welcome back to videos Golf and to another episode of project 100 where we're actually in my new office I want to talk with you guys today though about my plan for the next two months because I only have two months left before my first tournaments of the Year actually not quite two months today is March 10th and I've actually signed up for the discmania 303 open which is actually at one of my home courses but I am right now on the waitlist right down here where am I 22 so we'll see if I'm actually able to get in but no matter what I'm only giving myself another two months of an off season all right let's go ahead and take a quick look as to what the rest of this off season could actually look like we're starting from here which is March 10th 2022 all the way through May 5th through 7th which should be that first tournament and there's a lot that's actually going to span throughout this whole entire time frame that we're going to talk about but I see really kind of three unique stages of this development one through March 24th one through April 10th and then the last one through the start of my season now the first of all this is going to be to stop listening and to start doing now the main reason for this is I feel like I've been taking in so much content and information for a long time I've had a lot of help on the channel a lot of people come on and I feel like now I have the knowledge base of what I think the perfect form should look like or at least a good enough for maybe not perfect and for me that's just having a solid brace transferring my weight into that front hip and focusing on creating space so I get into the power pocket and throw out at 10 o'clock and then follow through keeping a neutral head those are the main things I'm thinking I need to work on but I'm going to give myself these two weeks from April 10th today through March 24th to just not listen to anybody and just start to actually execute this is going to actually look like a lot of different styles of training and we'll talk a lot about like the specific things I'm going to be doing in a second I'm just breaking over the overall timeline but I have my basket down here where I'm going to be doing a lot of putting as well as my Nets and they're just kind of a place in my apartment to do that but it probably is mostly going to be at a field wrong way and then of course I was watching a video from Paul Eula Berry who actually has like a whole big long course thing that I actually bought on pre-sale because I want to review it for you guys to see if I think it's any good but I was watching one of his videos where he was talking about getting his Visionary net and that it was still no replacement for field work and that really made me rethink like I'm really wanting to rep out into a net but fieldwork does have its benefits so I'm going to try to actually get into a field a lot but we'll talk about that in a second let's get back to what the timeline looks like after I stop listening and actually just start executing because I felt a lot of good form things I just need to ingrain the habits but that's not where it ends because the next major step after I stopped listening and actually start doing is to start listening again but to very specific people because after this period I do think that I'll be able to see marked improvements we'll see what ends up happening but at this date March 24th I'm gonna actually start seeking out some more professional coaching and advice this is probably going to be with overthrow disc golf who I've done stuff with before as well as maybe Yani from DG spin doctor and there are some pros that have some relationships with but they're all on tour and I'm not going to bother them with that kind of stuff I'm giving myself pretty much one month to see how far I can start to throw this is honestly a little bit nerve-wracking for me um because I've given myself so much of an off season I haven't played anything sanctioned in about four months which is a pretty significant period of time and my form is definitely looking better than if you go and look back at those videos from the november-ish time period but there's so many things that I need to do even though we moved into this place about a week ago I've only shot one video since being here and I haven't been able to train a lot but soon I will be able to because every single day there's been something I've had to build like this and this and then this and this maybe don't sit like that and this and this and this and more than that but moving obviously is it's a lot it's a lot to move but now most things are here I'm able to settle into a little bit more of a rhythm so I'm giving myself this one month to focus on these things this also includes some training that we'll get to in a second and then lastly right here April 10th to May 5th through 7th figure out a bag so if you guys have been waiting for this build a Bag series and whatever to see whether or not I want to do the Destroyers I actually bought all the Tour series destroyers from this year as well as right here I have these old Graces also real quick just for fun to show you guys this is my little disc golf closet back here got a whole rack of discs I'm probably gonna sell a lot of these honestly and then review discs all of this Jazz but figuring out that bag I kind of want to pull the Joel Freeman where if you've watched his building Bag videos he's from basically 45 minutes to an hour north of where I am in like Fort Collins Colorado maybe that's like an hour and a half and he has one bag that he says he uses that elevation and at sea level I want that to be the same case for me you just maybe adjust which discs you're throwing where so uh very interested to figure out that bag because I'm gonna basically try to dial in a form over the course of this one month I felt closer yesterday than I ever have I went out playing with my wife and like things were flying while they're