greetings disc-off fans we are back with some more coverage for you we are here in Lawton Oklahoma for the 2019 the prairie dog open my name is Gabriel down I'm here with Bobby Cox how's it going everyone this tournament is brought to you by Heiser Baum discs the Hilton Garden Inn Madigan's lawn care and landscaping and the Great Plains Technology Center Perkins Communications Lawton disc golf club and the Lawton in Fort Sill Convention and Visitors Bureau so got to give love to all of our sponsors and helping everybody put on this tournament so this first round we've got Micah Funderburk who has been on our coverage I believe he was at our Copperhead tournament so good to have him back I've also got Alex savage aka the future Rookie of the Year absolutely my opinion Thomas wind over who we've had as well and he's also the person who helps redesign this course he's kind of the head of that him along with Matt Barbara and then we also have the Texas armadillo member some teeth so whole one super simple initially off the tee you have a tree right in front of you that that you have to avoid as you can see we had Micah take the big spike hyzer line that is a popular line there is also a low skip on that left side as well and then you can throw a straight to very soft turning mid-range shot as well and just to mention we didn't get drone footage because we are in the Fort Sill fly zone here the Air Force Base is literally right around the corner from here so we couldn't get the drone up in the air so we had to resort to the zooms yeah Micah through that uh stiletto nice and high weather over stable disc and put it pretty close and now it's telling that destroyed like he usually does yep and he's putting it right next to the basket yeah we're gonna be see how it's going a tonic it's Thomas our course designer and that one was just a little bit too turned over out of his hand and he finds that tree on the left he's gonna have a long putt for his - it was definitely one you want to get to start off with and kind of surprisingly in some game with the back injury it's definitely there but the four hands it seems a bit safer that he's done with like a keeper and got that slight bit of flatness at the peak of the fight and I'm sure he wanted a little bit more turnover out of that side he's still in position for the two great bid from Thomas Emerson for the two starting off right oh yeah super clean putt it was a little bit of a tester too so it's always nice to get a little 25 footer out of the way yeah that's like a nightmare distance for like the first hole return mail yeah but if you make it that confident absolutely it just builds that foundations was rested around and alex is actually a newly sponsored in of a player - when we filmed Alex he was a nun sponsored player but he now has a sponsor locked in and he's chasing that Rookie of the Year yeah he grabbed that cash for the first time and I mean he was chasing the am world that decided to take the cash and I don't blame you all ended up in top three and open field too often he got sick of turning down the cash well in who blames them a nose like a massive turnout I've been Nolan pro-am - so there's a lot of cash involved yeah yeah definitely don't want to be denying that no Thomas tapping in the par and we are on - hole - this is a par 4 it is 578 feet it's pretty open off the tee plus these guys are really just gonna try and throw a distance shot up to either right before the sidewalk or right after it and then from there you have a super easy up shot and birdies a musket on this one we got Micah throwing that ballista getting it out there yeah he's right before that sidewalk he'll have a easy little 150 to 200 foot up shot yeah it's hard going much farther than that honestly once you like the board or something it's Alex it has really been crushing lately he gets past the sidewalk and he's gonna have a jump cut dude his his backhand has improved so much like it's always been accurate and like solid but he's gained like I don't know exactly but probably like around like 50 to 100 feet extra distance yeah he's he's crushing them we got Emerson he's going for the green here with this roller yeah this is looking really nice yeah pull out that synchro and yeah that's really unfortunate there just barely catching the trunk but still he's gonna be in position for the birdie it's really hard to not be in the position for a birdie on this one really pretty open yeah not a whole lot o B nope Thomas come up a little bit short but I mean like we said it's still pretty pretty easy from there this is looking like a nice shot should be right under the pin just a little bit short but be able to make three from there yeah I wasn't expecting this course to be like this long yeah you know you like you drive up into the park and you look around you're like okay cool another like must get birdie course must get pretty Park course you know and you're just then you get out there and you're like oh yeah there's some bomber