I NEVER Want To Throw This Disc Again... [2 Round Tournament w/ ONLY the AGL Baobab]

I have my first two round event of the year today is before seven o'clock normally I wake up like 15 minutes but today I have four layers on top and three layers on the bottom because I went to the weather to check and I was like hopefully it's not in the 30s it's not it's in the 20s for basically the whole time so that'll be fun but this tournament is gonna be super weird because you get there they give you a Baobab which if you don't know has zero guide literally and you have to play two rounds at a course with just like one of the most overstable discs ever made yeah this is gonna be the coldest I've ever played disc golf well we got here this is what the course looks like today this is gonna be a blast let's grab our desk stay warm I can do the luck part I can't do the warm part all right I'm starting on hole 18 trying to stay warm to actually add hand warmers got a really colorful Bab luckily it's a baseline not the premium ones because I imagine this will be a little more throwable but not by a lot yeah I'm excited hopefully we make a card but we're just here to have fun all right so we're stepping up to Hole number 18 which is where we're getting started 298 feet downhill honestly as you guys have been watching this channel you know that I am struggling to throw anhyzers especially nose down but we get a decent rip on this one which leaves us about a 35 40 foot look just outside the circle this is what was happening all day though is cleaning off my discs was taken probably a full 30 seconds so glad this wasn't pdj sanctioned because I was probably like 45 seconds on every single one tap in for an easy par and the name of the game today is going to be taking easy parse hole number one we pitch up a big hyzer any other approach disc I probably would have pushed far but would have been a lot closer to the basket left this one did not want to move right to left at all though so we're left with a circle to look pretty happy with that Putt and we cash it moving on to Hole number two another slight long 307 foot hole which is not super long but when you're throwing a bail Bob or maybe Baobab some people say it's not good no that's gonna hang on yeah it's going down you're good I just can't throw an Anheuser today for the last two months honestly trying to give a little bit of Biz to some of these not quite that one but you'll see a lot of me trying to throw them in School number three here another just about 300 foot or 296 so basically trying to get our 200 feet pitch up 100 feet take a par happy to be safe in the middle of the Fairway there's not a lot of out of bounds in this course pitch it up to the point of dropping is kind of the name of the game with the Baobab here we're actually getting a separate camera angle shout out to one of my patrons Greg who actually lives in the area he came out and got a few shots that we're gonna include today throw them forehand here as you can see I do not turn it over at all leave myself about 30 feet very happy to somehow get that one over the line because throwing this thing is like a brick and we got a second angle shout out to Greg Arctic cat's disc golf if you want to check them out on YouTube he has a channel as well on number five here it's like 240 feet but uphill throw it into basically like a ravine which is kind of fine don't tell anybody but I was trying to give this one a run pretty decent height but a little bit to the right and luckily since it was on a hill it sits hole number six here 226 it says but I think it played closer like 260 to 280. maybe even a little bit more they're a pretty big anhyzer leave us with a pitch up again I mean this is going to kind of be the name of the game it's a lot of fun playing with this Baobab but I might never want to play with one of these things again after today all right so we keep having these little backups and my I was undergoing a pretty decent formation like figured something out yesterday and so I am gonna actually start filming myself on my phone as well just to look back at form every hole since we have a little bit of a backup behind the next card just so I can like watch because this is a good Anheuser training too because I suck at animes right now I can like fix this over the next like 30 something holes that'd be sweet not fix it but work on it so I am going to actually start recording a couple of these I will say it didn't last very long because we actually had to play through the last card I was pretty happy with this shot forms still not looking too good it's probably not the best time to be working on it during a round but as you can see here my off arm comes in and pushes my front shoulder forward not ideal want that to be down more one of the things that we're working on there's a lot of headwind I thought oh easy pitch up Leave myself about 25 feet I thought the headoon would lifted or keep it up did not took up bogey I was hoping for some bogey free rounds let's try to get the bounce back 208 feet left to right moving shot so we throw a pretty decent anhyzer oh oh yeah pretty happy with that shot and we got a second angle here shout out to Greg again Arctic Cats disc golf baby right up there just a nice easy drop in the next hole again 181 feet really not comfortable turning it over with the backhand so I decided to go really chip forehand put it even closer underneath the basket so really happy with those two shots moving on hole number ten 307 feet and this is Kaden now Kaden throws really freaking far he was my main competition today as we'll see after this round again a pretty bad nose up shot for me uh consistently though is a little frustrating to get to my lines he gain like 50 to 70 feet farther without Baobab which means that's like an extra 150 to 200 feet of normal disc power so pretty sweet to be able to be on a card with him today hole number 11 261 feet slightly downhill should have turned it over a little bit more honestly the bail