welcome everybody to the 2018 Oklahoma open presented by discmania and end of the champion discs i am gabriel dow first time here on commentary and next to me we got gk pro's one and only Bobby Cox how's it going out there we got a great card for you today we got both Tillman Avery Jenkins Landon tonight Taylor Sears the Tulsa hometown hero and stephenie's let's watch some disco yeah first round we're playing Red Hawk more of an open long course hole one par-3 is 335 feet most of the holes on rent hog are pretty self-explanatory here you have the right side high school on the left side hyzer line you can go straight up the gut pretty much whatever you're comfortable with you can throw see how these guys do yeah it's good we have a hole like this for the first hole of the tournament so you can really throw whatever you're most comfortable with throwing and trying to get that birdie Stav turn the right first off we got Avery Jenkins looks like he's lining up the hyzer line looks oh wow looks like you pulled it a little bit but it's swinging that's inside circle maybe he says oh yeah maybe circles edge yeah we got Taylor Sears line up the hyzer line as well I just said that is by far the most popular line on this whole yeah I think I think all he's got to be going hyzer line he scares the basket a little bit and it's perfect and this tee pad is kind of angled left the basket so forth at Heiser the Heiser Brad you got to start like the far left side of the pad and really come across it no definitely late at night he's sitting pretty right there by the basket yeah see how far both start on the left side either line as well so he's crashing in oh yeah that's perfect absolutely perfect we got Stephen he hasn't been playing open for very long but he's been killing it this year he's made a lot of improvements yeah he was he was killing it he is very close to the basket as well here's Landon after that 15-20 feet yeah you're just laying it up to that slight grip block and that and that's a that's a really far putt for the first part of the tournament yeah just a bit short Avery just a bit short as well not an inch too short Oh super close Sears puts it just move it looks like we got a lot of nerves here on our card for the first round of the Oklahoma open not Steven though not Steve you know he's going right at these guys he's showing them why he's an open great putt and Bo's not missing the first hole little left side but he kept that this perfectly flat and it stayed in someone's trying to defend their title we got Taylor Tappan and after he went just right at the basket he'll take a par he'll be tapping in for a par all right hole two we have a 258 foot par three pretty much I like to throw the forehand skip shop and some people will throw the backhand pretty self-explanatory hole yeah that forehand line is a little bit sketchy there's a telephone pole you can see right there that you do have to miss it's perfect you know take that all day Stevens taking that forehand line now you usually take and just hope I missed that pole skipping right up and it's pretty easy to go long in this hole as well that disk gets flat at all it's usually going long and here's a rare forehand from Avery I feel like I've never seen him throw for him before but you wouldn't know that by just watching the house pretty it's pretty darn good right there little long we got Taylor yeah I was taking them back hand get up a little long as well we'll see if he can hit that come back that looks a little bit sawed-off but definitely saw it off bring it but yep about circles edge and this is really a musket for these guys that's a great putt by Taylor right oh right off the band a little high little high it's like every just needs to get his put down in just a little bit I'll say like the exact same pup I landed wasn't it see it boat cannot get me I think you can yes sir it's a great start to down after to us just how you wanted to and we had 53 players in the open division which is the largest turnout we've ever had here all the big names that came out to the Oklahoma open this year also huge shout out to Amy and Kent Cox at basket-case they have a great store at 21st in Memorial in Tulsa Oklahoma hands down one of the best disc golf stores I've ever been to hole three is 420 foot par 3 most pros I'd say would be throwing a slight turnover shot they'll just flex on them back over under the green you'll also see some rollers as well we'll see what these guys do yeah it's pretty hard to find though be the only area where it's a little sketch is right behind the basket right there but on the size it's pretty pretty wide up in fairway got some trees to dodge but that's about it lining up the roller and Belle's got a great roller game came up a little bit short but I think he's pretty confident with that putt we got Steven flex no yeah I mean that work just probably be pitching up from there yeah but easy three easy three for sure this isn't one like the must must get holes out here on a big turnover can you stay turned you stay turned he's attorney there it is oh wow all the way up there alright but short but that's that's not really sure for this whole that's that's pretty good Avery's you know he's known for throwing it pretty far to see if he can get all the way up there looks like a breeze going down the gut oh that looks so effortless wow that's not fair that is perfect yeah up the middle gap is so skinny and you also have to throw it extra hard because you have to keep it so low underneath those overhanging branches yeah he's gonna find the top of the tree there is it just me or do you hate seeing the flight of tie-dyed discs for to me it looks like it doesn't go as far looks like it's spinning slower I don't know spinning disk is a spinning disk to me yeah but you know you want to see your own disc go far and it doesn't look like it's going very far whatever I throw at least Steve my knees just laying up there mm just left of the basket good bid though and when both parting is on he is pretty much unstoppable so let's see if you can keep that pug on yeah cash Taylor steers great putt by Taylor Sears there lets him out to down he's got a very unique