Copperhead Canyon | RD1, F9, MPO | Bell, Spencer, Agent, Maudlin

hello everybody we are here once again with some winter disc golf coverage for your enjoyment my name is Gabriel Dao and I'm here with Bobby Cox how's it going this tournament is copperhead Canyon out at West Side YMCA in Tulsa Oklahoma awesome little wooded course it's got a lot of good elevation change and should be really good round we got a matt bell a couple three locals actually Tim Spencer Tommy agent and Andrew maudlin who was on our last card or last time a lot of Brown eels you know film with us so good to be filming him again getting straight into it this is a whole one par three 235-foot really the only danger is hitting one of these first trees and then you also have a huge drop-off right behind the basket other than that there's nothing too crazy about it you really want to get the birdie on this yeah the green on this hole really kind of slants down to the right the whole way a lot of leaves got control that speed but pretty much to make that initial gap and you're good to go mm-hmm Danny we have Matt Bell it was really cold this day so anyway that's why he's looking like a ninja with the with the okay you have heard she got in the Olga he's got like the snow the snow gear yeah he does and Matt Bell was known for one of the best putters in the world yeah he's he won the world's pudding I'm not sure which year here was that yeah on the way here but he definitely wanted yeah it was good shot there yep okay we have tell me agent Tommy with the mohawk beanie one of the local guys here in town he runs the minis at Riverside Park went a lot of those yeah last year didn't make it to a lot this year because I was working but always always a good time out there yeah he's also sponsored by a basket-case disc golf a local store here in Tulsa and go check it out here and there yeah yeah definitely shout out to Amy and King Cox yeah my bell just switched to GGA we actually just fill in the video about that yeah little in the bag slash practice round so really quick stuff going on and you kind of had a little bit of an obstructed putt there and one thing to note is these baskets are pretty old so hitting death centers very important yeah you don't want to have to rely on any type of you know campsite catch or something yeah they're uh they're definitely old-fashioned Tim Spencer not gonna par there and this actually Tim's first professional tournament here yep first time on 2002 for some film yeah he's got a lot of things going for me yeah it's got the fighter of it tapping in for par looks like we got two birdies and two parts on the hole to weave this is a part three it's 280 foot it's a little bit downhill there is a road all the way down the right side I don't believe they play that OB because I remember stuck around seeing a bunch of people play from the right side of the road but that's kind of weird to me but pretty like Sobeys pretty much you want to throw it to the right side and have it Heiser in maybe you get a little road skip and maybe a chance for the ACE I don't know but uh yeah nothing too crazy yeah Matt bells taking a hyzer router over the road ooh just a little bit pine that's great Don that little bit hi yeah it's squeaking through yeah that's looking good a little skip and he's right there 10 with a little shank there just kind of turned over and this is looking good from Andrew if they can get under oh yeah oh sure yeah didn't quite put enough on it here's Tim for his approach dot yeah we're no work and this property here is like so unique don't you think it's almost like a like Travis Pastrana's backyard just like a massive playground yeah it's it's very hitting to kind of in the middle of town very hidden yeah I had no it literally it's right off the highway yeah I've been playing disc golf here probably five six years and I just like six months ago realized this course existed yeah yeah they hold like summer camps and stuff here for kids so it's really an awesome place you know that bill knocking in the bird moving it to down yep good start to the ground Tommy as well yeah and this is definitely a birdie or Die kind of course lots lots of birdies yeah really got show off your accuracy on this one mm-hmm there are some pretty tight lines though too so they're not necessarily the easiest birdies and just wait till 17 yeah that thing is a monster all right hole three this is a par-3 225 feet this is a really cool little hole you kind of start up on this hill behind the walking path and you're shooting straight over the water onto this little island here and yeah it's pretty hilly as well on the green yeah overstable midrange over still putters probably the way to go something to land softly mm-hmm that's looking pretty good a little short you know just a little short it's probably 30 short definitely is a wrench Tommy with a fortunate knock down the house else no way left that's looking good Tippin will flex on this maybe give them more distance go away to the basket yeah a little bit short as long as you're on this little island here you're fun and this is actually a very scary run nice hot good putt and oftentimes if you're missing that putt at all it's got a great chance of rolling down to the water oh yeah see you all the time and that just just right I think that's that down if you guys watch Tartans coverage at a feo tu you know that andrew struggled quite a bit with the putting