Number One Course in Virginia? | Feat. Paul McBeth

how's it going everyone we are headed to paul's house to meet up with him and then head out to uh what is according to udisc the number one course in virginia it's also in my opinion the number one course in virginia which is mayflower hills out in roanoke um should be a lot of fun uh zach actually has played he's played it once uh but it was when it was like i played it before it was officially open like before t signs uh i don't think t's were in yet when you played it either yeah before concrete t-pads so really i played this a long time ago and from what i remember it was fun um but again it was like four or five years ago uh so i'm excited to go out there and play excited to hang out paul we saw him a little bit the other day but not much obviously since he's left but this is a weird time to see him we usually don't see him now for a few months but it'll be cool to hang out um talk we'll ask him some questions for you guys just basically you know how his how his first few tournaments have went um you know is he playing the rest of the year or is he like taking that second half off for his ankle or is he playing now the whole year i mean no one really knows yet uh so we can ask him that um so yeah we will uh catch up with you guys again when we're at paul's all right we made it out here to mayflower hills and roanoke um thank you growing up yeah i know i get made fun up for it a lot raw nook roaming i don't know um i think we're gonna play the white tees the blue tees have like a carpet on them um on top of gravel check them out first yeah we can check them out um but yeah it's a beautiful park the number one rated course in virginia according to udisc and my opinion um don't know which one you want to take more serious there and uh yeah here we go all right so i lied to you we're playing the blue teas to blue baskets um yeah so should be fun i think par was 66 something like that something like that so uh yeah let's go ahead and um zach ut off first i'll be out first fine paul t up first you can't see the basket it's just blind so looks like i want to land over there by the retention pond i'll take it oh shoot every darn video and i curse too they gotta bleep that out they ask you how you are you just have to say that you're fine when you're not really fun you just can't get into it because they would never run gonna be skippy out there today should be okay though oh hit a tree hit the flew past it hey we're all going to take the same score just checking make sure it's not too slick get out of here it's a problem but it's just like kind of that way right yeah if you see that like shady area up there it's in that area almost i was worried for a second that was gonna be a little short oh he turns it to it with the regular crank not the ss that is the regular crank let's see if uh zach can't make it two for two on this you don't have vinyl for christmas or his birthday winter birthday august yeah all right i'm gonna give him some knee pads some key pads to play disc golf here i'm gonna come out here like catchers gear just slide in on your knees i was so scared that's not gonna be bad being up on that hill isn't horrible oh that's a terrible spot it's gonna go through the power lines and hope i don't hit him not through the power lines good job nice nice shot i just had to watch my hand just a little layup all right paul so obviously this has never happened to you before where you have a second off season yeah two and two in one year but uh what is your plan um you resting the ankle are you playing like what what's your overall plan well back home now in virginia um it's kind of nice actually because i didn't feel like i was really ready for the season because i was in the boot for a month before the season started so i felt like i was resting good and when i got out of the boot i was pretty sore um and luckily i think that's all it was i think we can walk over here to hunter i think uh healed probably a good amount to be honest because now i don't really have pain i do have a shot in there so that might be helping but um yeah looking forward to training getting in shape i feel like i got a little soft being in the boot but yeah getting ready training in the gym again feels nice and then uh just practicing you know i got i got time to develop the course hannah's building a garden right now and uh yeah just getting stuff done that we didn't get done in the winter so it's actually kind of oh nice not good that's not good at all a little short no it didn't but i also only threw that like 350. nice and short my goodness oh i mean that was left side but it was also like in the basket oh well this stick too much turn yep it went down yeah nice shot parked it are you're right yeah i'm good i you who didn't know zach used to take hip-hop dance lessons back in back in his prime classes back in his prime comment down below if that should be a video zach lead you through a hip hop dance class i would need like 10 bucks of you are you kidding me i didn't even dance at my own wedding no no i didn't i don't dance like you didn't even do like your dance like well we didn't yeah okay so you did gosh that was like what wait for hunter to say something like that i forgot two i think i don't know this is the key to a successful round sour patch