bout by notice is less about a lot of power and more about perfecting the nose angle because of how blunt it is on the front it's just a brick and that also means that you have to put it pretty hard because it is very blunt through the air it's not going to cut through anything hold 12 here again throwing everything just that slight nose up gotta do a lot more field work on nose angle which we will be doing leaving myself with another outside the circle look about 35 feet those are feeling really good they look great out of your hand we were hoping to have four aces on this one I throw next I thought it was pretty good yes drop the wind kind of kept it up which is a little bit surprising glad I actually finally got a hold of one a little bit taking another birdie which we definitely needed missed the next shot because I forgot to press record I'm just not committing or get I'm not just not respecting The Baobab on these putts this is tough though you can hear the wind in the background it is gusting as a Tailwind trying to putt up the hill with The Baobab into a Tailwind there I had a little stop because the wind was actually pulling it out of my hand dropping for that bogey again hole 15 302 feet down a pretty decent Hill so probably plays closer to about 250 which is not quite in my Baobab range but it's not super far give this one a little bit better Rip but I did slip I feel like if I didn't slip I might have gotten it a little bit better but we're still just outside of the circle nothing too wild but I finally decide that I'm going to commit and aim for the band instead of a top chain and I hit where I was aiming there was a Tailwind I thought it would drop it didn't happen next up hole number 16 335 step up to the t-pad and just slip during my run-up had a decent stop didn't want to have anything crazy happen to hurt myself throw a decent shot but I'm not trying to reach this kind of wanted to give this one a bid and it had the right height just a little bit more to the right when kept it right I thought it finished a little bit more but when this don't have Glide they don't really move left to right as much as you'd expect our last hole here is hole number 17 it's another over 300 foot hole 314 just giving it a thumber actually throwing it upside down on the forehand line and actually gave it a little bit more Glide I probably should have experimented with that more but spoiler alert I never do that again and as you can see this wind right now is kind of wild blowing all this snow over everything and I mean you could just hear it but pretty cool shot that I saw just on the GoPro so I decided to throw it in here pitch up trying to make it and cute little dink of the pole easy drop in for the par all right kind of nuts uh I'm drying off my socks listening to FBO covers watching fpo coverage in first let's go Denver's weird what this is 45 minutes after we finish I'm gonna say I think I mean I'm not trying trying to win but I'm trying to actually keep track of scores because normally I don't but I'm gonna try to and like I want to let that learn to push me and so I'm gonna start tracking scores and tags matches in here and I've just heard of a lot of top players who do that I want to see if it's something that could benefit me instead of trying to stay out of the know we're gonna try to do well I am four back of the lead not ideal to not play great but let's see if we can make something happens not a lot of stakes in this tournament but it is a blast I hate this dead but I'm having fun so we're starting this one on hole number one Cadence got me by four strokes there was someone else who had me by three but they did not show up for the second round because a lot of people thought it was one round I honestly thought it was one round as well until the night before making a really good putt to get started unfortunately Katie makes his butt so we're still four back of him hole number two I think I'm actually going to be on this one but it just does not move right to left so not happy about it not sad about it I was trying to run this which is why I let it leak a little bit too far oh we got that comebacker no problem I'm feeling a little more confident now honestly I think not having the snow on the ground has helped me a little bit but stepping up to another 300 foot hole not even trying to make it but maybe given a little bit of run here oh great line I thought I had made that out of my hand but the wind just kind of kept it over and it's also a disc that I am really not comfortable with so who knows a little practice swing here I decided to go the backhand instead of the forehand like I did the first round because I left myself pretty short and the GoPro does not like that shot at all neither do I I'm actually about five feet further than that 30 foot putt that I made at the first round but as you saw I gave that one a lot of height and somehow made that bud so I'm really stoked on that again you're gonna see I threw it right back in the same spot try to give it another bid get in the one time today that the disc got lifted it was gonna go straight in the chains I think at least but it obviously didn't so hole number six here 226 feet at this point I am one stroke closer to Cadence so I'm only three back I honestly was trying to run that so don't tell anybody about that either I was a little afraid of it because there was that backdrop behind it still three back we both part that hole number seven all the way down the hill honestly one of my cleaner throws of the day I think didn't go super far but I kind of like to look at that really happy with this pitch up here they're all cheering for me a little bit so I give them the fake little hey thank you everybody who's Nobody's around for this bail bat tournament take another par hole eight once again I have the same exact shot where I parked it last time the wind takes it a little bit more and I'm a little bit more warm and amp so I actually Juiced it this I left that in because that's Kaden's