hello everybody we are back with the second round coverage of the 2019 West Texas experience my name is Gabriel down I'm here with Bobby Cox how's it going to rule this tournament is brought to you by legit disc golf and the Clarendon Economic Development Committee yes sir no that's a mouthful that isn't helpful but last round we had Kota Hatfield and Addison Collins shooting the hot rounds of six under par and then I believe we had a was at a four-way tie if you got for fourth place and it was between Nicholas rote and Dylan valance emerson keith and cody Buckelew so yeah Nicholas and Dylan's PD GI numbers were lower so that's why they were on the car today fellas getting straight into it hole one this is a par three we are playing the blue pads today but hole one doesn't change there's just a single pad once again you're really just trying to hit you through this middle gap between the two trees here there is a forehand route around the outside and then there is also a Heiser route as well so we've seen most players opt for the up the middle line yeah not too many successful either it seems like you gotta go pretty low to actually sneak through there yeah those branches you're 80% hit or at least have a grab absolutely and as I'm being a lefty taking the nice and easy Heiser which is hard to swing it all the way back towards the basket all the way yeah it's easier to get past those trees but getting actually like within 20 feet is definitely more difficult roller yeah yeah Nick's thrown a roller here and that is spell pin-high it's passed the bass a little bit but he's gonna be about circles edge on that left side or right side Dylan's taken a big over-the-top flex shot yeah he's got the power for it yeah Oh what's up Chris for that was a close now yeah I had no idea that happened yeah but that is inbounds so he'll have a look from there this is Cota just laying up for the par and Hasson has some really nice putt first round let's see if he can carry that over just a tad bit too low this is gonna be Dylan for two though what were the wind conditions like this round the wind picked up a little bit from the morning so okay I'd say it was like 5 maybe 10 miles an hour at some point stuff stronger than this morning so definitely a little bit more wind to play with it's always hard to tell on camera sometimes yeah yeah but it still wasn't too bad Dylan tap in for par looks like everyone's gonna stay where they were yeah Tower Park on the first hole hole - this is a par 3 the blue pad is a little bit further back and it's a little bit higher up as well so you're really just throwing the exact same shot but just put a little bit more distance on it maybe break out a fairway driver and distance travel instead of a mid-range yeah and you had that little wall left for the basket to kind of act as a backboard yeah looks like he went with that Explorer oh yeah yeah and he is right there about 20 maybe 25 feet it's pretty tough hole for lefty I feel like yeah you only had a line just got gonna make big do ya surprise did not see him through the forehand there cuz he's got a pretty decent forehand yeah well sometimes I get the wind it's getting like a little bit too crazy the for me I just feels so much longer to throw than a backhand yeah looks like it's a pretty good heading going on right here oh yeah I guess the wind did pick up a little bit more than I thought this second round yeah but that third round but also you know we're also you're almost erased the wind third round I heard was yeah that's kind of a spoiler alert but they got it got intense it got like GBO like maybe worse it was pretty intense Addison trying to make birdie from the top of the hill there yeah and those Plus that backed out the Addison had are so difficult because you never get to practice that kind of elevation yeah you know you're just like improv improvising on the spot yeah those putts are so crazy yeah I've cut it with a nice birdie there moving the seven down Nick with a nice birdie is well he is moving to six we got Edison and Dylan tapping out for their pars yeah I don't think Addison's too upset with that it's not really a gettable I mean it's gettable for him but yeah it's gotta be the perfect shot yeah hole three this is a par three we are once again playing from the blue pad which is basically the same shot just about I'd say 80 feet to 100 feet further back and higher up okay very similar to the last hole but they really get through these trees now in the basket yeah that's pretty open the most open line is gonna be the forehand on the left side but code has been opting for this hyzer line around the right side and it's just what's more comfortable over them but what's surprising because there's a lot of there's a lot of branches to contend with there yeah that one about by 70 deep yeah yeah that hard line you really have to get the height and angle of the dist perfect to get under those trees and next on that really well absolutely really nice looking shot they're keeping a low just kind of playing the skip shot up there you know this is a great hole for a lefty putting it up nice and wide that needs to stay below yeah oh yeah that'll work he is right there Dylan's got plenty of oh all right the Hat is insane he caught one of the yuccas that was a yucca yeah I know that is there the plants that are all over this place literally everywhere but they're like these little cactus that have little balls on them but at the bottom of them they have super like spiky bushes huh and sounds dangerous yeah make miss and lo there that's unfortunate because he had a great Drive this is Addison for the two tying up cut a half-filled Dylan nice kid for the par one of the fiercest putts in disc golf but HAP's whenever he's on they do not miss yeah especially on these baskets oh these are the perfect basket scores great oh yeah yeah the more power you have on these baskets the better because there's so many chains and it just kind of spits things right back at you yeah hold for this is a par three this one is the same tee pad so you're pretty much