All right, we're here Bedrock Creek in Kansas City. I'll be breaking down what I think about when I see a disc golf hole, especially here on the pro tour. So, I'm going to go over all the things that I'm thinking about whether it's out of bounds, maybe there's some wind, and specific landing zones that I'm trying to hit whenever I'm playing these holes. And it's going to change based off the conditions. So, we're going to play three holes here today and I'm going to tell you guys what I think about and what my disc selection will be like. All right, so here on hole one, about 600-ft par four, you can see the basket way in the distance there. But I have a couple of different options. I have some water short. I can try to drive the green. Um there's a back slope behind it, so it's going to fall away. Or there's that second landing zone right there short, about 500 ft, which I can throw to and I can chip up for my birdie. Or there's an even shorter left landing zone. I've played to all three before. It's always dependent on the conditions. If we show the flags right here, we have a little bit of a left-to-right tailwind. So, when I throw the disc on this angle right here, it's going to want to carry it further. If I have it on a hyzer angle, it's going to beat it down and not allow it to fade as far left and also it's going to lose distance. Okay, so with this scenario right now, I'm probably just going to go for the green and try to get the eagle look. And if not, I'm going to want to miss a little bit left of the basket because that's the more open area. Too far right's going to be OB in the water. So, here, I'm going to throw it, try to get it pretty close to the basket, and just my only goal here is clear the water. So, going long, not a problem. You have to know it on shots like this. So, okay, something crazy happened with the first shot, so we're throwing another one. Got a nice wind right now, so have to turn turn it here a little bit. And if anything, it's going to finish a little left of the basket, but that should be plenty far enough. And it was. That's actually circle's edge for eagle. So, but you see there, even if I did miss a little bit left, it's going to find that kind of short left pocket to where if I don't turn enough, it's going to be safe no matter what. The mistake here would be overturning it. So, I knew that based off the wind direction and was able to make the correct shot. And I'll show you guys what my other play would be. I'm going to throw a Cloudbreaker now. This one's a bit more overstable. Now, I'm going to try to hit that short landing zone right there on the left. This shot's going to be a lot less aggressive. It's going to start at a similar angle, but it's way more overstable. It's just going to fight back and that wind's going to help it drop down once it gets to hyzer. So, here we go. Start with a bit of a flex. It's still a far shot, but uh should be able to reach it. Start off flat and as it starts fading, it should start dropping a little bit. There we go. And tough to see, but landed right in the area I'm talking about, so we'll go up there and throw an approach. All right, so we're where the layup shot landed. It was kind of an aggressive layup, but it's going to leave me right here, which is where I want to land. You can also throw it a little bit further. And it drops off behind the basket. But that's a better mistake than just throwing it short OB here. So, anything short of the rocks is going to be out of bounds. So, something that I'm thinking about here is throwing it a bit higher than normal. That way I can at least get it there, but it's also going to stall a little bit more down. I'm also noting that I have a tailwind based off of the wind off the tee pad. So, I'm going to throw it high, stall it down, and try to land it maybe a bit more on the right side of the pin because there's a little more flat ground there. And it should land pretty soft. Right next to the basket. Didn't even push the short a little bit too much. I probably could have spun it a little bit more, but that's going to be fine and it'll be a tap-in birdie with not a ton of danger. All right, we made it to the drive. That was aggressive. I went about 50 long here and right where that dude's at, that is out of bounds in the water. It's only about 10-15 ft behind the basket. So, I need to be very aware of the consequences of running this putt. Now, I'm going to If I was here in a tournament, I'd probably give it what I would call a conservative bid. Now, it's a very committed run, but it's also going to land pretty close if I miss. So, it's going to be like an anhyzer that kind of stalls down to the flat. And it should stay pretty close even if I do airball the putt. Okay, I'm fine with that. Obviously didn't go in, but you saw it was going to stall down. I missed a little bit short of the basket, but it was going to stay pretty close. And that's also an easy birdie. If you're feeling a bit more aggressive, you can give it full run. Or if you just want that easy birdie, you earned it off the tee pad, so just get your easy birdie and move on. And that's how I would play this hole. All right, we're on hole two now. It's about 370 uphill par three. The OB's pretty tight around the left and the right sides. But what I'm going to note here is the wind. You can see on the flags on the basket, it's moving right to left. So, the second that that angle gets exposed, if I'm throwing a backhand hyzer, it's going to take it way left. And that's why I go with the forehand on this hole most of the time, especially if it's this wind because I can turn it over. It's going to push it a little bit left, but the second it gets back on hyzer, it's just going to