TOUR SERIES BATTLE | Can I Beat Him w/ His Own DISC?!?

today we're starting with something a little bit new called Tour series trials and we have our first Contender well I guess I'm the contender but today we're going to be playing with Joel Freeman hey but we're going to be seeing if we can beat Pro Tour players with their own Tour series disc cuz that'd be really embarrassing for sure I mean it's hey you never know it's not likely going to happen so if I end up winning I get to keep one of his Tour series discs but if I lose I'm going to have to buy one off of him so he gets some funding for the and give it away to you guys we're going to play nine holes at a course I've never played before but you said it's one of your favorites around this area right it's not every day that you find like an actual quality nine-hole course I feel like this course and there's also another course like kind of its brother if you will 5 minutes down the road and they're two of the best nine holers that I've ever seen the caveat is we're playing brand new holes today but brand new to me and brand new to you uh I guess that change was made in July is what I heard from some of the locals just now so it used to be very backhand friendly whereas now maybe it's more even we'll we'll find out today we're going to be playing with his most recent Tour series which we'll get to on the first hole so we'll have Joel tell us a little bit about these got a release late in the year but they're Halo Champion Gator 3 so overstable mid-ranges and he just told me there something specific about this ring of gators back in the day there was like a certain run of Gator that had that ring and people refer to it as the Ring of gators run and those are like the ones that everybody always looked for if you could find one of those you knew it was going to be flat you knew it was going to fly really well and so this is just kind of a little little reference looks like we're starting out kind of kind of long for a gator no doubt about it maybe throw a Potter's first warm up a bit whatever you can feel free I I'm I'm like you're ready to go I'm Disc Off strong to warm up I I don't know like also right now it is 33° and cloudy so Colorado you can get away with 33 if you got Sun out in the clouds I think we're going to die today I mean flip for it if it's heads I'll go first Fair tail gross I'm not a big handw warmer guy but this is a time when I I feel like I If all of our shots are going left today it's the disc but it's also us I think these are going to be beefy boys oh that was late well you gave it credit credit and GP grip lock it's going to be some sort of round today oh man it's kind of holding over in the headwind rip though great shot a look that is a look that was a good rip the angle that that came out of your hand is like the most Joel Freeman angle ever on maybe under the tree we'll have some warmth for us don't do it oh oh no I really like that shot too ped it I mean you hit it so direct that the line that it's on is still yeah wow there we go okay so here short be my saving grade oh dude get it up we got all the bad shots out of the way there so we should be good now wow I only got the shanks today wow oh oh boy I think you're good oh it's fine yeah I thought I'd put it straight in the water is it like hurting your arm a little bit it's not hurting my arm my fingers are just there's blood going through every part of them right now yeah all right I'm probably also just lining up exactly where I threw those instead of actually aiming where I want to aim what's the difference with the gator and the gator 3 then if you're saying that this is more like a gator than Gator 3 the main difference to me is that the original Gator mold is a little thinner left to right whereas the gator 3 you have like more to hold on to to not that it's deeper but it's wider that way that makes sense uh that's the main difference I think that makes it slightly flatter slightly more torque resistant just like a dream in my hand there we go nice we're not taking anything under a bogey today folks oh my gosh what a putt thank you all right new putts working now that's bad I need it to not be working four strokes in two holes plenty of time to make that up for sure this isn't good for me either like I need I need you all to know that the gator 3 works for me and for you I promise that the gator 3 is not the one not working right now this was the first green I ever puted on like the basket was right about here teed off from over there huge Hiser oh scary OB whatever underc committed to my shot left at 55 ft jump putt dead center dang first like birdie of my career career yeah so there this is like a very very sentimental feelings 420 jeez I mean I have Gators that I could maybe that yeah that I could like get on to the green but not this one the new ones these Halo ones are mean these are these are wind Fighters oh gosh that was overc committed dang OB that's crazy probably is over the sidewalk I don't think that's over the sidewalk oh really yeah if it is we're on it out let's try to get one good throw with this oh no yes that's fine no skip money that'll be close giving these Gators some credit cranking them over I was so worried I was going to hit that pole on accident these are beefy though I mean that thing fought out of it the whole way and like skipped back I'm sure I mean this was a good opportunity to see a nice full flight see what it could really do I wanted to like get a good one but next time if you throw it in everyone's going to go buy it on infinite disc right now oh not even I mean the line was great but just uh a little short well that had a little more intention behind it oh straight down there this is a nice little hole might actually be a forehand wide if you can trust the skip oh no