putt for sure yeah it's not one I would try to learn how to do but it works for him and that's all that matters Avery's I mean he's close to getting men a little low if you haven't checked out the lodge at Taylor ranch in Pawhuska there's two awesome private courses go down there beautiful beautiful property definitely check it out shut up - the Taylor's do a great job with the upkeep out there championship style - yeah some massive tournaments out there we got whole four here par four a little bit of a short par-4 but pretty similar to the last one you're gonna be seeing a lot of slight turnover shots if you're a big bomber a lot of rollers as well and this hole is definitely tubule I mean the Eagle is not out of the question for this all again we got OB and no bees actually the cables not the road just point that out Taylor sees mr. birdie himself that looks like it's moving the right way feint a little bit early but you know that's all right easy easy birdie I expect all these guys to birdie this hole Oh going roller looks like he's got a good angle on this that's that's moving I'd be turning over just a bit too soon no that's pretty much perfect there it is no never mind yeah it's about 25 feet out maybe even shorter though this might be the most evil bull hole in all of disco yes it's one that you can definitely get and he's just a little bit why he's gonna have a tricky putt /up shot over that tree we'll see what he does Jenkins with a little turnover let's see if we can get all the way there is he still crushing though he's done a fantastic job there it's gonna have a little bit of a long putt and I believe Landon is from Texas yes he made the drive up here he is throwing a roll that has hit the tree a little bit of bad luck there but he is gonna have an easy birdie as well yeah once again even like a bad shot you can you can easily recover the only way you're not gonna birdie but potentially is if you hit one of those super early trees but if you get past those it's just wide open layup just like that what's the weather like this morning oh it was absolutely perfect out there yeah a little chilly in the morning but it got to about 70 degrees during the day and it was it was perfect great day for disc golf Avery with a long putt here just a little left mm right such shame just right for the Eagle for Bo was ever to that was 40 yeah mm-hmm here's Avery with the comebacker he's gonna get this there you go here we go that puts Avery at one down both tapping in for his birdie puts him at three down good pub I Stephan Hervieux there and this year we actually added the another course on the ball golf course in this property it's called pecan Valley super long your normal ball golf course you know short fairways a lot of rollers that kind of thing very well designed though shout out to a region yeah a resentment for us absolutely alright hold five we have a par-3 285 foot double mando between the light poles most people I'd say it would be throwing the low forehand skip shot you also have the hyzer line as well very a simple hole I'd say yeah basically that we might see a couple runs here yeah either keep it super low or maybe go tomahawk or thumb over the top shout out Justin Roberson a great shot and that's that's the best way player that's the tree and he has skipped up perfectly yeah shouldn't be missing up up that's a perfect one a little wide left but I think you can make that putt Avery with the Paul Macbeth forms alleges there might have had a little luck might have been of just a little bit sawed off those limbs might have straightened it up a little bit well these guys are making this whole look a lot easier than what I do looks like we might be seeing a star frame you got one down there Stevens now at four down having a great start whoo squeaked it in Elma how that stayed in I hit that one chain on the right that right side of the chain perfect on the hyzer line well yeah I often say you know whenever you putt with extreme Heiser if you hit that right side it better go in yeah the advantage of toss in a Heiser played oh yeah right side the pros and cons but it's back out otherwise freaking out that was that wasn't that close and we ladies and gentlemen have a star frame hole six par three two hundred and three hundred and forty nine feet you've got a low forehand skip line and a backhand Heiser over the ob Road which I think most people would be taking I myself take it but this is yeah the short hole must get for sure there's also a mando left right up the tee box which can kind of get in your head at times like you should be able make that but I see I pull right there but it does stay in your head and it could mess you up over the road and that looks pretty perfect well sure but definitely makeable yeah really the front nine at Red Hawk is where you want to tax got a lot of must get birdies nor yeah if you can't come out of the front nine of Red Hawk at least five or six down then gonna be a little bit behind the field for sure yeah there's some massive holes on the back nine that are treacherous so you really want to go under par front nine just try to keep that going on the back oh wow hit the turning off a little bit cut it off early it'll be an easy three for him here's the first four hand on this hole turns it over a little bit you got a nice little skip run on it and I think he's just left of the basket yeah just a little wide left maybe with an easy up-and-down here he has some of the most effortless looking up shots sure does very smooth and bow with an uncharacteristic putt from inside the serpent doesn't happy with that good Popeye land and wow that is a fantastic part about him at two down starting to creep back into the competition there's a Steven here's Taylor for birdie yeah well done five down hot start eats feeling good right now for sure I believe this is Stevens three-putt yes we'll be staying up for down all right on the whole seven whole seven is a little 285 foot par three really all it's asking for is just a putter right down the gut so see how these guys do know mando is no-nonsense pretty self-explanatory shorty yeah the only thing that can make it pretty challenging is