what's up everybody we are back with some more disc golf coverage for you this is the third annual miles and chain St Patrick's Day open in Edmund Oklahoma at the taii F Cunningham disc golf course at Mitch Park yes sir um it's a fun little kind of like half wooded half open course yeah it's mostly wooded but there are some open ones that you know catch a little break from there got a good mix yeah but uh on the card today we've got David easterwood out of Tulsa Clayton Lawson out of Guthrie Thomas Windover out of lton Cota Hatfield out of Edmond and boat out of Edmond as well so um hole one this is a par 3 367 ft um definitely doesn't play 367 ft not at all it's um just really wooded a lot of trees and the Fairway is just super tight um the majority these guys will be throwing a turnover shot with a fairway or mid-range if you got the juice um the forehand play really isn't there because of uh the line just kind of carries right and with a forehand um there's a lot of little trees in the line that takes it out of play yeah the ideal drive here is to really anywhere remotely close to the Fairway mhm and that's going to be trouble yeah he'll have a lot of trees to contend with on his upshot there here we got Clayton really good at those backhand turnover shots and this is looking money just lce oh my God it misses everything wow and he is parked and and that ladies and gentlemen is going to be a bonus birdie yeah that's incredible I mean he pushed that left side as close as he possibly could and then just let it ride all the way down there yeah that's there's not a lot of people getting all the way down there like that no let alone parking it here we got Thomas Windover sponsored by Heiser bomb and that's a very good kick though yeah really fortunate kick there and he'll uh he'll have an easy up and down for his three and kot is going to do something a little uncharacteristic but in my opinion a very smart play and going over the top I'd say that's pretty characteristic for Kota well for him it is but not for regular people yeah for the wholeistic for the whole yeah yeah yeah cuz you're really like the worst case or the the worst scenario is hitting a really early tree then having another you know 320 left mhm so might as well bite off as much distance in that open air as possible yeah just keeping it nice and safe oh yeah beautiful recovery shot there by B yeah and he'll have a tap in for his three this is Thomas with a little forehand oh look at that Skip and that'll work as well here is Kota just throwing a soft little Annie around and uh he'll have a drop in three this is David where is up and that looks like it's just fading out faded out too long or too early on him yeah not not uh enough underst stability there yeah and um this is actually David's birthday round birthday round yeah yeah yeah so happy Birthday to David um I think it's his first open tournament too right did he hop up here for the first time I think he played one open tournament before this I want to say very new to the open Scene It was Mohawk Park okay open um yeah he played open there with uh was it moha Park I have no idea I thought it was his first one but maybe not yeah it was mywk Park open he's going to have to take a unfortunate bogy boats happen in the par it's a really nice forand shot and Clayton Lawson with a ridiculous drive you better not miss this okay this that drive might might be one of the best of the tournament this is the first hole first hole I know there's some other good shots though so stay there is all right hole two this is a par 3 342 ft as you can see lots and lots and lots of trees andless amount of trees yeah this hole probably plays like one or two strokes harder than whole one even yeah say there's so many trees to hit yeah I'd say it's like it's the most unfair hole out here but there's only one is this one so definite definite Pok and prey um there's there's a turnover line there's a forehand line um you're really just trying to lay up to have a clear up shot for your three yep and um if you get all the way down there that's just amazing props you yeah Clayton it's early tree kicks left there yep pretty typical of this hole hopefully he'll have something Thomas taking a little bit wider route and gets an unfortunate kick left into the rough Cota going with a really low forehand and just getting through it all oh my God cuz he's wearing all that green on St Patrick good Lu there and he is only about probably circle's Edge from where he's at maybe maybe a little outside the circle and this is B with a great looking shot a soft little turnover well yeah he should be able to um convert 4 three there yeah early release there by David yeah this is not a fun up shot oh no and this is like one of the situations where you know your mental game is just falling apart you know you're nervous from the cameras it's your birthday and you just can't get out of the out of the rough and it's really hard to you know come back from that yep here we got Thomas trying to avoid what David did and you know play Plinko that's a fine out but he'll have to settle for a bogey at best yeah he wanted that to the basket but obviously came up a little bit short and Clayton coming up short as well and he'll have an interesting putt from behind that bush and David just really showing the teeth of this hole Yeah I'm feeling for him right now yep just Thomas is third and he's another tree Thomas is going to be kind of behind the same Bush as Clayton he'll have uh probably have that Annie yep what he's lining up and that small little tree right in front of the basket doesn't help anything out either oh so many trees already clear the green now a little bit Yeah David for I have no idea yeah and just nothing's going its way yeah the trees just took his number on this hole Yeah ate his lunch dinner which I'm sure has happened to plenty of people on this C it's just sucks that it's on film you but uh it's a learning experience I'm sure we