that's fine heisers are boring you heard it here first dang it o that should that should put that should be fine I don't know I've seen you throw it in 400t holes in Vegas so oh for sure but that's not a brand new like beefy one that's like a beat in one that I like am familiar with and all right roll the pile on the excuses clip yep that's kid did you use all of your like putting health bar on that one putt on whole two I don't know something like that I hope not I hope I've got a little more left in the tank there we go a little shanky but that's all right don't get behind the tree oh distance control is great oh man I love you beforehand scoot up there that's F that's cool oh oh there it is it's got to be more than 10 ft I'll be good yeah nice oh you stole the box back are we going behind that tree there yep I think I think this is doable yeah um for for one of the two people 360 be perfect check up before that tree ah dang you squared up the tree you went through all the branches and hit the center of the trunk that's true yeah all right I do think I can reach this hole it's not an easy line with these discs no o that could do it just have the legs not the legs f a little short ah oh I thought I had it for 3/4 of the flight little more juice nice pot hey I got one of the tap-ins to go in this is probably a situation where I'd actually throw this disc anyway so this is perfect uh I'm guessing it's the 2705 270 as long as it'll get there oh she'll get there I think you just got there like 70 ft long for sure it got there for sure all right I'm going to try to throw to that tree instead of on the other side of that tree that's nice man that's so good that disc oo oh that was crazy close how did you not make contact I don't know that's sick what just happened that was that was beautiful rip it forehand that's impressive jeez oh no dang it it's getting lazy these things are nice we were just talking walking down the Fairway and like it's a disc that feels like yeah you can have in your bag for like 10 years and one of the reason for that is sometimes it has those little bubbles like the micro bubbles on the edges this they like got it to come out with absolutely none of that so it seems like it's going to be a really nice pretty disc for a long time that'll just kind of beat in and won't like beat in to a breaking point but stay really nice all right this is the 350 position it looks like you think the play is kind of like a stall shot or like a F shot over the right side yeah closest yeah closest we're going to get is is just going to be big old heer a little to nose up but not bad at all yeah not a bad effort though oh yep does that have the juice do you skip in oh no good shot solid one head one oh wow dang nice yep on the whole nine and then we're going to we're going to figure out some alternate pads for the back we might keep some of them the same cuz Joel said he want some Redemption on some holes make it a little more interesting it's already been relatively interesting layout honestly we play it as an island you think oh jeez uh sure cuz we got yeah we got the sidewalk I mean I guess you could bail out way way left but just like sidewalk short and Beyond yeah why not oh dude that thing's got some hookup what a shot finally I think I'm going to trying to put my like angle control sometimes is like in increments of 10 or 15° instead of like 5° where it needs to be so need to dial it back and remember how to not throw 15 Dees anheiser but like seven oh push oh makes the island never doubt never doubt never out crucial and he does it Joel do you think you want to just play with these or bring out your other Tour series for the back nine nice you if you're looking for a new overstable mid-range and you like something flat and like fills out your hand these have been flying pretty good today we had to pull out some Joel Freeman signature scarabs and use those as our Putters all right that sounds very fair I like it no let's do that which what plastic though uh what are they they're X blend unacceptable sorry so I've been putting with these end blend out packet as you guys know I haven't actually touched the X blend yet which is that just basically XT plastic I believe so yeah so we'll be putting with X blend scarabs which are a putter that I actually didn't throw in that initial fieldwork video I haven't even really thrown or puted with them much yet I did a little bit of practice cuz I actually brought them out but they're semi Beed very glidey feeling and probably a little straighter than these alpacas I'm excited to put with cuz I want to figure out if I want to put with an infinite Putter and if I do which ones more be up yellow or a brand new um not brand new but newer orange take which ones do are you more confident with I neither I I'll take these if you were more confident with one of them I would take those but otherwise I'll take this what cool artwork the Scarab always makes me think of Aladdin yeah talking about so that's you know it was like a slight play off of that but it's interesting compared to the alpacas they feel like lower in your hand cuz the shoulder is like very low like very rounded shoulder and but they like feel comfortable they do have this like micro bead on the bottom of them there so it'll be it'll be fun to play with these I'm glad he's not confident with them that makes me feel better okay we're going to end up starting a whole five because there's a group up there we're going to reverse this Mando so you got to play to the right of the light P oh that was a little too straight I think you threw it perfect oh yeah love it oh no oh no I just wanted to be by that tree if you aiming to the right they go straight to the right though so oh wow what an adjustment I remember to aim it straight that time and it went