holes out here and there's some dangerous - with a lot of like tricky lines with the trees you know and some creeks involved so yeah it's a really really technical and fun course yeah really like the course design from Thomasson mat there's Alex with the new Ricky Wysocki Pig that's is because that's like it's go-to for hand up shot this yeah yeah I mean they're great and Emerson two for two two for two putt and go with those key stones so far Thomas for the birdie I'll move him under par now it's going to for two as well and I believe we got Micah doing the same thing good start from our card here and speaking of bomber holes we are here at the first one hole 3 it is a par-5 832 feet the entire fairway plays as an island you have a path on the left and a path on the right that you want to avoid ideally you want to be a little bit more on the right side to middle of the fairway that left side as you can see there's a line of trees that come into play but as long as you play this one safe and don't go Abbey you're most likely gonna get the birdie here yes I mean we step on the Box it seems like it's all about how far you're gonna be able to throw it but you really gotta be super technical and you're trying to land this thing in bounds honestly and this is a common play here just going for a big spike hyzer try and land in bounds kind of cut off a little bit more distance because it this fairway is kind of turning right yeah initially so you can kind of cut that off and give yourself a shorter up shot Alex flicking that destroyer really nicely getting some good turn getting good d you're immersed in with the ballista he has crushed that out there this looks like a perfect shot yeah that's why that's right what he wanted just like a little bit of flip up get a little bit of extra distance still get that fail make sure he's in bounce yeah that's a great position he's right there by that line of trees which is pretty ideal for his style of play because he likes to play that flip up to straight distance shots a tap-in and I think we might see an eagle look from him Thomas looking a destroyer not bad yes quite a bit short but he's safe that's the important we got Thomas was looking like a good rip and he's gonna be dead center fairway I have an easy up shot for his birdie you know I know those tournaments called a prairie-dog open but for some reason I just didn't wrap my head around the fact that we'd see so many freakin great haha they're like right on the fairway - yeah this this specific fairway yeah is like I would like to watch you like in underground or like a blueprint of their underground tunnels because they are literally everywhere right it's crazy Alex on his second shot oh no that is very uncharacteristic to see he's turned that over in that doesn't look like it's coming back yeah that's unfortunate there that's a rare mistake from him - yeah he hardly ever turns his four hands over Emerson he's hoping to get this one close he's definitely an angle Eagle range yeah he's going defender here flip that up nicely and he's gonna be about circles edge for his eagle yeah that's what happens when you throw over you know 450 constantly yeah here's Alex after the OB stroke and that's a tough shot got to get through those trees that line of trees there that's gonna be little bit short but you'll have a look I'm sure he's wanted to go on the outside of that tree instead of the inside and he's gonna have a long putt yeah what if his par whenever you go for like a max distance forehand shot it's so easy to just turn that wrist like the last second which causes that turn over yeah I think that's what happened with them yeah Thomas with a really nice up shot yeah he's gonna have a drop in birdie like I said you stay safe I mean he was the shortest of the bunch and yep it's parked for a birdie Mike it kind of got stuck behind that tree a little bit but he's still up there yeah yeah something I've noticed about Micah is he really he likes to throw those super sharp up shots like he'll take a putter or mid-range and just put it on a super sharp angle and he's good at get any close like that yeah never seen enough for the Eagle come on I wanted that to go in so bad just a little bit right no no same thing like she's thinking banging this comebacker oh yeah that's an unfortunate bogey from Micah this is Emerson for birdie still right yep and he's gonna be taking apart even though it seems like a double just from three potting you know yeah you don't see Emerson but he put that option no that's wild he did tell me that this was his second round he's played since ledgestone so yeah in his first round here no practice rounds yeah yep playing this blind and shaking off some rust maybe yep like I said Thomas with the drop in birdie all right hold for this is a par three or we are moving to a little shorty here this hole does play as an island as you can see there's a little dirt path and you do have to make it past that dirt path and then there is a path behind the