hello everybody welcome back to the first round of the Duncan Lake hillclimber open 2019 this tournament is brought to you by in of a champion discs we've got a little four-man card going for you today Mitch McClelland sitting at 200 par code a half-filled at 4-under par beau Tillman at 1 and Tommy agent is at 1 as well these guys are putting up a decent round considering they can set the conditions and the difficulty of the course in general yeah yeah so yeah hopefully they keep this going yeah and Coda's going through a slight injury he's got a pretty pretty massive gash on his leg action he had to go get stitches for it so leading the pack with a leg injury he's got a little bit of a limp going on but he's a nice pour down so he's gonna something right yeah all right hole 12 this is a par 3 455 feet this one is kind of a hybrid between the up and downs of Duncan hillclimber it kind of carries uphill for about half the weight the fairway and then transitions to a little downhill shot so ideally you want to throw a fairway driver just or a mid really yeah dead straight and give yourself a look for three because that really is the ideal number to take on this hole both taking that flex shot I like that can i pushing that left side yep and that should be a good spot to get a par there coda turning this one over just a little bit too much but it doesn't look like you went too deep in there and he should have a little out from there yeah we've seen people throw tomahawks and thumpers from that right side if they're pinched off too bad but yeah I think God is in a decent spot nature's gonna be on that left side there hopefully he didn't get too far behind that tree yeah Tommy's definitely mid-range here just laying up and that's that's the ideal position to take your three so hard to get all the way down there on this hole it's I mean it's just a it takes the perfect shell absolutely perfect shell yeah there's just so much risk that you know if you go deep in there you're staring at four at best you know and Tommy just kind of yanked that right and he got a fortunate little roll away through the stuff and he's gonna be on the edge of it so hopefully he's not too pinched off there this looks like it's gonna be fading a little bit too much yeah he's bailed left with like a 30 footer yeah he might have to get on up here or something yeah yeah because going with a look Renee didn't get high enough yeah at least it a little bit too early and found that tree and he's not gonna be in a fun spot Oh telling it to sit down and it does yeah it's good shot I think that's one of the harder shots for most amateurs when you say that very finessed forehand with like a putter or mid-range oh yeah no it's not an easy shot yeah I mean really anything with a four with a mid-range err putter when you see a lot of a lot and at the forehand they'll try to force it overall try forcing over flex shots but that really raised that form Mitch trying to lasered in there through the headwind and just barely really change out there good run though yeah bowing pretty high on those chains yeah you go high on those chains they're not the greatest at catching yeah the good thing is like these players I mean they know what these baskets are like yeah they know that they have to hit the perfect spot so I was me can't really get mad - mad at that at least yeah Kota is tapping in the bogey here he's even taking his time on a 15-foot putt - it's just the winds ridiculous yeah I mean it doesn't look terrible on camera but it was bad out there if we had a flag on top of these baskets I think that'd give a good perspective on yeah just how windy this yeah and it looks like we're gonna have bogeys all around on this hole yes I mean you know you expect at least a couple because this hole is just so demanding but yeah all right hole thirteen this is a par three 220 feet really the most difficult aspect of this hole is gonna be the initial gap that you have to hit you want to try and have something ride as straight as possible because you can't really afford to go left or right on this hole because as you can see there's just trees everywhere if you end up right or left you really only have a big Heiser to take your three but this is this is a musket for these guys Kota go go go into the basic highs Oh flashing those chains here in the basket and he's gonna be left with a difficult putt because I think he went pretty deep into that tree and so he'll have to take a knee hopefully he has a little gap there oh my god and Cotto just barely sneaking the past that you're eating yeah and Kota is right on the edge of that tree should be able to straddle out and take his birdie there Mitch finding that little tree on that initial gap and he's gonna be on that left side most likely he'll be pitching up for three and Tommy taking a very similar skip there that that shot there second ago really showed the wind oh yeah trees it was like the trees were decide