coming out clean the nose was down everything was looking good so I'm hoping I can continue that and this pretty much brings me to uh the rest of what this month is going to look like for me so here's the thing during those three different kind of I guess they're all pretty much two week seasons of the rest of my off season until I actually play an event I'm basically going to be trying to do the same thing and building the same habits for every single one the first is going to be something that's always been something that I've been better at in my disc golf game and that not always but my putting has historically been one of the better parts of my games it saved me some rounds I'm thinking specifically to one where I just threw the disc terribly at my last tournament I played and I still shot like 970 something because I was 100 inside the circle in like 40 Circle two so I'm gonna be doing four hours of putting every single week but since I am able to do this and my goal is to cash at a Pro Tour event let's not get that goal it's just a cash it's not necessarily to be on tour that'd be cool but my goal is to cash and I want to see how hard that is and what steps you have to take to get there but because of that and this is my life and I love making videos and I can integrate my training into that I should be able to train like a professional athlete so four hours of putting a week I think is kind of the minimum it's about a half an hour per day I'm especially going to try to practice that all out on the course because there is some win that's typically around right now around Denver especially elevation pots I'm gonna definitely practice there's lots of like baskets that are up and down and practice those a lot as well interested in potentially making a video on this if you guys want to but I'm honestly probably switching from straddle putting that's ugly to inline putting for most of my season still having the straddle as a tool and still practicing straddle but really trying to dial in the inline Puck because I feel like I can just push it a little bit farther with my normal stroke and put my hair back up because this is not cute but something that is going to limit actually some types of videos that we put out is that while I'm training I'm going to be trying to go to a field at least five days per week at least throwing five days per week that's the second big thing where probably most of it's going to be in a field just working out form always filming always working it out not trying to learn discs just trying to learn distance I thought that was gonna rhyme better it did not but getting out to the field will be helpful because I'll have to learn really good nose angle instead of just throwing into a net where I'm just looking at form I'll have to look at both and since it's something where I feel like I should have the time to do it since I don't have 20 to 30 hours in my week just in trying to live like I did in the van I should be able to get out to a field I'm just still trying to find some good ones that are relatively close to me but thrown out in a field basically every day just getting reps and solidifying a good form while also kind of tweaking it to make sure that it is as good as it could be but the big reason that just like I alluded to earlier talking about Yuli I really wanted to get into a field instead of just a net is the net can really help you iron out some mechanics but the field really helps you iron out nose angle it's hard to tell what the nose angle looks like into a net and I've been throwing very nose up for a very long time a lot of that I think does have to come with how I'm weight shifting in my hips we'll have a lot more content about all of this basically walking through my training hoping to do more daily Vlog style where we integrate all the training that I'm doing every day and all the things I'm taking out of it for some days during the week but because I'm trying to be out in a field a lot oh that's about to be ugly there's so much crap over there but because I'm doing all that I'm only going to go to a course two days per week Max maybe only one during that time there's going to be a couple different goals that I'm going to have with how I use that time one is just to have fun obviously but another one is obviously to film videos but during that time I'm going to be filming videos I also want to every single week play at least one League event that's not glow because honestly I kind of hate glow I'm gonna try to film glow and figure out how to do that because it's a little bit of a pain my camera does have really good low light so hopefully that will help but I'm gonna try to film some glow because the most popular course in America is here and there's like glow all the time even tonight I might actually go but one League because that really forces me to like have my pudding Beyond it I do feel some pressure on that because I know that because I have this channel like it wasn't necessarily my reputation I just wanted to share my journey trying to get good enough to catch it a Pro Tour event but I know that now I have a reputation but I'm not doing anything sanctioned until that may date the main reason is like if I'm only at a course two days per week and the rest of my throws throughout their other four or five days for the week are all at a field I'm really just ironing out form at that point I should be able to create better muscle memory doing that than if I was to just go to a course and try to work this out because that's what I have been doing by filming so many videos like basically every day instead of really batching the videos and then being able to just like have an office that I can come and edit a bunch at the same time so I'm really excited for those changes along with a couple other things that some of you guys have actually been asking about recently all right now we're basically just filming almost into the void here but a