i normally get watermelon but they came with strawberry so i'm giving it a try oh what yeah let me see i want one pretty good now if you birdie now if you birdie then you have to have one before every hole i'm not gonna bury i'm throwing a backpack i'm playing for a part here you know i would love to see more what the heck what was that look at how far my heel slid dude that was the slowest thing i ever saw i went to plant my heel to pick up my bag and it just went straight out i didn't stop recording dude it was so slow i'll take it how much for an eagle here 100 bucks throw it in right now yeah five bucks he says pay the man oh i soared it wow not gonna lie i thought it was gonna drop did you did your butt pucker a little bit me too oh geez all right paul we are now nine holes through the number one course in virginia and i would like to field your thoughts any changes you think would make the course better than it is what do you think first thing is the t-pads are not great they have three sets of t-pads but they've really only put the time and effort into one and it's not the not the long ones so we're gonna switch it up on the back nine front nine it's it's fun but i don't think it's as great as it advertised sorry bless you i don't think it's been as great as advertised but hunter keeps saying wait till the back he thinks it'll increase but um i don't think it's the best course in virginia yet okay i've played some ones that are more fun like like uh the one that comes to my mind is uh sunnyside um over in spotsylvania but then i've also heard of some other courses that might be better as well so we'll see how the back nine is hopefully turns around and maybe i'll give a rating at the end of the end of the day sounds good how far in there is it looks like just a spike hyzer you can go hyzer but you'll bring those uh those trees into play a little bit oh my goodness wow that's a stable buzz yeah was that the ss the page this is stalker get out of here oh wow i'll make this one though of course all right so the safe play on this hole is like throwing straight on like a hyzer right of that green tree just dumping out i'm gonna try to get a little aggressive for you guys um and go through this tight gap with something flippy and hopefully glide it down there um we'll see if that works i know where'd it go into the woods couldn't see the basket i think i can still feel it to be honest with you i didn't push far enough forward to make the turn okay so in the woods right but i should have like a forehand up jeez it's nowhere close to where i was trying to throw it it could be long yeah i am mild i pretty long find them and feel them crawling on you nice shot oh 100 thomas you look like a professional lining it up yeah that was about as far as it got oh what that gap was probably like just around that tree yeah but that's like the first forehand i've thrown all day yeah my right now my goal is to not hit this or that that's a good goal you throw stances yeah that'll be good he just turned your making on us he said you turned your making on which one was that one the blue that was just my safe one oh wow which one was that too i missed it but zach just fell again how'd you miss that part i said you said there's a lot of thorns in here i wasn't recording yet it's very steep okay got that one oh that's my best pet so far in years and years and years oof you kidding me man they're only 10 feet apart what's the freaking point why have two baskets out there 690 over 700. well one's like 60 feet 70 feet right but what's the shot difference 10 feet further there's no shot difference that way they can have two backs of every hole but why i don't know i didn't design the course why not just have the baskets be half and half half yellow half glue we're really hurting uh hunter's ego here can't do nothing but without complaining it's a safety issue you see that little slip that's going ob if that's not karma i don't know what is this yeah it is yeah the whole fence line on the i thought only that's out of bounds beyond fence i thought it was only the right side oh it's like a peninsula crap all the way around oh well i don't think that made it that far so that's the positive i'll throw one more real quick roll it well that was my safety plate if i felt like i was gonna slip really bad what was that avengers house nice see that one's out of bounds please no that one's too hot see you later crank ss i want to take that nuke out of my bag one day it's like the flippiest thing in my bag and the next day it's stable that's good it just went just short right you see where it is huh it's like 10 feet okay this is why he likes it like what's that's a fun shot i didn't hear you hands didn't go up or nothing look at there's a hole in one got it oh how did that move chance i don't even know if you can see that on here all right i feel like i need to defend my opinions on this course a little bit uh they both like it they just don't love it as much as i do it's okay i think part of it is it's the only course like this in the area i'll say so why would that make us not like it no i think that's why i like it oh oh oh oh um he's defending i'm trying i'm trying to defend my opinions that i still like this course i will say though if you've played in virginia i've never played lake marshall so when i say