can uh see him come back a little bit make some good shots here he's a guy that practices a ton so game I played I played um the uh uh White Haw tournament whitew tournament with him and um he he went like six for six the second round that was insane but uh yeah yeah he's definitely got game and uh lots of potential as well absolutely B just tapping in the three there which is just fine on this hole kot I'm sure not very happy with three with as close as he was but um I mean he did have a lot of obstruction on the putt so yeah there's a lot of stuff on that green can't kick yourself for taking a three on this hole Yeah and kot's just had a fantastic here already mhm he been getting dubs left and right that is a quintuple Quint tle bogey you got a five big so see if he can bounce back here yep hold three this is a par three 45 ft this is where it kind of opens up um you're really just throwing a heer um around these trees on the right or just in front of them actually and um hoping you skip up to the basket yeah really nothing to it just a biger here is Clayton he's going a little more direct yeah little bit of flip up and that's ideal yes perfect should be able to make a birdie from there here is kota's he lining I know I'm just lining up a that was crazy though wasn't it like he was rolling I thought he was roll or something yeah cuz we all know Kodak will throw a roller at any random point and park it yeah exactly but uh looks like he saw that one off and he's going to be about 60 ft left up on the hill yeah this is a kind of a must get for these guys especially on a course like this where there's a lot of Birdie looks but they're just so Technical and you got to execute it perfect yeah this is like one of the few holes where you can kind of get away with a little bit of a Miss shot and you know still get the birdie look yep and that was a decent shot from Bo he's going to be about circle's Edge there maybe a little bit outside this needs to get left that's what he's asking for as well and it does yeah okay and that's a good shot about 40 short maybe probably like 40 mhm here is David yeah and just releasing that a little too low yeah and David's just a little bit rattled from that last hole understandably oh yeah but um has a decent upshot he'll have a long look to save his three there yeah andot just gave that way too much height yeah should be able to save the three from there this is Thomas after the double bogey close yep and David needs this badly to get that confidence there we go okay that is a great pars sa from David yeah it is is his bow for the bird just a little bit too low yeah it didn't quite get the higher he wanted either yeah here's Clayton for the birdie oh uncharacteristic yeah you don't see that very often just a complete airball yeah yeah but he converts the comebacker and will save par see that's what I need to work on is whenever I airball my I'm just like I'm not making that comeb backer really like if I miss it that bad see I feel like when I miss the putt I'm so angry and like that anger like turns into focus and I just kind of like look at the basket and like throw it towards the basket so even like an air ball from 20 yeah okay well that's prob we're different I'm just like there's no way I should have missed everything and I'm probably going to miss everything again right that's what's running through my mind which is obviously not correct all right hole four par three this is a 238 ft little hole um most most people will be throwing the over Over the Top Shot so it's right in cot's wheelhouse um and there's actually room for like a like a big uh just like a big forehand Hiser you don't even have to do a Tom Hawk you can actually do a big forehand heer yeah since those treeses on the left side aren't you know that tall yep yeah that's really like the go-to play there's not really a line down the Fairway um I mean maybe like a late flip Flex forehand or something but there's like a wall right at the end of this little tunnel so it forces you go left and then the basket's kind of a little bit more to the right so it's like it's you can get in the circle but it's pretty much impossible to park it with that R Kota puts out a nice shot and we'll have a birdie from there most likely and Bo was telling me after this shot he never throw throws thumbers this is like a rarity right here and he Parks it and he did it Fantastic look like he needs throw more thumbers I don't know why he doesn't like that looked perfectly fine yeah here's Thomas going with that big forehand Heiser and he kind of trickled down in the little Creak area and um he'll have an interesting puff from down there yeah but if you like have a look at all in this hole I think you're pretty satisfied yeah and this is not what you want to do yeah he's having just pit straight out and lay it up again to the basket Lots in the way and he's just going to pitch up and take a four o hit the pole there good aim just not enough height on it how often do you break those out those those all four hand like how often are you forced to throw those not very often no but I mean if I was in his situation I probably would have breaken broken it out oh yeah for sure they're fun though when you make them see I've I've never made them before so yeah it the turbo putt ones feel great though yeah oh yeah and David saves the bogey from there definitely not what you want on this hole though got two look for Cota oh that was a little tricky he is very happy that way that was like in that was like in soccer when you hit the C the top crossbar on a penalty kick just like Ping yeah right in good birdie from cot Thomas with the par and we are on hole five this is a par three 145 ft probably the easiest hole out here um I mean you really just want to throw a forehand with a mid-range down this Gap and you will be inside the circle um the only difficult part about this is going to be the elevated basket and boy this thing is elevated it is so