basket as well that you have to avoid most of these guys are gonna be throwing a flick with a overstable fairway driver and most likely have a birdie look Thomas going with that just destroyer again he's about circles edge yeah it's going to be on that right side I mean this is one where you want to be like within ten I can see we got some prairie dogs playing right there in front of tee box Henderson looking really nice whoo and flashes just in front of the basket yeah I first like as I was there I thought the Emerson was waiting for the prairie dogs as if there was like they're like in danger of getting hit by dead like everything that it would be I could work shank of all time I think he was just enjoying the moment right Michael with a nice shot comes up a little bit short but makeable putt from there yeah Alex nice and low grass path was just a little bit too grabby there and he's gonna have a long putt for his to he likes to jump up with the pig you know just a little bit more stability he likes to put a little bit more Anheuser on it yep you've got Thomas for - yeah I just head up it's much wobble I believe didn't quite get there yeah just a little bit too low this is gonna be Micah for his - oh yeah that was think that stayed inbounds yeah I did okay that was one of those putts were like whenever you don't have the confidence you're just trying to like reverse think about it so we're use rush it and use you know he's kind of like Skyrim stuff like a big germ pot yeah but obviously I can go yeah obviously bad bird making us come back here so yeah which are like equally as far yeah we'll stay at one under par and Alex taking a par staying at one under as well we got Thomas tapping out the par and he will stay at two Thomas is one of the nicest guys you'll me on the course for sure yeah he's super nice hole five this is a par four it is seven hundred and five feet really the only danger here is gonna be these trees that you see in the fairway on the left and then the initial trees to the left and to the right right off the tee pad really you're just trying to bite off as much distance as you can there was something with a slight hyzer let it flip up maybe get a little bit of turn and land in the middle of the fairway to set yourself up for a good second shot yeah there is an OB line on that left side so I'd be careful with that going with like like a high turnover shot like Emerson foon right here yeah this is a dangerous risk reward play but he has executed that perfectly yeah even with the ballistic Pro there that's really kind of to go to this for a lot of trilogy sponsored players yeah it's their distance oh yeah absolutely usually the best approach almost snowing out a nice shot getting a little bit of turn and a good amount of distance and he set himself up pretty nicely for a second shot my god not liking it oh yeah yeah too low and a little bit too too much turn on that disk go but that turn might have helped him from going OB - so it seems like I was trying to like Tara's disc before he throws every time yeah he's trying to break it in yeah and I'm not sure if he was trying the Emerson line there or if he was trying to bring it inside but he has found the OB and yeah it's playing for three from here and this is a long up shot so he's just trying to put it close no it's getting good amount of fade again a ha ha Vince stays inbounds Wow yeah that would have been awful yeah Micah trying to throw a flex forehand which is a very interesting choice from where he was at but he is actually cut rolled out of bounds yeah I'm starting to think he might not have had the room for the backhand miser yeah because sometimes were like it looks like it's enough room but whenever you're actually up at the disc isn't it's a little bit different yeah and that is like the biggest mistake whenever people throw those big turnovers just putting how much angle on and just kind of going right to the ground unfortunately whenever that happens it's usually a rollaway yeah and Thomas with a decent second shot there he's gonna be just inside circle - it looks like never seen going with his enforcer just trying to hide it all the way there that's pretty well done he's gonna still have some work from there but we've seen Emerson make a lot of those putts so if he's got that putter warmed up by now and um I could go be right here he did go be eating his for Ian controlled OB and that's so unfortunate he is playing for for but that is a great upshot it'll be topping out for his bogey we got savage with this pig probably the most comfortable disc in his bag for him my tab selector it with it's kind of like Emerson with this justice yeah that's exactly what I was just about to say there's Thomas for his birdie not quite enough on it yeah he's just missing short right now yeah he's online though he's putting scared right now right do you know anyone else that puss with these key stones the Emerson's button one I think I've never seen anyone caught with them except for him yeah