leave in just a little bit short hopefully can scare at this right now it's carried over so far but hoping to make an adjustments in yeah we have told me for the par one of the best putters in Tulsa Oh hands down everyone would agree with that comes out of his hands so smooth yeah he he puts in a lot of reps absolutely sure you can tell yeah all right hole for par three this is another fun little hole where you're shooting over water this is a little pond and it's only 250 feet but the angle is a little bit weird you kind of want to throw a an ante shot with a mid range you could go for hand as well you really just want to avoid these bushes to the left in front of the basket and hit the gap but yeah yeah this is one of those holes where you step up on the tee not really sure what the throw forehand backhand but I usually take the forehand yeah I do as well sure it's a very tight gap initially so I just try to get down there somewhere I like I like like facing my target right a tight gap yeah I'm just not quite that accurate yet with my backhand but I'm at throwing a pretty nice shot there ended up just a little bit right but he's pin-high in that was a big time mistake but I fought through really well and it staying balanced you know so very fortunate there get over get over no nope oh not water that's not water and that shows you how cold it was lady it was pretty cold it was it was below freezing there's Andrew his third shot good upshot tapping at for a four-top just gonna throw a little for ya Oh probably through this he was like make sure gets us on camera so many for hands but it's pretty good to me yeah it was looking like I was gonna end up a little bit more left kind of got fortunate hey some bikers oh man he's bumping yeah there's my some awesome trails on this property as well so you see a lot of bikers coming through yep very close to Turkey mountain yeah which is prime pretty much the only prime mountain biking spot in the Tulsa area and enjoy it's a really unfortunate bogey well this is one of the few holes you see bugs out here yeah especially if you hit tree early yeah kids it's very easy Matt Bell and Tommy are doing some work here when I was just kind of pouring everything out but yeah man tell me tying out a whole five par 3 this is a super easy little uphill 180 foot shot it's basically just an upshot shoot to the basket so you can tap in for two you really don't want to take anything more than the two honestly yeah it's right there it's definitely quite a bit more uphill than it looks so if you haven't played this hole before I can see you having some trouble on it but for the most part it's pretty standard and that was just a straight up put a block aim at finding that little left tree he's gonna be left with a long putt this is looking really good from Tommy oh yeah yeah and this basket is his one of the older baskets on older looking baskets except maybe at someone was walking by and was like steady yet himself put in that basket ha ha ha that's fun she is pretty believable ok else it's pretty old Wow great pop I'm a good putt just grab that top right single link almost yes caught it a little bit right and you're trying to pick up his first birdie of the day there does here we go that's gonna put him back in even Tommy tonight Matt bell yep this is Tommy's first time beyond GG bro yeah she's kinda striving for out Gideon yeah he is awesome to film one of the locals always we're on the hole sakes this is part three 270 foot as you can see the fairways a little awkward to kind of a little roller coaster right here going down and then back up and you really just want to throw a turnover putter or a forehand and miss these Guardian trees to the right of the basket but um yep pretty pretty easy hole yeah I say the backhand is a more common route yeah cuz forehand kind of get away from you in the boy ride sometimes but yeah just throw something desperate maybe a little bit turnover on it and just be pretty good got to keep a low though you know tell me Matt both finding trees right in the start of the fairway that's looking nice so I can really good oh yeah that is right Clark job great shot from mr. Andrew I get out of it Tim it's flexing something don't have to put at it be a long look and that was a perfect upshot for more use that and taught me as well so how about the big news of Devin Owens going to a nova yeah Devin Owens and Ricky yeah Ricky though yeah they'll be interesting to see I'm I'm interested to see what different shots they'll be filling oh for sure oh in different discs you know yeah I actually saw new shots that they'll be throwing yeah I played skins with Devin Owens this past or as yesterday yeah on New Year's and he threw some pretty gnarly shots I can't okay enough so I think he'll be just fine the 2019 season no yeah I'll be really fun to watch all right Andrew taking the loan birdie here yeah a tough hole putting himself under par hole seven this is a par three 271 feet it's downhill the gap initially it's pretty tight brutal them you'll see a turnover putter or forehand you really just want to get it down there and mysteries and don't go too deep because it's very easy to go deep on this hole as well I've gotten a few moths or skips myself and just going with that forehand route that's going what's going right you know and he's gonna be about 40 feet short I thought I was hanging out a little why but it yeah he's a gap and that's