup how you're throwing and also give their input definitely mention this a decent bid in a lot of my practice rounds but name of the game for me is just seeing can I birdie and what are the shots that I can birdie with not playing for score so full two double Mana between these trees it's like 230 feet you could punch something low at it it is a Tailwind I kind of don't mind the high play a little too much honestly the grass is so grabby unless you throw firewood out of there let's try to Ace it oh still worked it's been a lot of times and I've had like a little bit of ego with like oh it's 230 feet so I should be throwing a putter or it's 300 feet I should be throwing a midwear this shot right now the easiest thing for me to do over and over and over again is throw an overstable nine speed straight through that Gap super low that's what I'm gonna do it's 230 feet just get the bird it doesn't matter what this ski used to do it so Brandon who runs these tournaments does a really good job with giving us like course maps and OB breakdowns and like the lines when there's multi-colored Flags it's OB if it's one it's Hazard if it's blue it's an island I feel like he does such a good job with that 290 Mando left to this tree so you can't throw the big hyzer but I still kind of think you can throw a little bit of a flex because otherwise you gotta hit that Gap I think we're gonna do like a safer play which is just an on or on hyzer oh it's so low and terrible yeah I think I really just like my almost overstable nine speed better yeah I think that's the play all right basket's way down there another little hyzer nice Denver shot that was the one tree to miss but I think that's close I don't know what the ground play is like it's 454 to clear we're going not to that basket you can see but two one across the water I call it 636 a short hyzer and then a long hyzer sea which one feels better that one feels pretty OB to me actually it's safe I'm super rubber stable to start I think that's probably good Landings on one of two 340 feet away here one more oh B dang of course the one shot I wasn't recording I tried from another Landing Zone because people were fishing the disc out as you guys saw I threw my ultra thought it cleared them no problem ended up being a little short in the headwind and it hits the one dude in the nuts and I wasn't the one thing I wasn't filming that's the first thing he asked the last time I was having a practice round Chase aced and now this time I had to do the nuts why do I have all this contact hole six is double man to about 310 feet I'm just practicing both the backhand and the forehand depending on the wind but I'm much more comfortable kind of dragging that forehand from right to left with my Firebirds especially because that Pathfinder that I just threw pushed about 40 ish long so I decided to practice the Flex Shot which definitely turned out to be the best thing for the way that I'm liking to throw a disc right now much better all right hole seven playing into a right to left just to OB bulb around everything gotta do something artificial a lot of these courses they only call it 325 it looks a little farther I think it's gonna be either honor or CD One that's pretty good feels pretty good it's always feeling a little like fluky when I just like throw the perfect shot at the first one but I need to trust that I know my discs and know my decisions I say this because there's another like five throws that I threw that I totally didn't need to and just like stick to it so I think we're gonna try to throw Max Two Shots on the rest of these holes but I mean I'm gonna be playing my round in less than 15-ish hours so you definitely want to take it a little easier honestly probably just throw like one shot each if it's a good shot because I know I can't cheat in the tournament and it's like can I do it it's not it's not a fluky shot you know what I mean honor it is for sure just pump a hyzer in there maybe even Firebird honestly basket through here there's a double Mando between some trees that are down there 505 Par Four you still do want it to be oh those are way farther than I thought throw Destroyer it's 425 to those trees they just range still that's a better shot playing darts and I expecting a lot of skip so I can throw my more of a stable Zone there it is oh I still kind of had some groundplay maybe you should throw my get freaky all right hole nine starts us on a pretty tough little area of the course I think this one's a par 4 678. I'm wondering if it's just a chip forehand or try to flex a backhand around that tree I'm gonna throw the same forehand it might be a backhand oh my gosh dude those are three of the worst shots you could throw I don't say much to throw a CD One all right our basket is up and to the left this will look like a great spot until I got up here and it's like a pen pen no headwind oh so something that I didn't do here but I would definitely recommend is I threw a lot of really bad tee shots but I might not throw that but have a tee shot in the tournament and I hope that I don't so I should probably practice from some better Landing zones to see what shot it takes to get to the basket if you actually throw a good one for it worst I would be very happy with F3 but I'm content with a four can't take anything worse though all right this hole is crazy we got to this basket down here is not where we're going but that's the first landing Zone because there's a Mando left of that tree we're going par five all the way down there I think it's like 420 feet to the basket we're playing into a headwind name goal is just throw inside of that tree it's flat to hyzer that's perfect basket is still a pump this is a great drive though that's perfect it should be a pretty decently simple Chip Shot in from there if my video stinks today you guys know why actually smells not like it's bad looks like a Zone with a forehand yeah I gotta stop trying to run all these don't I keep thinking it's not going to skip too much I do need to be throwing this get free yeah definitely need to be thrown like a freaky more also that disc is from one of my caddies he's 12 and that's for par so feel free he's the play yeah this ground is actually pretty hard right here so good to know that's honestly one of the main benefits I find in practice rounds is seeing how the ground action is because Landing your disc on the ground is one of the most important skills in disc golf and the ground's softness or hardness causes a lot of the