throwing either a forehand on the left side and try and hit one of these trees you do have to be careful because there is a big drop-off behind the basket we did also see a few players yest or last round opt for the Heiser which is a little surprising to me but yeah seems like on the left side there's way less like branches you know there's there's still a bunch of trees that are put the branch and quiet is extreme so yeah if you're go with the high route I think the left size probably the best bet mm-hmm opting for that Heiser again oh yeah yeah it all worked out perfectly about 15 20 Nik opting for the Heiser as well yeah and that's wrong no 30 I just get shot straight down yeah this is this is what I'd be doing yeah forehand whoa just kind of shove it in there yeah absolutely it's nice to see that Don has that confidence still with the four Hampshire and you know was yeah he did and Nick just a little bit too well I might have had one of those tree trunks in his way yeah I noticed some first round there's a lot of like Guardian trees in this course like most of they're just right around the basket really difficult to putt mm-hmm especially on these early holes yeah Dylan just a little bit inside there slides under the basket though he'll be tapping in for par this is Cota for two there it is oh yeah he is moving to 8-under par taking the outright lead once again yeah he seems to thrive in these types of situations where he's leading the pack yeah right kind of just hit the ground running yep he knows how to hold it twice got 126 wins that's just a dumb number he's going around 27 this weekend like even if you're even if you've been playing for a long time that's just absurd yeah it's ridiculous but I love it though hugging 27 wins it's awesome yes hole five this is a par four you're really just throwing a hyzer out through the gap on the right side initially off the tee you want to throw something pretty stable end up on this left side here and leave yourself with a pretty easy pitch up for your birdie yeah it's really just all about positioning on this one yeah here we got Koda trying to play that left side I'm guessing the first run he can I got stuck behind some trees then yeah ended up a little bit too far right and that's gonna be okay there he'll have a little forehand up shot yeah now they're really the only danger on this hole is hitting an early tree initially off the tee or being or on the right side or already or that or in the the bump oh the one thing that's in the fairway that's only like two feet across yeah he's gonna have quite a bit of work to do from that from back there oh yeah oh my gosh thought he doesn't hit as well right Nixon good position for his three maybe not quite far up as far up as he was trying this is Dylan are you serious we have a double bullseye ladies and gentlemen what that's crazy that is very crazy he's still in a decent position for his second shot though oh no he turned that over a little bit definitely further away than he wanted but this thing's got some stability and oh wow well done I thought I was ending up like 60 left yeah I was a great shot from Dylan this is looking pretty nice from Addison oh yeah yeah he's right there next to John maybe circles edge is this the first forehand we've seen from Nick ah I think so so - yeah yeah I was about through it in yeah this is pretty much the exact same spot coders in first round yeah and that one is pretty short yeah the grass is not very Skippy out here huh now in just a little bit too low and I was saying just a little bit am side on his putt what's the wind coming in for my different directions throughout the day or was it a pretty good mom cuz in Oklahoma were used to switching dress everybody it was pretty swirly I'd say especially being right by the lake yeah dealing with a nice birdie there he is actually taking the loan birdie it looks like yeah that's very surprising to see on this hole you had just some miscues on the putts yeah hopefully they can bounce back that grass near the baskets pretty tall too so you really have to get your have good distance control in your up shot because as we saw Kota just ended up short and yeah that grass just grabbed it right up hole six this is a par four it is the longest hole on the course it is 720 feet it's about 200 feet further back maybe actually 300 feet further back up on the hill so you're throwing a massive downhill shot to this clearing right here and then you really just want to bite off as much distance as you can to leave yourself with a nice short up shop yeah it's about your upshot here there's a lot of trees again by the baskets its guy gets sneaky yeah it's pretty hilly around the basket too so your placement on your up shots really important here dealing with a lower kind of flex ought that looks like icing a pretty good spot yeah he's gonna be on that left side and he should have a nice little hyzer line from there yeah and Koda went with something pretty stable it looked like he's gonna be on that left side as well near Dillon Addison thrown out a big flex shot he's going huge and that should work for Madison that is actually in bounds I sent first round that the road was OB but it's actually the fence on the right side of the road so it's like way over there yeah it's way over there and then there is a OB marked on the left side as well so you really just have to stay in the middle and I was a decent shot from Nick he's got a nice little hyzer line from over here and there's really only like one gap to hit from over there yeah oh yeah and he's gonna be down the hill he might have a circles edge putt Nick didn't quite get the heighth right on that one it's gonna be Cota from that left side most likely gonna be hitting that gap and it was an absolutely perfect shot he is only about 15 feet from the basket Dillon with CTP at the bunch oh no oh just barely catches one of those trees Nick just a little bit too high there come on Dylan mm-hmm right on line just now at the height yep yeah those are so tricky getting the height the right on that especially with