Not Quite a Midrange, Not Quite An Approach Disc: Latitude 64 Savior Review

welcome back to Bonanza disc golf and today I have a little bit of an I told you so with the disc that we're going to be reviewing as a part of Johnny putter reviews where you play 18 holes at the most popular course in America and try to get the hottest round of any of the putters that we've shot with this disc is the latitude 64 savior they call the numbers 4403 so potentially a little glidier than the Zone maybe just as glad he has the Zone up here at elevation but almost a year ago now I posted one of my very first videos that was speculating about a disc and I had said this latitude might be coming out with a Zone clone here pretty soon so in the latest video on live 264's YouTube Jonathan Johannes are playing the pro layout of the dgbt stop in DDO and asanas makes us throw right here it's a forehand with a stable looking disc it throws it flat and starts to finish definitely said what disc is that I don't know and then I'm pretty sure I'm breaking the rules that Jonathan is a thing don't speculate on internets please um stuff is going to disconnect just dude who's making an observation but if you look at the disc that he throws here's a good ish frame we can see it's a flat top disc here let me grab my zone laptop disc just like this one and if we look at the edge profile it looks pretty similar like it's got pretty thick and then it kind of has this like sloping down right here this Royal Line is their new line right now that's where most of their new discs are coming out Grand right here great durability great grip and great stiffness those are all things that you really want from that type of Premium thing and so that disc that he was throwing I would guess it'd probably hopefully be in a Royal plastic but that's pretty much all the non-jonathan approved speculation that I have for you today now in kind of a cool twist latitude 64 Jonathan over there actually commented on that video and told me that I was right that this was the Savior it was in the Royal Line we're gonna go play 18 holes with it and see if it should make your bag honestly might make mine just off the feel we're gonna get into the profile view and everything back in the booth after a couple holes but the profile is slightly deeper than a Zone and slightly slightly domeier let's get onto the course and see if we can beat and down because currently this is the leaderboard for Johnny putter reviews the only other disc on there is the jester discs love which shot 10 down in keeping with the one disc Round We Are Gonna putt with a savior which shouldn't be the end of the world some people putt with these type of discs especially when it gets a little windy pull one 153 little forehand right into the bucket to start out with oh it is a little glidier all right got a nice 60-footer to start out with stay up ah the big problem trying to Ace in these videos is that it means that I have gone over two so far in this series of getting a birdie on 150 foot hole maybe I should try to just park it next time or maybe skip it in or something but hold to 203 feet up into the left and we'll wait for these guys to finish putting out this slide Dome I think does give it a little extra Glide it might be a little wider than a Zone as well we'll compare it to a Zone after a couple more holes when we get to the office and do the profile view and I don't know if I'm gonna like how much extra Glide it has I feel like it might be encroaching on my kotoku slot but we'll definitely see also shout out another round for hooking up the disc there's a local shop here actually just up the road from Johnny so we'll be working together a little bit not a sponsor but they're hooking some discs up for me too short dang snucker in there all right long is on the track 273 maybe longest gonna have to give it some Flex all right pretty much 300 feet with the saviors not crazy no not quite not 290. all right 165 Straight Ahead into a headwind maybe a little skip bid this one's I don't know it's so tight to these trees you almost don't want to try to Ace it oh oh dang dang a little wide clipping that tree but I'm pretty happy with the shot I was always between the depths on the Razer cloth 3 In the Zone if this comes in more Plastics eventually or if latitude wants to throw me a bag and sponsor me who want to say no you know right oh that's it I thought that butt out the Annie a little bit better it did not this is my least favorite hole there's a crayfish down here it's alive too that's cool it's gotta be freezing I didn't breathe a towel all right from down here taking my meter this way and hopefully we can throw it in nah dang it two knows up a little double bogey action on them honestly the crazy thing is I think we could still beat 10 down uh unfortunately this is gonna get given away though which sucks because I like it well I can always get two Aces 222. that's not nice all right 237 feet straight ahead I'm thinking Flex forehand at it sounds nice I also don't know if it's like too finicky because of how gladly it is that's what we got to determine hmm I'm not throwing I've not been throwing a lot of forehands anyways and not a lot of Anheuser forehands but for that for that overstable approach slot I think I probably want something that'll start to fight out of that a little bit better than that did but I didn't expect the disc to be able to fight out of that much wobble and turn that way but I think it just said I'd want to bag in that slot would do that maybe we'll see that's disappointing I'm not mad about that part the ceiling was a little low if I can touch it it's a low ceiling all right 171 get it oh I don't like these wonders grounds all right I'm gonna have to come do this with this I actually bag to like have some self-respect you know with that I think it shows like it's very speed dependent like mostest on the stability but I think it's something that you can really get over on unlike like I had some Crystal Flex Zones that at sea level were way more stable than this or like a Toro or something like that or razor claw 3 which I'll say that they're going to be more stable but that means that I don't really know where this is maybe for like a more beginner player who wants that something super overstable but that they can still get some Glide out of it's not a bad disc I just don't know if it has a spot in my game right now oh my God it's also definitely not budding butter for me all right let's take a look at this guy and I have some other things to compare it to the Savior here though is definitely a little bit domier than other approach discs in its class you can't really tell too much here but if I compare it to a Zone the zone is just bored flat like even as compared to something like a Toro right here it does definitely feel slightly deeper than both the Toro and the Zone probably honestly see that slightly here but it's really hard to just be able to tell the one thing that I didn't notice that I had to double check on pdj but