that it's my favorite course of virginia that one's not included that's the first thing i always hear but all right let's see the yellow basket here the blue is farther up to the left let me show the camera the blue is up over the hill there i believe actually yeah that's right what's your favorite ice cream that's an easy answer mr biscardi it is mint chocolate chip okay if you had one thing to get from the ice cream man what would it be isn't that like the same yes hasn't said wouldn't just be his favorite ice cream no you can't like get chocolate chip from the ice cream man i mean like there's spongebob you know you know what i'm saying um probably like a choco taco okay that's a good one there you go favorite dinner your favorite dinner meal go to dinner oh i think dinner and meal are the same thing but um i like pasta of some sort probably some kind of chicken and pasta whether it's like marinara or some kind of alfredo sauce or something but if i had to pick favorite pasta i'd like the spiral one okay and last question that's what it is sounds about right i call it corkscrew last question i hope scardy i don't know go to movie theater snack not popcorn not popcorn do hot dogs count sure if that's your snack i think movie theater hard i like the rolled hot dogs more than like it's a rolled hot dog you don't you know when they're on the roller oh i thought you meant like rolled in something no no i like the roller hot dogs but like a 7-eleven hot dog sure but if i had to like pick a candy i think i think oh it's hard to pass up reese's pieces at movie theater reese's pieces but i love like red vines that's probably like my licorice yeah that's probably my favorite from like baseball like twizzlers twizzlers are crap looks like they taste like they taste like plastic it's like the higher end twizzler you know like have you ever seen the carton like the big carton and it's like licorice or you can like pull it out no you know i really have it back to your regular scheduled program they're disappointed i really haven't heard of that greatest shot of hunter's life right there oh it could be parked it's not parked but that is one of the best shots it's hacked on his phone behind the camera just holding it i like the second one better i definitely preferred number two oh i guess i liked twizzlers more than red vines yeah what did you just what do you have to say about that turn the camera off oh well did not have a good angle of that one i thought you're gonna go turn over oh you're probably going this way yeah oh no okay yeah that was closer all right pin high now curl girl did everything with the curl part dude my shoes are so muddy look at that moonwalk can you move not i can't that's it i don't know if i can any shoes on this well then you can't do it close comment below was that a good moonwalker you nailed it have you seen the uh the thing where it's like did you see the moonwalking bear and it's just a bear it's going that's like a that's like 2005. can you uh can you do that again but show us like a meter in why can you can you do like like if you were to take a meter in could you moonwalk him either oh gosh like from that no like he's saying if you were to take if you were to take a meter could you do that just for fun that would be really funny actually can you show us one more time from barbed wire please two meters it should be there or one more one more but i mean this this two pads six feet clearly it's just on coverage uh it's like a putt through the yellow and i have the upshot you stuck down there hunter i got nothing zone pitch out all righty is the camera rolling it is i feel like this video is missing one thing what more cowbell now i could have used a little more cowbell highlights so here's a highlight for you you split that tree dead center he says he's going to split this tree we need a foundation like catchphrase i'll come up with it as after i make this putt this guy started running in that was embarrassing i mean did anyone actually think i was gonna make that i don't know i clocked him he went about 3.5 highlight so not not top ten top ten they're both on sports center right that's true oh that one look good look at that boys oh what someone was confident i thought it was yeah i was are you going through that gap yet right there somewhere over there yeah i'm aiming at that middle tree yeah because i know myself i know i won't hit if i aim at it okay nice that's not gonna be bad though i roll back the middle yeah goes back to the back yeah i thought i just saw the bottom oh my gosh you see that flooded hey you're doing what i just did cash all right here we go uh well we just finished the round um took a few hours first let's just start with hunter even though we know what he's gonna say we'll start with hunter and then we'll go me and then paul oh what we think of the course yeah okay i still love this course um i think it's great you're like defending it well because i know what's coming from y'all too uh i think it's the reason i think i like it so much is it's unlike stuff in this area um and it's like challenging and challenges your different shot selection to a point that a lot of courses in this area don't i think that's where i like it a lot uh i can see where it could be improved now that i've played it with people who uh had critiques other