straight nice butt hey after what we just saw and after what we saw over there minute ago I mean this is like one that I you really want it I wanted to kind of make the adjustment but it's oh what big skip big skip oh that's so sad it's closer ah still not enough yeah oh all right same same forehand roller time I normally I don't feel like I would use this one for a forehand roller I I would be inclined to go like um this green one that I throw a lot oh my God just cuz a little more is that thing alive no it's just a goose head wo what don't usually try to like make this shape I usually what I love about it why I think it's like the best forand roller ever is cuz it loves to go straight straight straight yeah I think something Fier to get to the left most disc like to curl this doesn't like to curl it just likes to hold and then flop over yeah we got OB right this is this makes this much more interesting oh yeah well I got it over enough dang that's a really good line this not quite far enough all right I'm so worried I'm about to like throw this nose up and it's going straight to the right what was oh that was a bad bounce oh man bad bounce that was a little dirty need a little more air time before it hit the ground too far and bad oh I'm so in the tree dang it okay that was perfectly done do you have any like rating goals like you're are you 1037 right now something like that been Hing around thats or like stay there is that yeah of course there was a while where I was on a good trend of 10 points per year I went to 1010 to 1020 to 10:30 yeah turns out 1040 is a difficult uh thing to do so um no I mean of course I think is that something you actively think about or is it like if it happens it's awesome I see it more more as the result of something of a goal that I'm achieving not the goal itself that's a good way to uh yeah so I think like the 1040 number will come if I can achieve some of my other goals like what what types of like output things then yeah I don't know about anything like super specific but just like the putting change you know just I want to like um be more confident and effective in the wind and from long range with the putter you know just little things like that I don't know do you that's also part of like the mental game side that you're also working on this year you think that that's a part of it or is that less affecting of your game more just of your image you think oh I would love to say that it wasn't affecting my game there's no way it's not you know what I mean so it's hard quantify though for sure yeah no no it absolutely will benefit a lot of times I don't give myself credit for like how good my game really is and I think deep down I and I don't know everybody else knows that like if the mental was on point that I would be like that much bigger of a threat so um yeah the one other thing I was going to say is just like in the beginning of your disc golf Journey if you will each little like form change or like whatever is like a big leap and it's really fun and to like see that happen and and you can make big improvements once you get to a certain level like the changes only get so helpful like they're really minute little things and so you just kind of have to like it's like fig out which of the diminishing returns you want to actually go for or not yeah that makes sense that makes a lot of sense thanks for sharing any special rules on this hole your box film I was thinking like Manda left of this first big tree we could definitely do yep I like that shape oh you were thinking forehand I was I was thinking you would throw forehand I wasn't I was thinking I would have to throw backhand but I don't 360 low ceiling nope get Skippy fast oh you got the angle hold wow it's really good little short the head kep kept you short in oh my gosh little more inside let's go right in the middle of those two oh stay up oh no chance oh double no chance 100% today had to show you I I mean I appreciate that just getting humbled with a gator 3 today that's all it is Mando left of that little tree the early one Hazard Island too so if you're out you just Hazard oh I got it go go no that felt so good yeah and it felt like a good release too over stable guy oh yeah that's fine though all right we'll throw some scarabs same mandoos how about if you put both of them closer than your shot then you get to take a Scarab you get to take the farthest Scarab if you put both of them closer love it okay we do have a little head right to left oh it's kind of straight on you very straight yeah great shot well done so far I think we're two for two go in oo thought about it yeah those I thought it turned more it just really didn't want to there's a little right to left but not enough to not make it turn oh that one is get there not that I threw it great but that definitely had more turn that those are your little more beat in ones too I think you're saying so yeah heck yeah he did what he said I made a rule that worked for me let's go why are you over stable and I don't throw it flat needs to go in oh my gosh Joel I like it oh yeah good angle I finally like threw one I wanted to today that was a great shot let's go dude wow what a shot for this guy Bingo birdie machine honestly this disc go tried a little too hard die oh he's racking up The Strokes now nice birdie all right this is one where I wanted these last two I wanted some not going to be easy but no think it's I think it's there there for the taking no dang it I I did most things right but just uh that was close never quite yeah committed you you have a long stab at it all right for real this this is out of the cards right now by like a billion and a half Strokes so not bad no we'll take that no skips a come on ah didn't want to closer get there yeah that's great there we go nice commitment skip