gonna be about 50 short they're just a little bit too low oh no and that's just like the worst give you that Leslie imaginal yeah that's not what you want to see and that's not where you want to be no now he's gonna be scrambling to try to save par and I think it was a good shot but still he still some work to do yeah he's mad for the bird oh yeah didn't even need chains it would just hit the pole and drop straight on great putt awesome putt by Matt they're putting him at 4-under par oh well what happened to the what happened to the ninja mask yeah I guess he's funny beat up he's starting heat up I got I don't even realize that he took it off turn like the entire day well you know oh it would have been just an incredible part of yeah it was just right and this this baskets kind of kind of janky it's got those loose chains on the right side of his disc actually hit that right side of the chin really yeah and I think if those chains were attached it would have stayed in yeah probably from my angle at least old baskets man you know what they make you play better though we're gonna make you focus more every time I go play hey ki I'm taking twice as long my putts I'll buzz you up you need to hit that perfectly yeah yeah and there's yeah he knows it alright we were on the hole eight this is a part three two hundred and eighty feet you have a pretty tight tunnel leading all the way to the basket and then there's kind of a dip right before the basket so you really want something that carries all the way through this and most people the best you'll see is getting hit in those rocks as I stopped in having a little uphill putt but yeah yeah it's definitely one of the hardest tools out here especially sticking the green it's almost impossible mm-hmm if you if you stick it you're going to be long for the most part and that's fine stay safe and just give yourself a chance for it to mm-hmm and that's a little bit of an early release there from Andrew and that can be a tricky up shot as well yeah not too crazy though no but there's there's trees in the wife and Tim was going with a crazy-looking Flex forehand it's getting fancy on us Tommy's just not feeling right now luckily he stays up yeah last hole might have got in his head a little bit he's gonna try to go Heiser over the water and he just finds that tree above him so did he go be right there no okay he was he was safe um and then he hit that tree so this is still no but but this shot was safe they shot was safe yeah yeah that shot was safe and Wow yeah he set off it up there yeah I was a good little thumb er I'll be able to salvage a bug from there get up shot by Andrew keeping it up there oh no Jim just left it short there and got a bad bounce off that rock oh this makes that one yeah that was from about 60 feet ooh on the other side it's unbelievable how how good he is a parting it just really is he's hitting something from everywhere and a great par putt by a Tim there yep I save it save unfortunately bogey there by Andrew no good putt to save the bogey at least though yeah tell me Matt just gonna be tapping in Tommy's tap in the bogey and then Matt will be tapping in a par yeah wasn't expecting two bogeys on this hole but I also wasn't expecting four birdies yeah all right all right we were on the whole nine this is a part three 305 feet it's a very tight little tunnel where you want to throw like I'm a fairway driver that flips up a little bit flat to ride all the way through the tunnel and then the basket is right across this road so which is OB yeah what the road is open you laying on it yeah yeah yeah yeah there's just a lot of a kind of random trees past the gap that the hit mm-hmm so you can't throw a good shot and get unfortunate kick or something but and Matt just released that one a little bit - really it looks like and then they're also uh OB behind the basket as well that uh yeah basketball court the best tunnel court is OB that's good shot that's kind of the normal spot land yeah so you good landing zone for safe play give him give him a little bit of a run to Andrew this is the fight was nice oh and just barely caught that tree oh and even on the OB yeah you know yeah if he was just a little bit more right that was Park job man that was very unfortunate yeah even it a little bit left as well but he'll have a long look Matt bell tone a touchy little for yeah I'll so actually that's nothing read a really good shot yeah very well done from where he was at here's Tommy just gonna lay it up there today I'm trying to say get but end up just a little left and ain't arresting me happen well this pause this for for right yep and he's had some good for says yeah but for sure not what you want in this course yeah unfortunately Matt pal for three and Tommy's just kind of like let this round slip out of his hand mm-hmm he was tied with Matt I it was just that unlucky cake on the whole seven tell me over there swirl in that disc like he's in the circus tapping in the power alright well that's going to conclude the front nine of the copperhead Canyon disc golf tournament Matt Bell kind of pulling away from Tommy after tell me how to a couple unlucky tree cakes so yeah he's sitting at four down we got Tommy three strokes back from him that one and then Tim and Andrew are both tied at one big hopefully they can bring it back together on a second round but thank you for watching everybody well yeah we'll see you on the back nine