couple other major parts of the game are up shots I am wanting to make some upshot videos and upshot form is very different than driving form my forehand is actually feeling a lot better my elbow feels good even though I haven't been training as much as I want to but we'll get to that in a second uh just resting it enough has I've been throwing some forehands and it has not been hurting which is a really good sign even in the cold which is massive it's not something that I'm really going to focus on but I know it's something that I want to continue to work on is from 150 to 250 feet always putting it within that Bullseye of 11 feet forehand I kind of alluded to I'm not going to really work on until that April 10th time when I'm starting to learn my bag my elbow's feeling fine I'm going to talk a little bit more about training in a second and that should strengthen it up over the course of this next month but I don't want to really work on distance forehands because I'm not really working on a form I'm just dialing in backhand form so there's no need for me to really be throwing a lot of those right now because the only thing that I could do is potentially have the risk of injury at the moment for me right now that being said I will start to kind of rip into those and start doing a little bit more training on April 10 Earth and just because my off season ends May 5th or 7th if I'm not confident with where my form is at to try to go to a silver event by the end of the year I'm going to continue working on it throughout the year obviously working on tournament play but trying to tweak small little things but if my distance is around 450 to 500 feet backhand and around 375 to 425 forehand I'll be confident enough to just like let's just kind of grind out some tournaments continue working on putting continue working on accuracy figure out how to train for the woods here in Denver because it's not super easy but that brings me to the two main last things there's a lot to think about in this training and I am grateful that I'm in a position now where I should be able to actually execute it pretty decently so the first major thing is going to be the training that I'm undergoing I actually where's my journal but I started a training Journal because I find it's a little bit easier than my phone um this is what I initially had on it but we kind of took that off you know and so train hard throw far but mostly safe this is what it says now I did have a video that did it absolutely terribly about why you should lift when you're playing disc golf and there are actually a lot of misconceptions in the comments on that that I'm going to address real quick here but mostly when I actually film my lits for you guys so you guys know the workouts I'm doing right now uh it's Friday today yesterday I lifted today I'm gonna lift Saturday I'm gonna lift and these are the only three days I'm gonna lift this week I'm gonna take Sunday off and then I'm gonna start Monday through Friday lifting and then Saturday Sunday taking off that's what my coach recommends because the lists are not super intense at least I'm not I'm making sure that they're not right now the main thing that lifting is doing for me is mitigating injury at the moment because I did have that overuse thing in my elbow and if I train my elbow and the musculature around that in the tendon by having lifts that are more stressful on the muscle and the joints than when I go out and throw discs I'm going to be much less prone to injury as compared to if I didn't do that and just went out and continue to rip discs and was the only thing I did and I didn't have Aftercare for my arm or anything like that not necessarily getting big and a lot of people on in the comment section of that even though we never talked about getting big at all during that video we're like oh yeah you don't need to get big as you're even with slimming down but yeah Ezra is super fit right now I'm honestly not as fit as I want to be or need to be and in disc golf you don't need to be like big and bulky and lifting does not make you big and bulky eating a lot makes you big and bulky you can lift as much as bodybuilders do but if they're eating 8 000 calories and you're eating 3 000 calories then you're honestly probably gonna over train a little bit but lifting does not make you bulky it's your diet that does but lifting will make you fit your metabolism will be better you'll burn fat a little bit easier and it'll just make you train safer and so for me the biggest things are getting fit one two preventing injury but honestly the biggest for me is building a habit because I want to have the habit of Fitness here where I'm just going to the gym consistently my apartment complex actually has a pretty nice gym so that's really awesome but doing those five days of lifting I'm honestly trying not to lift heavy I'm not even trying to go to failure really I'm just trying to work in the movie movements into my normal patterns and then eventually through Progressive overload meaning that I make it heavier and heavier every time I do it or a little bit harder a little bit harder then I will continue to gain strength but especially while I'm working on my form I'm not trying to lift hard or heavy right now I'm trying to lift easy but still lift and just create that habit while I work on my form and I'm going to break down this list for you guys as I do them over the course the next month you can probably expect those five videos or so maybe six because there are some things that you need to do kind of ancillarially ancillarly that'll help but there's one last big thing that I need to talk with you guys about that's basically going to round out um how you guys can expect the channel to go and then what I'm expecting of myself so I'm gonna be completely honest I'm this might be completely my fault I'm not 100 sure I don't feel like I was consistently saying I'm trying to get on the pro tour or