if as you can see it's slightly bigger around than the Toro as well as the zone I'm normally not the person to like go on to PDGA to look at the specs but I had to look this up because I thought I was going crazy thinking that this was actually bigger than the Toro in the zone turns out the zone is 21.1 inches in diameter the Toro is 21.2 the castoplasty yarn which I think is probably the closest in feel to the Savior probably makes sense they're both manufactured by companies that are owned by house of discs actually I think latitude does cast as manufacturing anyways but but the savior is 21.4 centimeters in diameter whereas the yarn is 21.3 so they just kind of keep getting bigger and I I slightly prefer it on a forehand to the Zone but on the back end I honestly like how much shallower the zone is from my little baby hands obviously and so I would say that this honestly could be classified as a 4.5 speed like a 4.5403 they probably just wanted to keep it 4403 to have it compete with these guys because I'm guessing the yarn doesn't sell as much as something like his owner or Toro but this definitely honestly for me encroaches on my kotoku slot which is 5502 because it's it's in the middle of a Zone in a kotoku not this ESP Zone but I would probably rather just have a Zone and a kotoku or Toro and a kotoku rather than this because it's kind of an in-between one more thing before we hop back into that last hole a lot of the giveaways here on the channel have just been going out in general and to a shame I can't believe myself these 40 Footers there we go finally all right 162. it's just right there just right for a spike but the wind is pushing this way so you kind of want to have it finish going right so it'll go straight so I might actually try the anhyze her forehand at it good wind read that's a good putt all right hole 12 150 there's a forehand line there's a backhand I kind of wanted to throw the Annie backhand let it flatten out towards the basket too much way too much it's not a bad shot though definitely not leaving you guys this far back in case it rolls into the creek definitely not oh God I really thought I committed too that's the embarrassing part all right we moved across the bridge again 13 through 18 to go the problem isn't that I don't really like this disc is that I don't love this disc because I really like it but I don't love it and I really wanted to love it 230 feet Straight Ahead there's a big forehand we could try to take or just take the any back end straight up there I think this is a great disc for that since I have to work on anheuser's anyways no that was so good well it wasn't obviously but it felt like it Yep this is that 45 foot range I'm liking right now I guess not like it I haven't really made any of these yet thanks still know something super interesting is I've realized just as I was like waiting for someone to play this hole that I've not thrown an approach type disc like this in a very long time like I haven't even really been bagging one like the pig a little bit but it's been like two or three months since I've like intentionally bagged it a pro style disc so I'm sure that's part of the reason why I'm not throwing it good but I'm also just not there on it good so hahaha oh super deep geez there we go finally got a circle too boy all right 204 feet that I had there I kind of want to go backhand just because it's way more open on that right side get there oh over top oh so jeez that is a very gliding approach disc that's so interesting because it gets over to that hyzer and then pushes on it for a while which could be very useful because I like it got over I was like oh crap it's going to dump for the basket and then it skyed it by like 10 feet so there's definitely some utility for it too bad I won't be able to explore it unless I Ace two of these last four holes shot I am putting today is in the dirt which makes sense wouldn't it be bad to try to practice putting with these guys especially for headwinds I know some people like pot with zones or Harps when it gets super windy but not savior today all right basket is through those trees to the right we're just gonna go actually there's kind of a forehand hyzer backhand how's that am I deep again always deep in this course all right I gotta be real when I Boogie that hole or when I threw a beam was like I'm definitely bogey didn't mean to double bogey I was like so sad that I was not gonna be able to play more with this disc and I still don't say that I'm not going to have it because I think it's a good disc for sure I just wish the Zone was slightly deeper to be just like this but on the back end I might prefer the zone I'm an enigma I don't even know what I like I'm not as sad now having played all these holes with this disc that I'll be giving it away as I was at the beginning it's good I just don't think it'd make my bag and I don't hold on to a lot of this that either don't make my bag or I don't review it is such a cool disc I want someone to get some use out of it so 243 feet Straight Ahead just gonna go for the big forehand line flat the hyzer whoa cheese hey maybe don't have your kid run into a fairway when people are throwing that could have been dangerous not good it's good distance actually honestly pretty good hyzer power but I have no putts okay drop oh geez I can't be thinking I might Boogie again right off the bat oh and that's how I do that oh my gosh oh this is a humbling round all right four down here is uh hopefully the worst score I ever take at this track I think I need to start actually trying to park these instead of Ace them but it just it would be so cool to get mace see told you it'd be cool no it's so cloudy right over the top I haven't thrown a Zone up here but that's gladier than my zones at sea level so it's got to be gladier than his own and I've seen some other reviews that say that but good putt oh come on it's so glad even I can't get it into the basket so we've reviewed some Zone clones on the channel before and this is a very interesting Zone clone because it is it's gladier than any Zone I've ever thrown I feel like it's even glidier than like my super beaten ESP Zone just straight out of the box that might have something to do with the plastic I think a lot of it has to do with the slight dome but if you think that zones are too overstable for you this might be a really good one to try the handful I think is very comparable if not slightly deeper and zones are notoriously shallow anyway so I kind of prefer the handful of this but I prefer the flight of his own which is unfortunate but I think if you're looking at this in that overstable zone slot or your overstable four speed it's not that I think it's a good approach disc not your over over stable approach disc which is a little unfortunate for me because I wanted it to be that but also good for me because I took three bogey strokes and we're only four down so this is the new leaderboard that was a dog if you want to check out my last Johnny putter reviews with the jester discs