was yeah that was good as Tommy could do he'll be lost about 20 20 footer hit Mitch almost Duncan in it with a little forehand flex mrs. Tommy 4:3 great oh yeah super smooth stroke they're silky smooth that's a good par say this is beau from inside the tree you might have to lock this one up a little bit which is terrifying this one yeah absolutely terrifying that didn't really affect too much but it's little bit too high don't be tapping in for par this is coda for birdie I was fortunate to not go into the dead center of that tree right and he will take the lone bird picking up for that last hole yeah moving him to 4-under par I'm always good to follow a bogey with a birdie but what's happening par you'll stay even he is definitely needed to make some moves all right hole 14 this is a par 34 and 77 feet definitely I'd say top three hardest holes out here at Duncan it's it's definitely a par 4 obviously there's no get in there for a birdie no that's it's out of the question you really just wanted to throw a big Heiser or big forehand Heiser to get into this open field here and then you have a really difficult up shot superstitious feeling you can you can try and hit this gap or you can try to throw a another spike hyzer to just take the trees out of play we'll see what these guys do and we saw this a lot actually on this exact shot a lot of discs just kept just fading right and yeah there was a base one coming back yeah pretty brutal headwind on this hole so it's hard to get that angle right and Bo I think got a fortunate kick there and is gonna be in the clearing still not the easiest up shot but he'll be in a better spot than Kota oh my see and then it just takes off to the right yeah it's that headwind yeah and there's not a whole lot of good looks from on the right side yeah there's um if you get a little bit more right there's kind of a clear path to where you can take that spike hyzer line to the basket oh my god let go catch it admins can right back to the tee pad but you think a spot yeah he's in a decent spot and decent upshot from Tommy he's gonna be about just outside the circle underneath those trees yeah it's a good thing those trees are fairly close to the basket because they get eaten up a lot oh yeah yeah I see it coated has I mean you can't see the basket from over here yeah he's just going with an overhand I think he's happy just he's saying clip a tree at the top again yeah I'm pretty sure that ended up okay I and I was a very good tree yeah that was a spade and hardcore left yeah and he's gonna be left with about 25 feet but it looks like he's lining up the big hyzer and just trying to spike it in there and yeah he is right there next to the basket a really good second shot from Bo this is Tommy from just outside the circle Wow yeah I wonder that is an absolute perfect putt man oh I love watching this putt okay surprised I didn't jump because he is so good those jumpers maybe he's like right at circles as you couldn't quite tell maybe but maybe there was a headwind and you know you can kind of like it and float it yeah yeah yeah Eagle McMahon is one of the best to do that to you just a little bit of pop on it and just let the disc ride with the wind yeah it was a really good putt from Tommy good par safe from Bo from where he was at it's just forcing that and they're taking a double bogey definitely not what you want in this hole but I mean this hole is difficult yeah we didn't have you discs out here but I'm sure probably played one of the hardest ones yeah this hey guys I guarantee you this played the hardest hole in the course because there's I mean mostly just because this is the part it's part 307 powerful weren't exactly yeah you know hole 15 this is a part three 280 feet this is one of the ten holes that they put out here it's basically just a tunnel shot that you want to throw a mid-range or fairway driver driver just something that carries straight that's really the only play here the basket is actually here we're blind standing because they hadn't moved it before we got to the drone fly through he is such a goofball yeah they're spinning like a ballerina and coda go with the overhand that's a executed perfectly pretty good way to play this hole and I think those thumb errs are probably the easiest for accuracy yeah because they don't you don't really move you just gotta just gonna know what the disc does and just throw it like a baseball yeah and Bo almost got a little love tap from the tree straight into the bass you imagine Gracie but uh he's gonna have a tap-in birdie this is Tommy that needs to flip he's gonna be might might be in that Bush there and have a tricky putt but hopefully not mitch is gonna come up well short he's gonna have about a 50 60 footer and yeah yeah Mitch doesn't really like to overthink his his shots he gets up there he looks out he knows what he's gonna do before he gets up there I mean just that execute sit yeah that's what happens when you