I can't think of anybody honestly yeah comment down below if you know anybody else in the floor that plots with Keystone's Alex with a good bode save definitely not what he wanted on this whole there's gonna be Mike up for his bogey as well I'll move him down to even him Alex kind of match and scored right now and here is Emerson for his par Wow Wow right through the chains on that left side yeah this golf can be harsh it's like yeah speeding up while you're down music Thomas taking the lone par everyone else taking the boat that's very shocking yeah very shocking hole six this is a par 3 it is 411 feet it is quite downhill so these guys I think will be throwing a fairway driver to even mid range because it is downhill you really just want to throw something with a slight hyzer have it flip up and ride straight down to the basket you really just want to crash a little bit before the basket and slide up yeah this is all my favorite holes out here because it you really need the flip up on the on the backhand shot if you know all Heiser there's no way you're getting no way up there mm-hmm just like that right there and he's gonna be well short should have an open putt though we've got Emerson go and explore really good dis choice from shot slightly like understable but still pretty predictable at the end and that's exactly what you want that was beautiful he got that perfect flip up road straight and he's right underneath the basket I'm I could going destroyer here let's see if we can get a turn on it oh wow it's a flip on that very flippy destroyer or defender I'm sorry defender yeah okay basically the same thing yeah you got Alex go with that forehand this is looking like a nice shot if they can get through that tree yeah Oh deep yeah I'm Tony alex has some crazy power with the foot with the forehand he does it for all you guys out there that are kind of confused with why are all visitest look the exact same he throws all pink all-pink every des is pink he's a breast cancer supporter absolutely see if he can knock this burden just a little bit too low my kid just a little bit right side yeah and you saw him kind of messing with his grip right before he put it that you wondering if that had me something to do with it yeah that's unfortunate to see he's gonna stay it even and Emerson checking out those chains cuz a last toy he didn't didn't like him very much yeah got a double check make sure they're not twisted up but I think that's something I never do which I probably should do exactly I never even like check for that it's like we got everyone else tapping in it for par Emerson taking the loan bird here yeah kind of surprising 3-under it is somewhat technical yep hole 7 this is a part 3 it is 324 feet as you can see the path right here plays out of bounds so you do have to stay on this right side most of these guys will be throwing a forehand on this web side over the path and I give them self a look for the - yeah and it's easy to go deep on the forehand shot just because you're really trying to make sure you're over that over that Sidewalk OB yeah and we're not you know I'm sure getting a skip every time like it just depends on the fairway - so you got to be cautious there mm-hmm Emerson was that his gatekeeper it's actually a judge I was a judge go with the putter flipping it over and this part too has really nice shot it's very nice line kiddo that's over okay you see and there's just like a super Skippy spot over there yep and he is gonna be outside the circle probably about 35 40 feet from the left side there or the right side we got Micah throwing that stiletto really beefy disc Oh got a little love tap off of that little misdirection there a redirection and you should have a birdie from there there's Alex oh and this is looking way too low oh dude no you know where to see skips like that well no one thought that was in a skip well like on the card wha Minos headed straight towards the hills I know like usually you get a counter skip the other direction yeah but it just happened to be the one time he got the direction or they got the skip in the right direction Oh Thomas with a beautiful putt well fist-bump at the end I love it he's happy about that one that's moving him to 3-under par this is Alex Savage from circles edge maybe just outside the circle whoo oh yeah back-to-back and he is silky smooth with those jumpers yeah is it's moving him back under par yeah this guy's gonna be on tour before we know it oh yeah absolutely if you guys haven't watched any of our past videos with Alex and them this guy hasn't been only playing in for about two years yeah and kind of know he's about to be a thousand rated oh I mean like the last like two months he's gonna add well over yeah yeah actually didn't check his ratings today during the update yeah they did automated I need to check that well they've I guarantee you they went up yeah oh yeah absolutely whole eight this is a par three this is a very tricky hole there is OB all around this basket in