drop it straight down and be a much more consistent shot. On a hole like this, the wind is very important for what I'm going to choose. Because we're throwing uphill, exposing that nose angle, no matter what you do at the end of the flight, it's going to have a pretty severe angle. So, for example, if this was wind coming this way, I'd probably be throwing a backhand flex shot that's going to move right and then finish back left. But the typical wind on this hole is going to be this kind of right-to-left action. So, I'm going to throw a forehand. Also, something that comes into my brain is this tight gap off the tee. I'm more comfortable hitting a gap forehand off the tee. So, it's kind of the perfect hole for me. Okay, I'm going to show you guys how I'm going to throw it. I'm going to aim pretty flat over that short pin and it's going to ride up to that long pin. Like I said, the OB is pinching around the basket, so anything short in line with the basket is just fine. Flexing. Might be hard to see. It's going to come back boom, right at the very end there. And if you guys could see, the second it got to hyzer, just dropped straight down and landed pretty close. I'll show one more option. Now, with the backhand shot, I'm going to throw something that's going to resist the wind. It's going to kind of go into the wind and land pretty flat. So, I'll be going PD and throw it right over the FPO pin, dead straight, and hopefully it finishes pretty straight as well. It's a much harder shot. And that is perfect. Almost made it in the FPO pin. That was hard to see. Once it cleared the FPO pin, just landed pretty much inside C1. So, we'll see what we got for putting. All right, we got just outside circle one here. So, a pretty good shot. I'd be pretty happy with it. Obviously, tournament time I should should have a little more juice, but elevated pin. So, one thing to note, once again, is the wind direction. If you airball an elevated pin, it's going to be exaggerated because it's going to have more time in the air. All right, you can see here I have a straight headwind putt. So, I'm going to try to keep it flat and straight that way it doesn't go too far past the basket. If I airball too far nose up, it's going to go way left. So, I'm going to keep this one pretty level. Boom, right in the heart of the basket. Didn't really move too far left or right. And if that missed, it would have kind of stalled back down and that's going to be a birdie. All right, this is where the backhand landed. A lot closer than the forehand. And uh something to note, the OB is not quite as tight on the left here. So, if you do mess up the backhand, should be fine. And with that left-to-right or the right-to-left wind on the forehand, it would drop it in time. Uh right here, this putt's close enough. You just want to make it, jam it right in the heart. Most of the time, the basket's going to do its job unless that happens. Okay, yeah. That's disc golf. Same spot, different result. Good sport. All right, well uh that's how I play hole two here at Bedrock. All right, last hole we're going to do today. We're about 270 uphill. You see these rocks just short that kind of create a barrier, so you have to get it high enough, but it's also low ceiling. So, something I think about here is really exaggerating my follow-through on this shot, making sure I have the right height. If I follow through too low, it's going to hit the rocks. If I get lazy with it and come up, it's probably going to hit the the ceiling. So, I'm making sure I'm driving through the shot. Uh this is another one where I like the forehand because it's going to be a little more nose up naturally with the forehand. And I'm going to hit the gap every time it feels like. So, this one, I'm pretty much throwing dead straight, trying to snap it, and uh it's not too important. You don't have to park this hole. You just got to get somewhere inside circle one or give yourself a putt and you'll be happy. There we go. Overturn it a little bit, but it's going to land right up there in C1. Was never at in danger at any point. Had the perfect height and skipped up to a putt. I'll show you guys a backhand option. All right, now the backhand option here, I like going a little bit faster speed. That way I can kind of throw it into the ground. Uh you might get a little bit of skip. Uh but this one is like don't get baited into trying to park it, once again. It's a little bit right of the gap from where I'm standing. So, I can throw it about 12 ft left, be just fine. It's going to open up my angle a little bit more. And uh should give myself a circle one putt. Oh, I accidentally pulled it, which is going to be a park job. It was left of the basket though, like I said. So, that was a good example of I didn't throw my best shot actually which where I was aiming. I was aiming a bit further left, but it worked out because I had the height and the angle right. And uh that's what's important. So, let's go up there, bang these birdies in, and that's how I played these holes. All right, you can see much more space here on the left side than there is the right side, so throwing the forehand kind of low to the ground is not bad at all. A little bit of a left to right headwind, so it should drop the putter just a little bit. All right, that's going to be a birdie from this one, and that's why I like the forehand. Hit the gap, know that I'm going to land somewhere up in here, and I can make a putt. All right, that's a birdie from the backhand PD. That's going to do it for today's video on how I break down and approach your holes, and what's going on in my mind taking in all the elements, the wind, the out of bounds, the slope, even the skip of the grass sometimes.