putt that takes him to the birdie he was a little bit outside of me up on up the hill really trying to take my time on this because I want to not give him back a stroke I want to stay three back of him really trying to extend feel how I'm gonna putt it oh God and then I just juice it for no reason I just throw it right over the top of the casket all right back to four back not ideal he also Parks this hole same exact thing that he did the first round and I was way lazier than the first round did not turn it over nearly as much I honestly felt like I did the same thing and then watching these two back again I noticed that it was very different again really need this birdie I'm about 28 feet out going up the hill with the baby I felt like it was good but I mean it's the disc and I didn't respect the disc next hole is where I start to get not quite frustrated at the situation but I just start to realize what it is I'm kind of on an island about five ahead of the next person Caden is about five in front of me at this point and he has a lot more distance than I do so he can reach this hole I know that I can he throws first is about 25 to 30 feet out and so I try to throw a roller with The Baobab does it not work at all had a little bit of a shankopotamus with that upshot bye bye Bab a was this bit of a sink and can't connect on the part butt so that's gonna be another two strokes bringing me to six back at this point we're both on Islands so I have to talk to you guys about it even these silly little things are learning lessons so let's just have a good bounce back because the next one three four that's forgettable the one after that too far I think four after that too far so let's get the size four that's kind of the mindset I have 261 feet going downhill again I know I can't catch Kaden unless he just like throws it into the water 16 times and I know that no one's probably catching me oh go ahead and just brick that off the cage unfortunately really trying to still bounce back the wind really dropped my next drive on hole number 12 unfortunately but where did the wind drop come from finally committed to a putt aimed high in the chains and hit my spot back again to the hole that we want to Ace go oh I really thought that that was skipping in but skip just passed it had to be super close this is the drive that you weren't able to see and the reason Heights World on that is because Kaden's world and basically parked it I don't think that I should have twirled unfortunately though because that didn't really help anything but I mean I wasn't really getting any closer to this anyway so testing the wind a little bit didn't really get a great read but I'm just outside the circle trying to jump this one in to get the other birdie try to go three for the four that I thought I could get are you liked it we'll take the par and move on to the next this one was one that I thought was a little bit out of my range I actually get a pretty decent hold of this shot I'm closest to the pin off the drive which is pretty solid but it left me with basically the same part that I had the first round a little bit closer so I and I guess I just under committed something but out of my hand I thought it was perfect the wind actually dropped the putter this time though unlike the first round so we've got three holes left and at this point I'm kind of going this doesn't matter at all this isn't for anything this isn't for a rating I'm just gonna try to run everything so I kind of pitch up the drive try to run it missed the puck because I'm acting really lazy and then I see Kaden go ahead and drive this shot look at that power that is beautiful hits the hill and I'm like that's actually probably a good line if I can actually get over on it I might be able to get to the basket a little bit better but I just hit the hill as well and then we're basically in the same spot and so I'm gonna run everything mode try to run this liked it out of my hand but the wing kept it over and also I don't know the disc very well and now we're really Gusty here so I was three down on my round before that last bogey now I haven't been as you can hear I am waiting out this wind like how the putter came out of my hand but it was definitely a little bit left so don't deserve to have made that moving on hole 18. let's just try not to go turkey of bogeys to finish the rounds you know have a little bit of self-respect you're gonna see this drive honestly pretty decent I should have kept it a little more right because it's gonna go down the hill and it will help it to move a little bit right to left but what's funny here is I actually turned off the camera when I mean to turn it on and as you're seeing I'm basically walking with the camera and then I'm gonna turn it off again when I mean to turn it on so we don't see any of the last two butts but I do make the one that is for the par big shout out to Connor who is running this tournament as you're gonna hear Kaden say in a second it was his senior project it's such a blast thank you so much for having us out what do you have to say for yourself the biggest thing is supporting Connor it's like it's his senior project and big shout outs to Kaden and Connor and Greg for doing some filming Kaden for winning I mean well deserved very much outplayed me very much outpowered me so excited to continue working on that big shout out to Connor for this being his senior project it was such a blast first tournament that he's ever run I'd say massive success never want to touch a Baobab again that was that I took second probably by default I probably would have got there because that other guy might have beat me but I also might have been into a little bit more if I was fighting for third place because I had a decent score until I just like didn't care about anything anymore so excited to play more tags matches and I don't think there are any more of these type of tournaments for the next four weeks and then I'll actually be playing tournaments like five weeks from now so