the screen there's the path on the right side then you have kind of a basketball court on the left side along with other concrete that you have to avoid so most these guys are gonna be throwing a forehand like you see Emerson throwing here just try and hit this gap on the left and put it somewhere near the basket it's really hard to get it all the way up to the basket for a tap-in because of the angle but you really just want to stay clean here oh and also there is Amanda on the right side as well so you do have to stay on this left side oh I think Thomas barely made Amanda but he's gonna find that would be anyways yep and there is a drop zone here so he will be playing from that drop zone and micah and not happy about it who was fortunate to skip and hit his side of the concrete instead of sliding up onto it right hit the trash can yeah that was tracking he was he was gonna be right there next to the basket oh yeah that can and here's the drop set on that left side here pretty easy shot in your honor sir yep and just a little bit short but should be able to make the putt there's Michael with that super sharp edge shot I got how you said that earlier just straight spike hyzer up shot but he gets him close that's really a good way to throw him to if you're good at them because they don't roll as much Alex trying to give it a run not quite enough and this is almost a bonus birdie yeah there's never said miss on that right side again still husband hasn't quite found the putter she thought he did and at the very beginning and yeah just kind of lost it yeah where many saves par gonna stay at 4-under par and no I didn't put it there Alex it's got the course designer on his part ask him exactly I think I think it was talking to him Yeah right all right hole 9 last hole of this front 9 this is a par 4 531 feet and this is a very tricky hole it's an amazing hole dude it is I love it you have an island fairway in the middle and then there is a cart path right before this Creek that is before the basket that is basically a dead zone so all that is OB so you really just want to avoid all these trees and try to get into the fairway as long as you're out in the open in the middle of the fairway you were gonna have a clean up shot but from there the up shots still not that easy because you have so many limbs and branches in a way along with the OB right before the basket so it's really tricky and Micah took a horrible role there and he's gonna be stuck behind so many trees yeah well he's there's drops on your yeah there's a drop zone for this one as well as you can see there is the double mando off the tee as well no he's in same thing but it looks like alex is Jim bounds gonna be inbounds so you won't be losing that stroke Thomas he's basement on from the drop zone yep pretty much yeah this is found a tricky distance also I I think he'd be running it if he had a little higher the ceiling yeah cuz those branches are kind of it like in his way together and it's just such an awkward angle so you can't really do anything but way up there this is Micah he's going for gold here from the drop zone turn to throw a big towering Heiser over the top and it looks like he's gonna be in the tree there like I said some bounds right yep no two meter rule either Thomas is trying to hit this left side gap but it looks like he is gonna end up about pin-high right he's probably gonna have about 60 feet left though this is Emerson don't have a big house well yeah that's Stiletto he really likes that for just like straight Heiser shots yep this crashes right there he's gonna be about circles edge maybe just outside the circle Alex though in a hyzer there is a little window on that left side right there he hit it perfectly Yeah right there that's a really nice shot just off the cage Formica yep Thomas with a tricky putt Oh just off the cage not quite Katrina Island if you guys watched ledgestone yeah two putts like that yeah in a row well the rounds around Alex with a nice par from where he was at you're really not complaining about a four on this hole at all no there's so much danger yeah there's a confident looking putt yeah he would be taken apart as well yeah and a lot of missed opportunities is front nine from these guys so definitely some possibilities of way better shooting on this back yeah there's a lot more scoring opportunity on the back nine as well the front nine just kind of tests you and then going into the back nine you just kind of make up for your losses on the front nine yeah but that's gonna conclude the front nine of the 2019 prairie dog open so far we got Emerson Keith leading the pack Thomas is two back from him at 200 par we got Alex average at one and then we got Micah sitting at even so some decent golf from these guys but I think we'll see a lot better scoring here on this back nine yeah absolutely yeah if you guys enjoy make sure you hit that like and subscribe you can check us out on Instagram Twitter and Facebook and we'll see you guys for the back nine