there are a lot of trees you gotta dodge there's a little gap where there's really nothing there but you gotta hit it perfect and put enough spin on the disc to not go too far yeah these guys shouldn't have much of a problem with this little gap here it's gonna park right up that looks a little high yeah history and that is really the only thing you can do wrong with this hole is throw it too high yeah I've started to use a fairway drivers because if I want to keep a low I want to make sure I get somewhat of a skip and that was perfect whenever I start using a mid-range it would you know I keep it too low and you're just digging to the ground go nowhere yeah skip a little long but I think he's got that foot you're just even for - oh he's feeling his putter isn't he oh yeah butter is hot right he's not just making he's he's pretty much going dead center every time and that was a little am side but stays in the three there he's definitely not happy about that three for sure no yeah this that this holes get a bull for sure for sure for sure six down that's pretty incredible honestly that is a great starter writer that's really good stuff antastic start looks like his putters heating up a little bit he's kind of getting back in the groove with a little tap-in pulse eight par three four hundred and thirty five foot pretty much everyone is gonna be throwing the hyzer over the road have a crash right into the trees right there where the basket is pretty self-explanatory a hole I actually saw one of our local pros Randy for Sanders shout out he were lining it hit the band right off the top it would have been a great really yeah cheese so yeah shout out ready was that there for that I feel like I've seen someone also hit like the cage you might have been there that's looking pretty salty right there I'll I take that all day and oftentimes there's the head went on this hole so you gotta make sure you choose the right this cannot flip anything over a Toby on the road I don't work right there if around two we are going to be playing Blackhawk which is a much more wooded more challenging course so yeah yeah you won't be seeing these wide-open Heiser's in round two yeah these two courses are almost polar opposites really which makes it great though oh yeah no yeah it's perfect and these courses are actually right next to the zoo shoutout Tulsa Zoo one of the best diseases in the nation looks like Avery sawed his off just a little bit there he's gonna be long wide or no long no he's just been freezing the way that's for sure though gonna be a tough putt waiting for the car to pass looks a high note oh he's he's in the circle I think squeaked through the tree there yes yes in circle very challenging putt got keep it low why basically throw not really flat for the row you Trump Taylor Sears got some hanging branches yeah not a lot of easy putts that is not an easy putt yeah that just never had a chance I have a saying for tight goodnight just a little wife of the bird yeah there's various and he's tied Taylor Sears at six down oh and a be with another uncharacteristic sprite hitting a band you're just gonna have to tap in for bogey shout out Greg bars to be an eagle McMahon for a coming up to Oklahoma and playing some courses here oh yeah they definitely did they helped us out with the numbers they brought some people out yeah created a lot of buzz and the disc golf community here in Tulsa and it's a really great thing for us oh yeah hole nine we have a par-3 367 foot if you're a bomber you can throw I've seen Kevin Jones throw a putter on this which is crazy stupid just ridiculous with a putter but it's annoying I think most people will be throwing a flat fairway driver a little bit to the right have a crash right into the green speaking of Kevin Jones I do got a note I play with him at the Alma greens I believe and I definitely saw him throw a justice about I don't know 420 that is ridiculous those things go nowhere for any other human being yeah I'll throw that on a roller line and it'll still go 206 though flex out yeah that was a great shot there knees looks like yeah that's gonna hit the tree probably yep he's turned that over you really got thought like the perfect flip up shot to straight if you get any highs or any leakage to the right you're not gonna be in circle he's lying with the same shot see if that fades back a little bit me perfect yeah it's gonna kind of leave to ride a little bit but a little bit but still get about Oh get back come back come back at least is not at least it's not deep in the woods cousin right Olivia he's got a putt cuz there's no there's no line for a putt when you go right in those woods I know that from experience Oh flash nip Steve likes the Heiser upshot I noticed when I was watching him brands forehand was all over Olivia I mean no matter where he's at he's great at this forehand or backhand well you know what to say you know the highest most predictable shot in the game easiest easiest to do absolutely and we just haven't seen every hit a long putt hopefully it's gonna come soon because he's known for doing that that's how he got a couple World Championships it's gone a little bit wide he had a little bit of an overhanging and now it's a perfect pup I bow puts him a seven down and I think he's feeling himself at this point that's a great start like I said hole there on the whole nine and finishing up the front nine if you're not sitting anywhere from five down to seven down you're a little disappointed in yourself so and Beau actually won this tournament last year shot an incredible score on Block III camera what was like a 47 or something I can't quite remember yeah it was good comeback or buy a baby there you can clean up his par here and every is gonna need to dominate those those long hauls in the back almost shorted it but you got it in there Stephen with the towel around his neck it must be sweat is he sweating I don't know I mean looks looked chilly out there maybe all that adrenaline pumping and I'm pretty warm and that that disc was on his verdict was definitely vertical all right they didn't go straight through the chains yeah I stayed in for you Taylor shot out yes all right