the wind that we had yeah in being on knees just like sort of the power mm-hmm Nick with a really nice birdie though I'm sure Koda will be doing the same thing yeah three down through six yeah I'm pretty good so far yeah that'll move him to 9-under par wait I had it sent up in the par he will stay at seven and Dylan staying at six yeah we are on to the island hole this is hole seven it's a par three 285 feet as you can see the flags are wrapping all the way around the basket if you go deep or left that's kind of a safe bailout play most of these guys are really just gonna be throwing a forehand or a hyzer and trying to hit the top of the hill there yeah for me like the scariest part about islands is like controlling the Skip I mean it's kind of green I don't think you really have to worry about it cuz there's many skips out in general but usually like that's what it gets in my head yeah say where do I want to land it and how far is it Gus Kip and Nick actually it's gonna be OB there you will be putting from the drop zone just through it a little bit too wide and caught the side of that wall there or the road it's kind of a mini wall of dirt there really is he got and Dylan just parking a perfect shot yeah he'll be taking it to donas a really nice forehand yeah yeah he definitely does you can throw mid ranges too and we anything we really saw it at that a New Mexico tournament I mean heels pulling him out left and right oh yeah like Wong distance shots - mm-hmm Nick from the drop zone just barely missing right Khoda doing the same thing you just Addison for birdie man yeah loading this short putts this round hasn't that was a nice pro side putt and everything for him and just didn't stake that's these baskets he's back right you gotta be in the middle I mean you really just have to put up these baskets like their marksman baskets right because of the way they catch he's got just your putts to each basket you play I feel like you know it's not easy but I mean to do that or gonna get frustrated thinking that your discs are gonna go in but they're not yeah hole 8 this is a par 38 is 375 feet this one doglegs doglegs wait left so you're really just throwing something nice and high and stable and just try and get it to carry left obviously you don't want it to carry too far left because you have the lake right behind they're not going so just distance control and hide control here yes this is 375 which isn't me it's not too far but it's fairly far especially like a high hyzer joy difficult to get all the way up there yeah you can see don't condone affleck shot and he ends up on that right side there yeah going back to the baskets I'm wondering if they'll ever change that in the future like it's not I think I have like a single regulation basket yeah for all the courses you know at least for a little ball golf course and the holes are all the exact same yeah at least for liza like a tears or tees yeah I don't see it happening you know with B well yeah yeah yeah be very difficult yeah but yeah for the bigger tournaments just for the national tour events yeah I agree it'd make it a lot easier yeah and Nick looks like that one didn't carry far enough left and he's gonna be pitching up here whoa Wow gives me a great run though that's a very run man yeah that'd have been so nice yeah he's trying to get himself a little slow-mo action oh no I was trying to do the same thing and got a horrible reaction on that go away oh and Dylan can't convert on the birdie all right I'm need to ask these guys to get it up okay there we go Kota saves the par he will stay at 9-under this is Addison for part as well he will stay at seven and we got Nick tapping in the part as well so how sweet was that legit van oh dude that's why they say when they had the wooden deck on top of it yeah so I'll be sleeping up there yeah so I saw a fish I was like I want that so bad yeah it just popped in up there and you call it a day hold on this is a par three 395 feet you're really just throwing either a flex shot or you can throw a big turnover we saw Koda up for the roller yesterday you can really throw whatever you're comfortable throwing at this basket yeah if your site is pretty open if you're a righty I definitely think the forehand just probably prefer just take those trees out of the way yeah I mean you can do whatever you want really yeah doing just caught the back side of that hill there and didn't quite get the skip that he was looking for I was like kodos gonna go for it again even though he went like 150 beat first like he's adjusted on this one that's standing up pretty nicely and yeah I think it just kind of curl back the left yeah the ideal wine for a lefty and that's not gonna make it quite over to the basket but it's about pin-high yeah well I definitely have some branches to contend with so might even just pitch up for three Nick going with probably the toughest shot of them all the straight turn over shot but it starts to fade out and he'll be a little bit deep yeah a little bit deep but I think he's got a little line there this is Kota 4 - yeah it looks like that roller just curled up on the backside of that hill and Nick just not enough mustard on that gallon just a little bit too low - yeah all he was only a mistake on his putt all round is just keeping it in well some weird wind coming off the lake I'm sure yeah yeah and putting woo and Nick with a beautiful puddle and hitting the window taking a lone birdie and he has caught up with the rest of the card sitting at 7-under par Addison will stay at 7-under par all right well that is gonna conclude our second round coverage of the 2019 West Texas experience Kota Hatfield Poland head of the field by two strokes he is 9-under par and we got everybody else tied behind you know at seven so not the greatest putting from these guys it is pretty gusty out there there is Gus yes so hopefully we can see some adjustments here on this back nine yeah if you guys enjoyed mushy that will I can subscribe you can check us out on Instagram Twitter and Facebook and we'll see you guys for the back ten