difficulty hole 11 for us you see tier 13 that's for the AMD which is the day after 11 is the island hole basically just want to put it under the baskets only 275 feet should be relatively simple on a forehand or a backhand just depends on how the wind is blowing either into or off of that Lake honestly might be worth it to just like throw a spike with the firebird on the backhand too but must be pretty easy anyways not a triple tricky little hole man to the left here I think it's like 250 feet and that's honestly all I'm gonna let myself say off the tip out of here because I threw a couple shots to think about like a flex play I thought that behind the basket there was going to be some OB and so I tried some pretty conservative Flex plays this other anhyzer through the Mando and then get back towards the basket except this is one of those holes where a really good idea is to walk towards the end of the hole or at least look back at the t-pad from where the basket is because it really showed me that I can go really high and really hard not with the mid-range but with something like a firebird and I don't have a lot of danger of juicing it past the basket into any sort of OB so sometimes if you're having trouble figuring out a hole definitely look at it back from the basket towards the t-pad and it might unlock some things for you oh it's so straight let's go oh I throw a destroyer geez I think there was a tail and drop that I'm gonna count for yeah something's definitely keeping it over right I'll take that though there we go it's not that hard was it definitely one to get acquainted with the death Putt and the goose poop honestly look at all this crap this was great I really like that play see you once close it's like a Destroyers inbounds I'm gonna be honest this is getting to be the point in the practice round where it is not setting me up for Success the whole point of this is to get obviously acquainted with the course to figure things out but I don't like this where it's relatively straightforward I don't need to be throwing all of these shots because it is just tiring me out especially when I'm about 13 hours out from the start of my first round and a two-day tournament and the beating Sun recording this voice over the tournament is actually over you'll get those rounds coming over the next couple of days and I won't spoil anything for you now but there absolutely was an effect on how much I was throwing on this day because the next hole I started feeling something in my knee driving home I felt something in my hand and my elbow and those aren't things that are just going to go away for the tournament tomorrow even if you try to hydrate and eat well which I was doing there is too much when it comes to a practice round and this practice round video might be an example of that so interestingly I'm in the point right now my practice round where putting is gonna be really bad for me because I've kept missing putts and so I'm gonna stop putting for now to their practice at the very end of the round I just put out that whole not on camera and I think I missed like every now all of them and it's just because I'm tired and I'm not feeling like I need to focus up so I'm not so no need to practice bad putts practice making it before the tournament and uh just figure out these holes and then do a lot of practice putting that's intentional well 15 is very interesting because there's two islands of OB so you either have to get between them or super left which I'm kind of trying to do here the wind is not good for it and the t-pad is honestly really well placed to make it really difficult for you to get to that super left Landing Zone so I don't know if that's in between the landing zones or if it's over them all I think it's in between luckily I step up to both of my destroyers and because I just threw them on pretty hard like 80 to 90 hyzers they're actually in the middle of the landing Zone which is kind of perfect benefits of not throwing crazy far so I knew that if I could just make that repeatable shot with my overstable Destroyer the next day it should be relatively simple and I can just chip up a Zone like I try to do here as well I'll put these ones out and it does always feel good to get practice around birdies with your first shots because it makes you feel a little bit smart foreign that's one of the things that I really like about this whole 16 for us has a bunch of different ways that you can attack it but all of them are relatively scary because the OB Narrows and narrows and narrows on two sidewalks that kind of converge into the basket so if you get a pin High you don't even have 30 feet either side of the basket to play with so I decided through my forehand just to see if I could get it there because it is 370 feet slightly uphill and I then check on the turnover with my strike as well as a big just straight to Hyster shot with my Destroyer they weren't awful but the play definitely seems to be the forehand so that you carry and Bounds the most more than happy with that forehand just outside the circle but come on dude okay I should definitely should have stuck to the no putting rule 17 is a pretty cool in my opinion we're playing through some baseball fields so you have to play out to a landing Zone and straight up a gap which is probably about 300 feet and there's OB encircling the basket and a drop off behind it so I think this is going to be a great like second to last finishing hole might be a little short maybe you should take a fiber foreign that's also shaped but that'll work this is a tough shot we're already finishing home all the way through there 500 foot Par Four should be a gimme because the distance but gotta play The Landing Zone shot to that basket pitch across with Obi behind it's gonna make things a little interesting that's pretty much what you need a good way to finish on lead card second round because I finished on 18 then huh good combo all right feeling kind of ready to go feels like double digits for both rounds could be in the cards but honestly I don't have a lot of expectations I'm just trying to enjoy myself I'm on second card tomorrow which is just whoever is out second so let's keep it second or first card after the first shot I think it's like 30 Pros so it's a good field hopefully I need some bit of cash and hopefully we can take a little bit at home and just keep the catfish alive oh watch yesterday's video which set me up very well for today right down here and I'll see you tomorrow thanks