played the game for so long ago he's been on team in of us since 1988 1988 1988 yeah when you disc golf star I mean ah 70s 60s yeah somewhat though well steady Eddy designed the first disc golf course at Oak Grove in 1975 okay so sometime around then fish cleaning up his par though almost a ricochet ace you know tapping in the bird alright hole 16 this is a par 3 220 feet this lines are really tricky because it kind of snakes it goes straight and then carries right and it comes back left so you want to throw something it kind of makes the gap tighter yeah with with how the fairway is shaped so you want to throw maybe a fairway or a middle mid range just straight and it's so hard to get inside the circle in this hole I don't know if it's really possible without having some luck just like the way this this hole finishes it finishes left in the baskets kind of like more tight yeah so I don't even really see how it's possible yeah and see Khoda here's has hit that tree and he's gonna have a tricky putt but that's really like this goes you can do yeah yeah and though fun in that tree as well and he's gonna be left with about a 50-footer yeah just couldn't quite get the Fay at the end like Tommy's going driver trying to turn it over but that doable dolly oh look at that kick great kick yeah that's a good decent spot to be he should be able to salvage apart from their image catching the ninja branch there's a lot I'm out here yeah this this is actually like the cleanest this course will be because here in like two weeks or a month it's just gonna be overgrown and it's it's it's not fun great up shot there by Mitch really good up shot just piercing through the canopy of the trees yeah and tell me how to miss those couple trees right in front of them kind of forced to a flex shot and just a little bit too wide you know and bow just in a tricky spot hold off the tap in for par and that was looking great into the wind job at the end yeah I mean that was going dead-center chance in kota I mean he was like just inside the circle and it didn't have a putt it's so annoying because like you can get down there but you can't get part you can't be in a super confident spot for the for the birdie yeah it's a 220 foot hole but I'd definitely say it's a bonus birdie oh yeah yeah it's tough in this par that was a really good up shot that's where the experience comes in yeah I quit I feel like I don't really see like older players Stone that shot either look as big it's kind of like a new generation type type move or a type shot and you know he obviously learned how to throw it and they're perfect yeah hole 17 this is a par 3 323 feet um this one kind of carries downhill and then pops back up hill in the basket is up on this mound next to these rocks you'll see here in just a second to the left and yeah so the play really is a spike hyzer just throw it out there wide high on a good angle and have it spike as close to the basket as you can yeah that's just fun yeah as long as you're not down that in that little valley of trees mm-hmm and bows pulled his right and he's gonna have to most likely just pitch up for three because at the scary women's yeah I mean this there's hills surrounding that basket and you can take some really nasty always this looks really nice it has a distance oh yeah yeah still a little short he's gonna be about 6070 short there the wind definitely is not in favor of this hole Tommy can go with the more straight approach there and it works out just fine yeah he'll be able to pitch up and take a three yeah it's not the not the best release from Tommy there he knew it oh just picking up little high five for the pitch up from Mitch Mitchell hi mother do the same thing maybe he must he might give this a little run no mitch is crazy Oh saffron yeah and Koda with the alone birdie moving him to 6-under par yeah he's killing her right now yeah he is destroying the card three-time champ is showing off why he's a champ holding steady looks like we got everybody else tapping in for par okay hole 18 this is a par 3 271 feet that does carry slightly downhill there's also a bunch of guardian trees right in front of the basket so there is a little flex forehand play there is that gap on the right that is pretty tight you want to throw maybe a fairway driver that will flip up straight and ride that right side of the trees you don't want it to ride too straight because you can catch that pine tree on the right side so ideally you want it to Heiser before that it was like we got a pretty strong headwind on this hole whoo nice flip up there but a little bit too much from that win I think that one affected that quite a bit yeah dropped it pretty early and he's gonna be left with about 80 feet for his birdie beau putting up nice and high and catching that tree that right gap is just so hard to hit yeah well and then the the the forehand gap I mean you said earlier you really do have to throw the Flex shot for that you