elevated it is way up there yeah it reminds me of whole 16 at Hunter if you if you guys have ever played that course uh yeah just super elevated basket makes it really difficult especially if there's wind I don't think there was today but when there's wind on a headwind or a elevated basket it is just a nightmare yeah you definitely want to make sure you are within like 15 ft in an elevated basket and this is Clayton throwing a little turnover yeah he played it a little bit wide that or needed just a lot more ay yeah and that's not the put you want on this hole but um we'll see if he has an open look this is Thomas throwing something over stable and putting it right underneath the basket that'll work this is David who desperately needs this birdie oh man looks like he was trying to give it a little bit of an ace run yeah it came out of his hand great it's just the the disc was super overstable oh yeah and look at that that's a great putt from the knee in the rough on the right side that's the I don't have anything to lose type putt just go up there and just go for it yep great putt by David here is Clayton for the birdie looks like he's got a clear look oh No Just spits out proide yeah just a little bit too R but you know that catches on you know half the baskets yeah good bir there by by Cota that will move him to 200 under par he has the lead now yeah it's always fun whenever bow and cod on the same card cuz B's super similar in scale it's just always a battle oh yeah bow with the CTP and huge shout out to mice and chain the Disc Golf Group in Oklahoma City they put on a lot of awesome events and yeah thanks for having us guys shout out to chance and chance England and Brian Peak yeah awesome guys just a lot of fun people in that in that Community too oh yeah yep that's disco doesn't have a big enough diameter do what it doesn't have a both seemed a little sketched out always doing something to the camera got to love it oh yeah flips it on out all right hole six this is a par 3 290 ft um it's fairly open aside from these uh trees on the right and left side um well at least compared to the other holes of course but um you're really just wanting to throw something uh flat and straight and um you'll have a look yeah just right through those uh two trees yeah there is also kind of a back door Route Around the right side yeah you have to avoid the uh the big tree on the right side I was kind of shocked to see a thummer here yeah I was too when I saw him lining it up I was like huh yeah we'll have to see where that landed here we got bow here is bow lining up the Heiser and that'll work he got all the way up there yeah only 290 ft yeah I thought I threw it too high though I thought I was going to finish way more left but it defin definitely looks longer off the te no yeah for sure Thomas just catching that thick tree yeah it was tracking Dave going with the low route I like the low route I really do mhm got a little bit of a slide but he'll still have about maybe 60 ft 50 maybe I don't know something like that and Clayton as long as that gets underneath that tree it doesn't look like it did he's going to have a very obstructed putt yeah I'm thinking lay up some from there good up by Thomas no he will have a tap in three from there and looks like Cotto found one of the trees from his thummer but lays up and we'll be able to tap in for three yeah that's what makes cot so good too is he's so good at those scrambling shots just weird weird scramble Master also cauthorne yeahor is fantastic at that yeah that was a good run by Clayton just tickled that left side chain for that right side chain B just kind of held on to that a little bit too long yeah he's definitely not happy about that one he will settle for par and keep him and Kota tied saav for par yeah Davis putter is actually doing pretty good right now yeah starting to get some rhy the putt for sure and Clayton with a three as well and Thomas will follow along lot ofies along with Kota all right we are on the hole 7 this is a par 3 252 ft um it's very very tight um as you can see there's very thick trees on the left side and the right side um I think most guys will be throwing like a straight mid-range or a flip up forehand yeah um you really just want it as straight as possible cuz uh you cannot afford to get left or right on this hole Yeah I'm not surprised in here to see kot go over the top again yep but that looks like it's going up to right yeah yeah and he's going to have to pitch out and settle for three this is probably like the most brutal rough on this course is this hole Yeah cuz the the the trees are just so thick you know mhm and that's going to be an awkward lie as well yeah I do like the flex forehand line though that that's what I'd be taking that's definitely what I'd be taking as well and looks like he has turn that over too much too soon but he's got a great you know open look though at least yeah yeah let's see if David can get up the te here ooh very nice kick yeah great kick yes and he will have a long putt for bird like Clayton's lining up the overhand this is looking great oh he's probably about circle's Edge but he's got tons of branches in the way let's see if he can stretch out and make a putt yeah this looking like a salty forehand from bow basically a repeat from hole one was it whole one yeah yeah David just laying up to take his three this is Kota just pitch now and I believe he actually hit like another tree I think he's like maybe 20 ft out now but okay maybe 25 he got an open look right I can't remember yeah we will we will see I remember him being mad about it but in I mean that could be you know a 10ft puff for him yeah right Thomas gave that a good bid but we'll have to settle for the three yeah that's why he was mad oh yeah that tree was definitely in his way he's going to have to settle for a bogey and fall one stroke yeah this is a hole out here that you're you're very happy with the power yeah you're not complaining at