than um other than just like my mind but at the same time i still think it's one of the best courses in virginia um sunnyside i think is up there with it because of the redesign but other than that i mean i don't really think too many too many beat it in my opinion but um yeah that's my stance i'll give it okay i'm gonna do it out of five so i'll go i think ten is fair out of ten yeah okay so i'll go with uh man out of ten i'll go i'll go eight out of ten okay um i think that there could be improvements to make it like a championship more championship level course uh but at the same time i think it's a better course than a lot in the area so i'm gonna go with eight okay so it's your fault okay it's a picture you're ready to go to like six flags ride something extreme roller coasters you've heard nothing about these crazy roller coasters and you show up at disneyland oof that's kind of what it was like today like i was expect i was i was expecting like these crazy roller coasters with all these loops and this fast 70 mile per hour ride and i showed up at disneyland disneyland's great for movies and attractions and and nothing too thrilling but it's a fun place to be that's awesome because you got all the different themes you know you got the frozen themes you got all the other disney themes you know the star wars stuff so it's great visually but then there's no you know there's no fun rides so it's kind of what it felt like to me today it's like i was expecting the number one course in the area great property but the layout just didn't seem that challenging a lot of like 350 to 450 par fours where it's just like why not just make it a great par three and move the t-pad and have it like a par 60. and i think that's what that's why maple hill in massachusetts is so highly rated because they did that they made challenging part threes instead of you know kind of short par fours and that's why it's a par 60 and it's great rather than being a par 66 and kind of not being this fun so that's why i think in order to be that number one course in virginia needs to have a lot of changes what would you give out of 10 like uh five and a half six okay all right let's hear it let's hear zach so i agree with hunter in the sense that there's not a lot like this in the area so i can understand where people's scores come from because if you don't have anything like this in the area then obviously this is you know something that you'll like like for example i enjoy fallen creek because there's nothing else really in our area that's open everything else is usually wooded the course for me was difficult um but i just didn't think that the course was fun i don't know why like i'm not a course designer so i don't really have or i don't have all the experience but like something i think is fun was like eureka the lake course whatever you call it like eureka is that just the neighborhood yeah like that was fun but again i haven't i don't travel very often i don't get to play these kind of courses i just didn't think it was very fun um but like i like what hunter said too i like the sunny side course in spotsylvania's is probably my favorite course in virginia so far so we might have to go down that way to play those courses i've never been down there either um but out of ten six six okay i mean that's honestly better than i was expecting well if it was out of five it would have been like point five yeah yeah yeah that's i get that all right well i mean i don't know if you're in this area definitely come check it out because like i said unless you're gonna travel you're not gonna find much like it yeah and i think a big part of it was it was the first or not the first but this compared with like greenfield which is also in this area was like two of the first closer to championship level uh shots grandfield's been here for a while though yeah okay but they were like some of the first ones that i had played um so i think that's where my love for this course comes in yeah and like like don't get me wrong like it's better than anything we have in our area yeah yeah that's a point but it's better than anything we have in our area but number one course in virginia not from what i not from what i saw yeah it can be i think there's definitely potential for a lot of tweaks and it could be a great course but it wouldn't be what is it mark 60 something high 60s high 60s yeah i think i think realistically it's probably like a tough sixty yeah low low sixties so it would be a lot of improvements but it could be it could be good all right well obviously now we are headed back home um so thanks for watching this video don't really know if it was much of a vlog or anything like that almost like a course yeah kind of like a hybrid but like a quartz preview almost um but yeah so it's going to stay up above us because it's a number one course in virginia question mark there you go that's what's going to be the the what's it called probably gonna get some highlights of this beautiful area of virginia because we're gonna drive back right now that is valid yeah so one one thing that's not mentioned here is how beautiful the area is not just roanoke but everywhere here in the you know the blue mountain blue ridge blue ridge area yeah you know from lynchburg to where we are all the way here to roanoke the drive is incredible so