can't just go straight Heiser which kind of looks like you can but you can Tommy getting it and that way him bouncing up and down yeah or that gray is about 10 feet bump yes that actually ended up like right between my thighs I kind of had my legs spread like in like a squatting position for the shot and it literally everyone was asking me if it hit oh that's right that was yeah dude everyone was like that hit Gabe yeah and I was like I was I don't get nice I don't think it did yeah you just tell me for two after a really good Drive and yeah that'll move him to one big yeah and this is Mitch for par he will stay at one big and then we got kota and bow tapping in for their pars as well it's one of the more gettable holes out here even though there is some stuff in the way I'm sure they're not too pleased with that bar yeah speaking of gettable holes this is hole 19 par 3 357 feet this one kind of carries slightly uphill for about a hundred feet and in transitions downhill these guys will really just be throwing a hyzer in there it's not that crazy oh yeah and you want to talk about this basket oh yeah I forgot that yeah this is where the the weird baskets come in these are single link chains or cables yeah there's a cable basket yeah they're they're literally just single cables Tommy with a really nice shot there and as you can see you got a slight look at the basket but these I just got shot straight down I had no chance of getting out and it's actually somewhat decent shot he'll still have about 45 50 feet for his birdie and bow looks like he saw this one off big time yeah and that's gonna be a tricky spot mr. just layup for three there he has pin high though so that helps yeah Mitch looks like he might have done the similar thing but that's pretty good yeah ends up in a better spot than bow and these putts like those those cables have to get in your head whenever you're putting your like it is it gonna catch well in the baskets like a lot more narrow you know they're they're a little bit closer together so yeah you can't really play that high Pro side chain because on these baskets it's just gonna kick it straight right you know so it's really you really have to get dead center on these but I did hear some of the players say that they prefer this basket over some of the baskets out here which is I did which is saying something yeah exactly that won't call for Tommy nice birdie there yeah that'll work moves him to even which is a great score yeah considering the conditions hopefully you can get a couple more birdies and bows like it under can this one just stop for a second jams it in there though yeah he'll be taking a bogey to move him to even and Koda will stay at 6-under par Mitch will stay at one big yeah and here's a closer look at that's what asked it's just look at that ladies and gentlemen you got I love it i DB only only Duncan goers will know what that means well you gonna tell me because I don't know what that means you know what it means oh I didn't know it amazed on the whole twenty this is a par three 465 feet not a gettable part three so you're really playing for three here most of these guys will be throwing a big flag shot over the initial gap to get into this clearing and have a nice little upshot for their three but yeah like I said the tooth out of question here yeah and this is a think this is the last capable basket it is there's only two okay so yeah this is Tommy throw I'm not that big flex shot and that works out nicely he'll have a easy little Heiser up shot for history here's Kota throwing a so much shot through it a little bit more left in Tommy so I'm assuming that disc has a little bit more flip to it yeah that must hit tariqas that thing should be a lot farther mm-hmm is he going straight Heiser here or maybe he's just kind of expecting the wind to kind of take it right for him yeah he's gonna be in that tall grass to the right there and he'll have a little bit more lengthy of an upshot than he wanted yeah it's not bad he'll take it though putting a bunch of torque on that one Ellis is heyou and that one's Soren looks like that wind kind of pushed it right and he's gonna be about 50 feet in front of Mitch so not as long of an upshot but very doable no no we got the bottom of the disc exposed and carried for him and he actually ended up OB there he's there's an OB line behind the basket and that's really unfortunate he's gonna have to take a four at best at best yeah I mean even like the five foot happens or not guaranteed out here no that's uh that's that's about circles each pot right there not the greatest upshot from Kota there we go good upshot from both air you'll be able to save a three kotas got a long look for his three you can see all the campers in the background there so many people come out to this event I mean there's about a hundred people camping out here it's it's it's a cool event and this tournament fills up within an hour literally it's like gbo