saying that right now I'm good enough to get on the pro tour um but that my goal was to cash at a Pro Tour event and share that journey of what you need to do to get there and if you can't cash in an event maybe I can get on the tour after that but the goal is to cash it in events honestly uh I've put very high expectations on myself because I I know that I can pick things up quickly and I feel like I have the capability to get there and so I've talked about wanting to play some events this year and saying caching would be great but really it's about the experience of playing events this year because these are high profile big events that's why I'm trying to play as many a tiers as I can the two events that I'm signed up for an hour eight years but I want to get that big tournament experience as well as just general tournament experience and that's why I'm playing all mpo this year because I want the experience even if I you even if I crapped the bed every single time that I got on play that'll be really good experience oh my gosh I'm not tearing up I just have not drank any water after I started filming this video that's a skill that you need to learn as well is playing tournaments not just playing good disc golf but that's why we need to talk a little bit about the mental side of the game I'm not going to get too much into this I'm not a you need to always be super positive guy you guys know that from watching my videos you can see how negative I can get on myself but my goal for here on out for the next two months is to be more positive to lower the expectations on myself which is kind of just re-putting them where I think I had placed them I think sometimes because I get worked up by what people say about me online because honestly this channel thank you so much blew up very fast I got 10 000 subscribers in six months we're at 16 000 and it's been like nine months of content which is very crazy especially in a small Niche like disc golf and that just means that I can go online and see people talking about me not to me and a lot of it is not super positive which just does take a toll on me sometimes so I try not to seek that out and look at it but I think sometimes those things get in my head and my expectations some times and maybe they did overextend to what some people thought I was saying with my goal by having very limited context and seeing someone who has this big kind of audacious goal of I am older I'm shorter and I want to cash an approach or event and listening to what people have to say about that got me into a not great mental headspace which was I think exacerbated by the living conditions of just living in a van trying to build this business and just like figure out life stuff all the time so that being said over the next couple months I'm going to try to obviously reframe a little bit expectations for myself and for you guys obviously the goal is still to cash it an event I'm gonna still show a lot of that training but there's a lot of General fun content that I wanted to shoot as well because ultimately I think the money frankly is in social media for the next long time I think if I'm way better at social media than I'm at disc golf which right now I think I am uh that's what'll get me paid which honestly is important for me to continue making these videos and so I want to stay positive not like overly positive where like it's just not me because that's just not me but not like getting ads down on myself and more laughing at myself because I'd much rather be self-deprecating in a comedic way even where I find it funny not finding it bad than like actually putting myself down significantly and I think I kind of get into that when I put two high expectations on myself so I wanted to apologize honestly a little bit for that um because I do think that I probably overstepped there a little bit um it was just a gradual thing like it just kind of happened over time but my goal is just to be the most entertaining creator that I can for you guys and to share my journey of trying to get good enough to catch an approach her event because obviously I'm not there now but I think that I am on the way and uh I think that statement will get people riled up but I need to not listen to what they have to say because I don't know they're not my target audience anyways and I don't care what you think about me I do more than I should But ultimately it doesn't matter so think about yourselves ultimately gotta remember this is just a game and I'm trying to get good at throwing literal pieces of plastic so I'm gonna check my stamps on them which you can still get on my website I did actually or reorder MVP no more glitches unfortunately but a lot of really cool stuff that should be coming within the next few weeks which you can wait on because I will be throwing discounts on the stuff that I have from uh the rest of my Innova and Trilogy stuff once the new MVP stuff gets here if you buy one of those you'll get like 20 off one of these guys I don't know that's what I'm thinking thank you guys for taking a little mini house tour I figured this is probably the better way to do it and listening to me ramble about what my training is going to be like for the next couple of months because I only have two months left until I play events and I cannot wait to play events and I cannot I'm so happy that I'm in a place right now where I feel like training is the right call and I'm able to do it if you want to check out my first video that I did since I got my apartment it's right down here it's with Finish Line discs a lot more dimmer content to come I cannot wait to be back to be shooting like normal I've worked like 25 hours or 30 hours this week and it's felt like nothing because I'm typically working like 70 or 80 on the channel so I don't think I'll need to ramp it up to that high again but I'm excited to get back to work because I love you guys and I love making content for you okay love you