all mhm this is going to be Thomas for the par boom oh yeah he going to stay at one big trying to climb back to underp mhm David tapping in the par as well Cod of the very unfortunate bogey yeah aside from that little tiny forehand hole the front 9's pretty pretty tough it is very tough yeah for these guys after the front 9 you really just want to be like I mean if you're one or 200 under par you're you're sitting great yep um all right hole eight this is a par three 420 ft there's a lot of trees for the first 150 to 200 ft then it opens up and then um you have the basket tucked away in these trees lots of Guardian trees around it as well um these guys will really just be throwing a big heer over all of it and um hoping to have a look yeah the big Hiser it's it's really hard to get all the way to the basket with with a straight Hiser but you can go straight at it more direct route and it's a little more challenging but it's more accessible to the basket yep as you can see B just playing that perfectly yeah might have a little bit of uh those little trees yeah but that's great that looks left a little short too yeah probably about 60 70 short we got David he's going super wide going for the biger as well playing an extra safe and yeah that'll work yeah this is kind of a weird hole cuz you're basically just forced to throw over all these trees like there's really no Fairway at all no there's not like you have to throw over these trees literally yeah and Clayton Lawson got a little bit robbed there that was going to be you know about 15 ft even closer but I think he's happy with that and Kota going super super high yeah and he's going to end up in the rough yeah maybe too high yeah next to uh Thomas most likely might be making some minis over there that's a good up shot from David yeah let's keep this PG-13 okay Thomas he was actually thinking about this shot for a while yeah it's it's okay though cuz you know he put right Bas so that's what happens when you take your time ladies and gentlemen yep you throw good shots unless you're go to half field then you just pop up there and throw it right underneath the basket I think Cotto took some time on that he took some time but not anything near Thomas's time no and Clayton put a great run on that uh birdie but just hit amide and we tapping in for a par yep along with bow looks like we have ourselves a star par ladies and gentlemen Clayton uh is sponsored by Millennium just so everyone knows that very nice him and Bo basically grew up playing together yeah so uh they're G scorpus is yeah their game is actually super similar if you think about it mhm just really consistent solid Putters they both throw similar too they they throw yeah it's effortless looking they have really good spin control on the disc they can just whip it out there with nothing you know and that helps your accuracy too whenever you're not putting too much effort into it you can f more on you know where it actually goes mhm poos to how far it goes all right hole 9 this is a par 3 263 ft downhill um this telephone pole on the right side is a Mando um so you can't take the real wide Heiser um there's this tight Fairway down the middle and then um the basket is tucked on this little island after this little creek um and then there is also a creek down on the right side which plays OB so most of these guys will be playing aiser in front of the telephone pole and just kind of crashing in the trees and hoping to land somewhere near the basket yep that or just like a little safe mid-range up the middle mhm you're not really going to get to the basket going up the middle though unless you get real lucky yeah but this is the way to attack it just looking money from B I want to hit the trees do you know if that stayed in it did stay in he's he's um probably about 25 ft behind the basket down the hill so we'll have a really uphill putt but um a really good look yeah Thomas didn't quite go wide enough for the you know attack in the basket but he's over there and he's safe yep stayed in bounds and there is a drop zone um right before this little opening on The Fairway on the left here that you will have to shoot from which David will have to it looks like cuz he went right at that Mando and missed it so he will be playing from that drop zone which is not an easy shot no it's not well there's just so many trees and got to control the speed too cuz the the ground you know there's Hills over there and the water's scary too so mhm Clayton putting out real high and beautiful shot yeah he's up the hill probably about circle's Edge maybe a little bit outside the circle here's Cota with that ballista Pro it looks like he sawed this one off a little bit as well yeah you can see just how narrow that little Gap is MHM D just trying to slide it up there but didn't quite get any slide yeah Thomas hit that little ninja Branch there yeah he will have a tap in three though is C going to run this it looks like he's given a little run little half run okay that drop off behind the basket is yeah I mean you're going to be here's Clayton for a two oh no wow we had the exact same reaction that I thought that was for sure going in the water though with a real tricky putt there but luckily he stayed in on the drive yep Clayton TAPS in for par look like C will be doing the same thing Bo can you get out the way please it looks like B will be holding on to the one-stroke lead over Kota Dave with an unfortunate doogi yep bumping him to apig all right that is going to conclude the first round uh front nine of the St Patrick's Day open um so far Bo Tillman two underpar ahead of Clayton Lawson and Kota Hatfield by one Thomas Windover sitting at 1 big trying to claw his way back to uh underpar and then we have David um at 8 big hopefully he can turn it around this uh back nine yes and if uh yeah if you guys enjoyed make sure you hit that subscribe button you can check us out on Instagram Twitter and Facebook and we'll see you guys soon yep