was like it is like ubl like gbo it fills up in like 20 minutes yeah it's just like a huge festival with a really an awesome barbecue truck oh yeah barbecue truck is is they're all three days and Oh get everyone just demolished their fish yeah really good I wish I remember the name so I can shout him out but they did a great job yeah encoded with an unfortunate Bovie there but it's still shooting a great round all right hold 21 this is a par 3 they're coming in 35 feet there is a big pine tree right in the middle of the tee shots so most of these guys will be throwing a big Heiser and there's a backdoor behind the basket that these guys are trying to pierce there is also a skinnier forehand gap for those that are more comfortable with the forehand which is preferred I'd say because you can throw it a little bit higher and have it spike into the basket yeah this is one of the most dangerous greens out here you really only have about 20 foot of flat ground until you know downhill all around the basket with trees all around as well yeah it's a very sketchy green here yeah and Tommy's gonna end up at the bottom of the hill there behind the tree so he'll have the tricky puffers - oh yeah info with that is incredible perfect shot yeah and that's really what you want you want to hit that front face of the hill that way you can kind of just check the brakes on it yeah yeah and Kota went a little bit too wide but he should have a look for his birdie and Mitch is gonna be oh yeah about 15 spot as well Tommy's had to resort this uh yeah this is this is the Lion quite a bit this Reza the most four hands I've ever seen Tommy throw yeah I mean he's so efficient with the backhand but I mean that's saying something if someone that's so oh wow that advanced them about four inches that is very unfortunate but yeah that really shows the teeth forcing someone who's so efficient with the backhand to throw the forehand yes it's just such a tough course yeah if you're not on your oh wow now he's back under a tree that's gonna be tricky yeah but this is a course where if you're not on your a-game you're not really having fun out here no yeah there's just so much that can go wrong - brutal I'm surprised that these scores are as good as they are right and Kota with a good bogey putt there but definitely not what he wanted from where he was at oh my god and Tommy almost just got dunked into there all I can do a smile after that yeah car safe though gonna get par safe from Mitch as well I love a confident Mitch the putts are now even if he's had like even if you have like three bad putts in a row that fourth one he's he's gonna act like he made all three yeah and here's Bo taking the alone birdie on the card yeah I mean Isaac Shaw super impressive birdie mm-hmm all right hole 22 the last hole of the round this is a par 3 260 feet you kind of have a skinny gap here initially with the pines on the right and left but really just throwing a mid-range or a fairway driver and you can't really afford to take a big skip because the waters right there to the left of the basket it's actually where this red flat or pink flag is once again they move the basket before we could get to the ground footage but it's pretty much just a basic Heiser that'll work yeah and that's a something you see quite often on this whole is shorting it because a lot of these players are scared of going long into the water like that that may get in the water I'm not I can't quite remember if that went into the water but we'll find out it's going with the standstill mm-hmm that's looking good that's what happy and that's the thing you have to what you have to either get in front or behind that tree and this looks a little sawed off as well yeah he's gonna be in that rough on the left side still better than being in the middle of that pine tree there could I just kind of thrown that too high he was trying to trust the win there and didn't give him what he wanted yeah but wants no part of that yeah here is Tommy man just so close not precise all of his misses up in really good misses mm-hmm he's gonna stay at 4-under par great round once again considering the conditions yeah looks like told me did go in the water he did and that'll move him to one big for the round and both making it under par yeah end of the round so yes so far we got Kota Hatfield leading the pack at 4-under par beau Tillman sitting at 1-under Tommy agent at 1:00 bake and then we got Alex a savage you'll be making his way back on the gk pro coverage for second round he's sitting that too big so that the will be moving to another course the campground course a little bit more wooded I feel like a lot more birdie opportunities for sure so we should see some hot rounds hopefully the wind dies down yeah if you guys enjoyed make sure you hit that subscribe button it really helps us out you can check us out on Instagram Twitter and Facebook and we'll see you guys for next round yep see you next round
